Really nice
Posted 28 Oct. 2024 on HomeAwayThere was a problem with the clothes dryer not working, but it was quickly resolved, otherwise the stay was perfect. The location and view from the front lawn helped make our trip. Thank you!

Cottage on Skye
Posted 23 Oct. 2024 on HomeAwayThe house was so lovely and cozy!! It had so many really nice features! The beds were comfortable and nice linens. Kitchen was very well equipped also!! Loved that tea kettle! It was so nice to come home to a comfortable warm place from hiking out in the cold all day! We loved sitting around the fire in the evening. It was so cute and spacious. My son used the sauna and said it was great. I don’t know if there was something wrong with the dryer but our clothes never dried in it so we just hung them on the rack. We couldn’t get the bedroom tv to work and found no instructions for it which was a small thing. It was so quiet and peaceful there! Such a lovely view also! We loved our stay here so much!! Thank you!!

cottages was lovely it meet our needs. It was lovely that each each master bedroom had its own ensuite. The kitchen was well equipped with plates etc the only issue is found in the kitchen was the can openers did not open cans.
The views are amazing the space is relaxing, overall the cottage is good option. Portree is a nice place however you will require car to commute to town.

Loved the location
Posted 23 Sep. 2024 on HomeAwayOverall, loved it. The location was excellent for the day trips we had planned.
The main downside was the lack of a traditional shower on the upper floor. There was a tub with a hand-held wand thing in the master bath and that was the only bathroom on that level - the 2nd bedroom on that level didn't have access to a bathroom. Downstairs there was one bedroom and 2 bathrooms - one en suite and one right next to the room - both with showers.

Nice house, good location, horrible smell
Posted 9 Sep. 2024 on HomeAwayMy husband, two friends, and I stayed 3 nights in early September. The house was comfortable and well stocked. Unfortunately, the overwhelming musty smell from the only communal bathroom with a shower was a huge issue. The host picked up immediately when I called, and told us to run the taps for 10 minutes and that should help. While it helped for a bit, running the water led to a sulfur smell that was so horrible we felt sick. They came to check out the issue the next day and just cleaned the bathroom again and left an air freshener, which didn't fix anything. We had to keep that bathroom shut with the window open for our whole trip to keep the house from smelling. The upstairs bathroom was just a tub with a sprayer, not an actual shower as advertised, so one shower for four people was annoying and not what we paid for.

Plumbing Shortfalls
Posted 4 Sep. 2024 on HomeAwayThe property has a good layout and is user friendly, on first appearance it is presented very well.
Upon check in we were advised that there was an odour coming from the ground floor bathroom, due to recent rains. Call me skeptical but rainfall is not an unusual occurrence in Skye, I’d guess there is a blockage that simply hasn’t been fixed and certainly wasn’t attended to during our stay. End result was a bad odour coming from the bathroom, very musty in nature, might have even been a blocked septic tank. Rather than heavy rains I’d say more likely a lack of maintenance following the peak booking period, either way, it was akin to what I’d expect staying in a camp ground paying £5 a night and you could smell that odour in the house and definitely when in bed, not ideal. There was also a dripping tap in the kitchen, not a nuisance per se but to me indicative that maintenance is overdue on the property.
Save for the bad odour in the house it could’ve been a great stay. Great outlook from the property, on a main road but little to no noise and certainly very quiet at night. A bit of a drive to Portree for provisions but peacefulness of the location offset that minor inconvenience.

Beautiful Cottage
Posted 25 Aug. 2024 on HomeAwayMy boyfriend and I stayed here with another couple and it was perfect for us. We had tons of room to spread out, and the house was super clean with nice furnishings. It's a little out of the way, but we liked that compared to being in Portree. Loved the view of the stunning waterfall right from the front yard, and it was convenient to the Fairy Pools and other hikes we wanted to do. Would stay again if we every make it back to Skye!

Beautiful home, beautiful location
Posted 10 Jul. 2024 on HomeAwayThis modern home served us very well for our stay. There were six of us including 2 teens. Property very clean and well supplied. 2nd floor gets warm but owners provide fans so we were just fine. Lots of comfy places to sit and enjoy a meal, a book or just the beautiful views. We all did the puzzle and that was fun! Thank you

Our stay
Posted 2 Jul. 2024 on HomeAwayWe had a fabulous stay at Karinya Crossal, we couldn’t have asked for more from a holiday let.
