Mold enveloped the ceiling of the Sun porch to such a degree that we didn’t feel safe spending time there (particularly given our age and my husband’s history of allergies, asthma and cancer); although given the peaceful setting, we would have loved to! Mold was evident in the ceiling and walls of the master bedroom forcing us to move to the guest room (either two single beds or a double bed). There, also was the mold in the master bathroom shower. Additionally, the deck is deteriorating, but not to any degree that interfered with our stay.
While the setting is beautiful and tranquil, without addressing the mold issue, the owners are putting the heath of their guests at risk!!! Refer to CDC guidelines which state: “Regardless of the type of mold, it is important to remove it from the home for hygiene and health reasons.”
Aside from the mold issue, the property was clean, in a peaceful setting with adequate accommodations. (We would have appreciated more than a partial roll of paper towels for an 8 day stay and new, more plush towels rather than the bevy of thread bare, mismatched towels, washcloths and towel mats.) Also, the ice make stopped working midway during our stay. Access to the soaking tub would have been appreciated; but it reportedly didn’t work. We have pictures to document.
Maybe, we were spoiled by our stay in Gatlinburg (Sweet and Cozy Getaway Spot); the host truly treats his guests as honored “guests”.
