Butterfly Cottage is centrally located in the most desirable part of the Dordogne - the Perigord Noir. Located in a hamlet on a no-through-road (no passing traffic) the location is very peaceful and enjoys beautiful views across the village and the surrounding countryside. The Cottage is just minutes from fairytale settings of Chateau de Commarque and Les Jardins de Marqueyssac, historical sites of Font de Gaume, Lascaux Caves, Chateau Castlenaud and medieval villages of Beynac, Les Eyzies and Sarlat-la-Caneda.
The cottage looks out onto a large courtyard with a beautiful Mulberry tree that sits in the centre. The courtyard is your own private area to relax in and enjoy watching the swallows fly in and out of the barn door. Also, your personal 3 burner Weber gas grill is in the courtyard so you can cook up a barbeque. Inside the cottage there are beautiful wooden floors and all the modern conveniences of home. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a breakfast table and bar stools. The living and dining room area is one great room. The living room has 2 comfortable reclining leather chairs and a lovely sofa to relax on. The custom made sofa is a sleeper bed for the possibility of having a third guest. The dining area has a wonderful large bar top table that seats up to 4 persons. The bathroom is down stairs and is fully updated with a new walk-in rain shower. The spacious master bedroom is upstairs with a beautiful wood beam ceiling, wood floors, and a heavenly King size bed (180*200).
This is a charming property full of character, and beautifully furnished. You have the feel of the 17th century, but all the upgrades and comfort of home. There is a gorgeous garden to relax in and read a book. So whether you are a couple on your honeymoon, friends on vacation, or a family wanting some quality time together, there is something for everyone to enjoy at The Butterfly Cottage.

Delightful Setting
We received a warm welcome from Andy our host. We had an excellent time spent in a beautiful area. Our Gite was spotlessly clean, a typical French Gite with charm and surroundings. We would recommend to anyone wanting to unwind and enjoy France at its best 👌

Les Hirondelles Butterfly Cottage Perfection
We have had a great time in this beautiful region. Andy was the perfect host, always on hand with any queries or just a chat.
The accomodation is full of character, comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed use of the pool and hot tube. The gardens and setting are idyllic. Plenty to see and do without having to drive too far, local restaurants great value😄All in all A+++

Butterfly cottage was the perfect location to explore both the Dordogne and Vezere valley.

A relaxing time
Fantastic surroundings, wonderful pool and gorgeous gardens. A warm welcome awaits at Les Hirondelles and you couldn’t stay in a more picturesque and relaxing place. Beautiful Carmensac
We had another wonderful holiday at Les Hirondelles (our third), this time for 3 weeks. We both wished it had been 4 weeks. The location is so central to all of incredible sites contained in the Dordogne. The cottage was perfect and contained everything we might need. The new owners, Andy and Uliana, could not have been better hosts. They are very personable and were always there to respond to any questions or needs that we had. They were the perfect hosts for a perfect holiday location.

Heaven on earth
If you are looking for the perfect place to stay in Dordogne, look no further. Lee Hirondelles is located between Lee Ezyies and Sarlat, a quiet spot, yet close to restaurants and grocery stores. The owners, Andy, Ulliana, and 3 yr. old son live on the premises. They are happy to answer questions and give advice if asked, but will not intrude. There are 2 rentals. The house has 5 bedrooms and 4 baths. We stayed in the cottage which had 1 bedroom and a sleeper sofa. The kitchen was well stocked. The bath has a wonderful walk in rain shower with a separate hand held shower head. Each unit has its own private terrace, grill, and washer and dryer. There is a pool, hot tub, exercise room and sauna. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back someday.

Memorable family holiday
Our 3-generation family spent a week at Les Hirondelles (both the villa and cottage) celebrating several family milestones. This holiday exceeded our already high expectations.
Les Hirondelles was perfectly situated for us. It’s a few minutes’ drive to the towns of Les Eyzies and Ste Cyprien. Some of the most incredible cave art is within a few kilometers. All the A-List attractions of the Dordogne were within the radius of a half-hour drive—every bit of it through beautiful countryside.
The property is gorgeous, especially when the weather is right for outdoor living. We took all our meals on the patio, surrounded by great beauty and accompanied by bird songs. Even with five energetic kids there was plenty of space for everyone who wanted to be exuberant without disturbing those of us seeking an hour of quiet time. The pool is great.
The houses are clean and well-equipped. They accommodated our group comfortably. There are three public areas in the villa, plus a separate kitchen/living room in the cottage. The kitchens had all the equipment and dishes that we needed. We stayed during a record-breaking heat wave, with high temperatures topping out around 40 Celsius. The stone walls kept the interior cool for a couple of days before the heat penetrated. This led to a few uncomfortably warm nights, especially in the upstairs bedrooms. No idea about the comfort level during more seasonable warm spells.
The owner/hosts Andy and Uliana live on the premises. They struck the perfect balance between being available and unobtrusive. Our stay was early in their first season running Les Hirondelles. Despite being new at this endeavor they provided all the information we requested. I’m sure their local knowledge will grow steadily.
Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. We would have been happy spending more time enjoying Les Hirondelles and the beautiful Dordogne region.

