BEWARE
Three days before leaving the UK we were contacted by the owner's agent saying we had to leave a large € deposit (now increased). I offered a credit card but they would only accept a cheque or cash. Appealed to owner who agreed to reduce but still had to leave a large amount in cash. Owner pointed out it was in his conditions. This is not communicated in the booking and I eventually I found it hidden, in French, in a sub menu, under House Rules, on the UK website. On departure we had to get to Bordeaux really early on Saturday morning to drop off our daughter but the agent initially refused to come before 7am and suggested we leave on Friday night and book a hotel. We proposed that we return from the drive to Bordeaux and get back for a 10am check out (as per the contract) but the agent said this was not possible as her schedule was already organised for Saturday. After appealing to the owner she eventually agreed but only after demanding an extra fee (which the owner agreed to pay).
Also note there was a gate operated by a fob which would not open when we had numerous power cuts. It was fortunate we didn't need to get out of the grounds at those times ! There is also a pool alarm that goes off repeatedly,
Avoid the hassle and book elsewhere.
