The staff were great, and the hotel was clean. The facilities were also good. It was a long walk in the rain to the 2 train stations. So i guess my fault for not paying attention when i booked.

Quite old-fashioned compared to other APA hotels I've been to. However, it is in quite a central part of the city, so it was convenient, and I could watch the sunrise over the castle from my hotel room.

Standard business hotel-no frills. All Japanese language check in. Rooms are standard. Beds were a little hard but not bad. They are a little wider than a twin size but not quite a full size, so this is called “double size”. The pillows are terrible! They extremely thin and flat. I went to the front desk and asked for another pillow. The staff said they would bring it up to my room, which they did about 10 minutes later. They brought a nice standard pillow that was bigger and fluffy. I would recommend asking for a big pillow at check in. The pillows in the room are a joke-more like a seat cushion, they are so flat and you only get one.

The hotel was close to the tram line, or about a 15minute walk from the city center which was convenient. The rooms were a little run down, and breakfast was average. Check-in was smooth, and staff were friendly.

Very bad service with untrained staff members.
The hotel is generally an old Japanese business hotel. Leather couches at the front are partially ripped and very old interior. The hotel staff members are terribly trained and unfriendly, unlike usual Japanese hotels. First, of all, It takes me too long to just checking in. Probably more than 20 mins of the wait. 2nd, they don't have any concierge skills. They cannot even explain where I can look for a place for dinner. Also, they asked me if I have an APA member card. I said I didn't have with me but I know the card number. They responded I have to physically have the card with me to get APA points. They recommended If I install APA app I don't have to bring the card with me so I installed the app right away and showed QR code to one of the receptionists. He told me yes it works but only from NEXT TIME!! Very bad! Usually, I like APA hotels but not this one. Their breakfast was not good either very few choices in the buffet. I strongly recommend not to go to this hotel.

For work or play, a great place to stay.
The hotel is a bit outdated; however, my room (Single, non-smoking) was spacious and smoke-free! TIP: If you have suitcases, catch a taxi from Matsuyama City station to hotel.