A piece of paradise!
For three weeks in October, 2018, my husband and I enjoyed Butterfly Cottage and called it 'home' while we explored the area. The cottage is charming and very comfortable with everything you need to enjoy your stay. A bonus was that we had our own patio to enjoy listening to the doves, drinking wine or coffee and planning each days adventures. Our host and hostess were there for us when we needed advice or help of any kind, but never intruded on our personal space if/when we were wanting to be on our own. In addition to being spacious and comfortable, the cottage is located very close to many of the interesting chateaux, grottos, gardens and delightful villages that dot the countryside. We can hardly wait to return!

The cottage is in a perfect location for visiting sites in the Vézère Valley. It is comfortable and clean and well-equipped for cooking. Hosts are friendly and helpful. Fresh eggs from the resident chickens are a bonus.

Most memorable stay!
When we first read all of the reviews on Butterfly Cottage before booking, we thought that they really sounded a little bit "too good to be true". But we have to say they are all completely an accurate description of the property and its wonderful hosts. There really are no negatives!
Linda and George, the cottage hosts, are the most helpful and genuine people you will ever meet. From the moment we booked, Linda was in touch with very useful information to help make the trip perfect. She provided suggestions of what to see and do in the area, helpful hints and excellent directions to the cottage from where we were coming from.
The Dordogne area is absolutely beautiful! There are so many wonderful places to visit and many were only 15 to 20 minutes away by car. Would recommend canoeing on the river. One of our favourites.
The cottage itself is stunning. The pictures on the website are great but it is even better in person. There is absolutely everything that you need in the cottage and lots of personal touches by the hosts that make it special. It makes a very comfortable stay. We had chef Dimitri come to the cottage to cook for us one night. He was amazing and it was truly some of the best french food we had tasted. There is also a larger cottage on the property but both cottages have their own private courtyard and areas and it really feels like you have it all to yourself.
Butterfly Cottage is now a very special and memorable place to us, as it was on the grounds of the property (in the jacuzzi overlooking a pretty field) that we got engaged. A first at Les Hirondelles apparently! Thank you Linda and George for the lovely card and bottle of champagne for us to celebrate with.
We would highly recommend a stay here!

Our most relaxing and idylic holiday accomodation ever.
We have stayed in this beautiful cottage now for three years running and every time we stay it is harder to leave it all behind. The cottage itself is spotlessly clean, the bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, which means you actually go on holiday and sleep better than you do at home! The cottage is beautifully decorated and has a lovely warm feeling to it, outside the patio area is amazing, totally private and plenty of comfortable seating areas plus a large gas barbeque for those lovely hot evenings relaxing with a local bottle of wine or two. George and Linda are the most wonderful hosts, nothing is ever too much for them and Linda is on hand to advise you about all the places you can visit within a very short car drive. There is so much to visit that you will never get bored but also lovely walks from the cottage if you don't want to be bothered to use the car. There is the chance of having a chef come and cook a meal for you which again Linda organises if you want to try it. Take it from us you will not regret Dimitri cooking for you it is the best food we have ever tasted. I really can't express how beautiful and relaxing the stay is at the butterfly cottage and our only regret is that we can't stay longer and more often.

Like something out of a story book
We stayed here for our honeymoon & could not have had a more perfect week. From the minute we booked this cottage we kept in contact with Linda who helped us plan & organise our whole week, she introduced us to dimitri who came and cooked for us the most exquisite meal whilst we ate outside on our beautiful private patio watching the birds dance in and out of the mulberry tree. It was like something out of a Disney film! George was kind enough to let us come meet “the girls” & provided us with fresh eggs for our stay. The we enjoyed a few nights in the hot tub with a glass (or two) of local wine overlooking the French countryside & spent every day swimming in the pool. The fact there was no chlorine in the pool was an experience & our hair never felt dry after! The cottage was full f everything we could ever need or even had thought of! All the small things were taken care off and Linda and George were always around to help. Everything felt so personal even though we knew how popular the cottage was! We really felt like we made friends this week & had a taste of our own little paradise before heading back to reality! We will definitely be back! -faye & Lawrence hearn

Sheer Perfection...
My husband and I have lived and traveled throughout various countries in Europe, and of all the places we have stayed in, the Butterfly Cottage is the most divine, it is sheer perfection!
The Cottage is an elegantly rustic 17th century building which is furnished with impeccable taste. It is spacious and the decorations exquisite, the gardens and property are sumptuous. The kitchen is extremely well-appointed with every conceivable gadget, every imaginable amenity is provided from fine crystal champagne glasses to picnic baskets. Incredible attention to detail from French provincial table linens, lush terry cloth bathrobes, excellent lighting to read, and a king size bed with an amazingly comfortable mattress for a relaxing night of sleep.
Our host and hostess, are generous, gracious people. We were greeted with milk, orange juice, coffee, teas, spices, wine and daily, fresh eggs from 'the girls'. They have the rare combination of gracious hospitality without ever being intrusive. They are available, if needed, and then seem invisible so one has as much privacy as desired. They are very perceptive and 'read' their guests well. Both are passionate about their property, the area and ensuring their guests' happiness. They also offered recommendations for local attractions, goose farms, restaurants, gardens, villages and hikes that were not in any of our tour guides.
The Dordogne region is heaven and the views from the meticulously clean hot tub and heated swimming pool are unparalleled. One sees lush, rolling hills, grazing cattle, wisteria covered pergolas and barnyards filled with lilacs and Swallows. The property is extremely well kept.
Not only would I highly recommend this to everyone, I would highlight this is a property not to be missed. Pure heaven!!

