Great Location and Excellent Service
This small, inexpensive and unpretentious hotel is centrally located, has a grassy courtyard with hammocks, a free traditional breakfast and very friendly and accommodating staff. The included city tour was informative (and, by the way, Carlos's English is better than our current President's) and a great introduction to the city's history and features. The room was spacious, with high ceilings, ample storage, and included a much-needed fan. Really, though, this review is written more to compliment the service than the experience. When we checked in, were told that there were issues with the water, as the city was repairing pipes under the street, and water was not available during the day. (Free drinking water is provided as a matter of course.) As it turned out, the water was wholly unpredictable, and we never knew when or for how long it would be available. The owner did what he could, providing barrels of water for flushing and washing up, and he was in the process of installing a storage tank. After three days in the April heat, however, we concluded that we needed more reliable water for showering and checked out early. We informed the front desk why we were leaving and the name of the hostel to which we were moving and, to our surprise, Carlos dropped by and left us an apologetic note and a generous gift to compensate for our inconvenience. That is class. Thanks again, Carlos, and all the staff at El Arca. We recommend this motel for a relaxed Granada stay.
