Our 200 year old farmhouse in South West France is surrounded by vineyards and stunning countryside. All of our guests so far continually comment on how peaceful it is here.
The farmhouse is being lovingly restored to its original glory, with decor and furnishings that pay homage to the property’s 19th century heritage.
Tradition meets a chic edge, with elegant chandeliers, grand doorways, patterned wall papers and plush furnishings; in our tranquil farmhouse. The picturesque grounds also host a rustic barn, swimming pool, and wild meadows.
Out back, surrounded by vineyards and farmland is a large swimming pool and extensive gardens.
We are in a small village with a local épicerie for basic supplies, but only 10 minutes away is Sainte Foy La Grande, a bastide (fortified) town on the banks of the Dordogne river. Here you can find a range of shops including a large supermarket and best of all an award winning market on Saturdays that will tickle your taste buds and have you hurrying home with local produce to prepare and eat!
The area has, of course, a great range of restaurants. Dine on the banks of the Dordogne at Au fil de l’eau for a very special evening. For an unforgettable gourmet dinner, nothing beats Les Fresques at Chateau des Vigiers, one of the finest gourmet restaurants in France. Casual dining at moderate prices is surprisingly good at several restaurants in and around Ste-Foy-la-Grande. Not far from us is Duras with a good selection of bars and restaurants, and then we can suggest riverside dining in Gensac If you want an exhaustive choice, head to Eymet , a Bastide town with an amazing square and all sorts of dining available in the colonnades off the square.