Absolutely Magnifique !!!
We spent an absolutely perfect week at the Butterfly Cottage. Plenty of space, complete kitchen with everything you need, amazingly comfortable bed, beautiful relaxing sitting room, a gorgeous patio area to relax and enjoy the birds during an afternoon drink, and most of all stylish charm. We have been to many a Gites in France and the Butterfly Cottage tops our list. Located in one of the most charming regions of France. Everything you would want to see or do are within minutes drive from the cottage. We will be returning again, and hopefully for a longer stay.

Perfect base from which to explore the Dordogne!
Having just returned from our honeymoon in the region, my wife and I found the Butterfly Cottage a fabulous retreat from which to set our own pace for exploring the Dordogne.
The hosts Linda and George could not have been more helpful in providing tips, maps, and even helping to make bookings in French for activities for us over the phone.
The cottage is situated within truly lovely grounds, with the view from the pool and Jacuzzi every bit as stunning as the pictures might suggest. All the facilities you could possibly require are in the cottage, and Linda and George really go the extra mile to ensure every little touch is covered: you don't need to worry about coming with milk, spices, cleaning products and such because their attitude of providing their guests with everything they could need from the start of their holiday has all that covered.
We also really enjoyed getting regular fresh eggs from the 14 on-site "ladies" (chickens!).
We had an absolutely fantastic time here and were made to feel so welcome. We wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone, and plan to return ourselves in the future.

Perfect cottage to relax and explore the wonders of the Dordogne
Linda and George are first class hosts, Linda's knowledge of the best places to visit was extremely helpful. You must have a visit from Dimitri her friendly French Chef to cook for you his food is fantastic. In those famous film words "We Will Be Back"

Simply Fabulous
My husband and I spent one glorious month at this property in April, 2016 and I cannot say enough good things about it. From the warm hospitality of the owners Linda and George and there lovely dog Rosey, to the comfortable, cozy and well stocked cottage, to the beautiful property they own including swimming pool and hot tub.....the list goes on. The property is in a wonderful location of the Dordogne close to all amenities (markets, restaurants, banks, gas stations, etc.) so much so that you can bike (if you are so inclined) to many little towns and villages. Every day was a new and wonderful experience and Linda is an excellent resource for scouting out great places to visit and spend your time. We are definitely planning a return visit to this wonderful region of France and to the Butterfly cottage. Thank you again Linda and George for helping to make our stay with you folks so very enjoyable.

Perfect relaxing time in Perigord
Looking for a quiet and relaxing week in the Perigord area we found at the Hirondelles cottage the perfect place...
Georges and Linda are very kind and prepared the cottage with everything you would need to start your holiday in the best way you could expect.
The pool (28°C in April) and Jacuzzi are perfect to take some good time in between the visit of all castle, caves and sweet area around carmensac.
No hesitation if you wish to visit the area and the cottage is free... only drawback is the TV without french channels but place is so nice that even for the french guy I am you cannot take this into account for ratings.

Butterfly cottage - April 2015
My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week away at this lovely, idyllic cottage. I was nervous about booking, convinced that no cottage gets 5 stars every time. Something had to be wrong! But I needn't have worried, everything was perfect and we had a wonderful week. An easy 5 stars!
Linda and George are fantastic owners - informative, helpful and respectful of your privacy. They pour their hearts into their 2 cottages, doing everything they can to make your stay perfect.
We stayed in the Butterfly cottage, which is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a home away from home. The outside courtyard is lovely and private, with a seating area perfect for alfresco dining or relaxing with a book. We also made daily use of the jacuzzi at sunset, which is shared with the other cottage but quite private.
The cottage is in a lovely area, surrounded by rolling hills. It's very close to a host of attractions, all recommended by Linda along with some hints and tips on parking, scenic drives, cafes etc.
We've left the cottage happy and very relaxed, although we're disappointed we didn't book 2 weeks! We're already talking about coming back next year.

Merveilleux séjour
Nous avons passé une très bonne semaine dans ce logis des hirondelles, très bien accueilli par nos hôtes (des œufs, des noix et une très bonne bouteille de vin en cadeaux),très discret ,s inquiétant pour nous si nous avions pas froid au cas où que oui du bois a été coupé, un endroit très très calme, de plus beaucoup de choses à faire et a voir dans la région.
Nous conseillons vivement cet endroit aux futurs visiteurs de la region.
