We enjoyed our time at your hotel. Our room was clean and quiet. It does need painting, I have a friend that has a painting company. Contact me if you would like a fair estimate. It’s a slow time of year for them and I bet bet it could be done for a good price. Have a merry Christmas!

Great service in a low budget hotel
It's funny how the pics on hotels.com always make the place seem so much nicer. I wasn't expecting a lot and in that way I wasn't really disappointed. The service though was top notch. I was really happy with the people I dealt with. I'm buying a house nearby and was just in the area for the home inspection so I'm sure I won't need a hotel for another night, but if I do it will be a different property.

This is a very old and outdated hotel, not actually in McHenry. Instead it is in johsburg. That being said, there is a gas station a little ways away where you can get water or snacks as there is nothing to be had closer that 10-15 minutes away nor there. The balcony door did not close all the way and we listened to wet road noise all night that was even louder than the volume of passers by and their doors closing. It is not handicap accessible and smells of marijuana. There is only somebody available to assist between the hours of 9am and 8pm (I think it was that late.) Nobody to get help if there was a problem. No phones in rooms and our cell service was not the best if there would have been an emergency. Our room was terribly cold with temps being cold and wet for October 13-15. One gentleman there however was nice and helpful. The woman and other man, couldn’t have cared less. 90 days later and I’m still fighting for my stay stamps.Gggrrrrr

Some of the building could use a little paint and honestly when we got there, it made me wonder if my wife and I made a mistake. But then we met David at the front desk. He was so accommodating. He gave us the best room possible. It was small but very quaint. Everything worked. And best of all, we had a balcony with a beautiful view of the marina and lake. The next morning, I was able to have a conversation with David about this and that. He was very friendly and interesting having lived in the area for some time; It was a wonderful stay. And finally, David accommodated us with an early check in so we could have time to rest and get ready for a wedding that evening.

A little disappointed
Somehow during booking, I missed the fact that all the rooms have only one bed. That was the first surprise. And as others have said, the showers are so low that it makes it really hard for tall people to shower comfortably. I had to crouch down to be able to wash my hair. The view of the river was nice, but it didn’t make up for the other inconveniences.
