Built in 1872, Willsmere, the former Kew Asylum, with it’s Victorian Italianate architecture is an icon of Melbourne’s history and culture. Located just 6 km from the CBD, Willsmere is close to Melbourne’s sporting venues and arts precinct. Catch a tram to the Australian Open. Enjoy the walking trails and flying fox colonies along the River Yarra or play a few rounds of golf at Yarra Bend. Relax at the Willsmere pool (currently under refurbishment and available from December 2024), practice at the tennis courts or watch the sun go down over the city.

Impeccable stay
What a find! Willsmere is a beautiful, tranquil experience. The grounds and buildings are so lovely. It really felt like an oasis from the city. We stayed with our old dog, who loved all the wonderful gardens. The apartment is well designed and perfectly appointed. We will definitely be back.

A great place to stay
We booked Jo’s place for a quiet weekend away. The former Kew Asylum is an impressive building and it’s been very sympathetically converted into apartments. The gardens and lawned areas are very well maintained. Everything about Jo’s place is great. Incredibly clean, comfy beds, sofa and chairs. The kitchen is well stocked and the pantry has plenty of the basics. Jo met us on arrival and showed us around the apartment which we really appreciated. The location is excellent. We walked down to Kew High Street and the Yarra Bend Park, which is a stunning place to walk along the Yarra, is just infront of the building. I’d happily stay here again. Thankyou Jo for everything.

Gorgeous apartment!
Overall I loved this place and would highly recommend it for families with young children. Although a ground floor unit, I had an elderly and not very mobile parent so the walk to and from the car park was challenging but the host did let me know beforehand. Didn't take away from the apartment, just something for travellers to note - it served our short stay purpose otherwise! The host is amazing, very clear and timely communications, no stresses at all! Would highly recommend this place! 5 stars!!

We enjoyed our short stay in Jo’s apartment. The gardens were lovely to walk our two dogs around. Close to the Yarra River walks too. The apartment had everything we needed although there was no wifi available. Jo was great to communicate with too.

Loved the property. Close to the city and close to all local shops. The property does not have fans or aircon in the bedrooms, could do with floor fans as a suggestion. The property is beautiful and very well appointed. There is a generous assortment of kitchen staples available, making cooking that much easier. Overall an easy place to stay and the unit is nice and close to the pool too. A secure and spacious option for my family to spend time together.

Step into another reality
A haven away from the city. A gated property that is stunning and offers spaciuos gardens and fully grown trees to make you feel like you are dwelling in a park. The pools are heated and very inviting. This park style outlook is from both the front and the rear of the apartments. The unit is comfortable and attractive with everything you need. Just be aware there are quite a few steps and a bit of an uphill walk from the car park so could be an accessibly challenge to some.
