Charming farmhouse with private pool among Brunello vineyards_A real Escape!

PLEASE NOTE: For stays over the 7 nights the quote for Final Claning indicated as supplement host won't be more than €210. The quote will be adjust accordingly.

Tenuta La Fuga ( literally "The Escape") is a charming farmhouse nestling in the tranquillity of the Tuscan countryside. It reflects the Folonari family’s great love for Tuscany, its land, its grapes, and the wines produced from its vineyards and that for centuries have been at the heart of the family business.
La Fuga is at the center of one of Italy’s most beautiful regions, the land of Brunello, one of Italy’s most famous wine-producing areas. Located near Montalcino (41 km from Siena), the rural surroundings make it a very quiet and peaceful dwelling, the only noises being the swallows flying joyfully in the sky just before sunset.

Loving the land also means sharing and allowing others to enjoy this beauty. With this in mind, in 2012 the Folonari started restoring the Estates’ properties and their surrounding land, diversifying into ‘one-hospitality’ as a complement to the wine business.

The house was re-styled maintaining the character of an old-style Tuscan farmhouse. It is fully equipped and very comfortable for 5 adults and 2 babies. One of its main features is the beautiful terracotta terrace overlooking the vineyards and the rolling hills in the distance. Views are truly breathtaking and one would only wish to relax here at the end of a long summer day enjoying a glass of Brunello and meditating on the beauty of the surroundings!

The pool, for the exclusive use of the guests, offers sunny areas as well as relaxing shady spots where a pergola gives extra shelter for outdoor dining. The pool area is fenced all around for safety.

There are many interesting places to visit in the area, but if one day you prefer the peace that the house offers, our trusted in-villa chef would be available, after the appointment, to cook for you or to give an enjoyable cooking lesson.

At Tenuta La Fuga you may visit our cellar where we produce our Brunello wine with our caretaker, upon his availability, but there is not an organized wine tasting. If you are a real wine lover and would like to know further about our production, please come and visit our main cellars by the Tenuta di Nozzole near Greve in Chianti, where we hold proper wine tastings. Booking your visit and wine tasting in advance is strongly recommended. Visiting the lovely and lively village of Greve in the morning, and visiting our cellar at Nozzole in the afternoon, could be an opportunity to see another beautiful part of Tuscany, the Florentine province.

Sleeping in a Brunello vinyard
It's definitely not everyday that you sleep above a Brunello cellar and beside a Brunello vineyard. This is a special property in a postcard-perfect area outside of Montalcino. Our family of 5 had a wonderful time here and enjoyed coming home to the pool and beautiful view. We also appreciated the welcome amenities in the kitchen and the opportunity to taste some of the owner's olive oil and wine. We found the bedrooms, with air-conditioning and window screens, to be comfortable and have character with wood-beamed ceilings. As set out in the description, guests should be aware that the property is in a rural area and is not really walkable to anywhere - Montalcino is about a 15 minute drive away, with some wineries being closer. Having the caretaker, Davide, available and working on the property each day gave us some piece of mind. The check-in really is during a strict two-hour window - I do not recommend attempting to arrive following an international flight.

Spectacular!
A marvellous two weeks deep in the heart of the Brunello countryside. As others have mentioned, Davide the estate manger was a courteous, responsive and compassionate individual. He went out of his way to resolve an early logistical issue. Living in a farmhouse above an active winery/wine cellar was definitely funky All in all a great vacation!

We had wonderful time at Tenuta La Fuga .. I think it is a perfect spot...
We stayed at Tenuta La Fuga for two glorious weeks May 20th - June 3rd. . The villa is even more striking in person than it is in the photos. Angela was great during the booking process, Davide, the onsite property manager, was so friendly and accommodating and always had even though he is still managing the vineyard and winery! Giulia was The property …. we stayed as two couples and it was perfect - we each had our own private space but also had beautiful common space! I think the villa would also be great for families staying together. The attention to detail in the villa is wonderful … beautifully appointed spaces, high end quality of the bed lines and sheets, the decor of the common spaces and the wonderful kitchen. Not to mention the outside .. amazing! We spent our days visiting the towns within an hour or two of the area and then we would come home and cook and enjoy the peace and tranqulty of this property. We did stay a few days onsite just to enjoy the villa, property, views, terrace, walks in the vineyard and the calm and quiet this property had to offer. The views are lovely! As others have mentioned you are 15 minutes from Montalcino so a car is a must! One of our highlights was an evening with the recommended chef Francesco - it was amazing. We also enjoyed the lovely wines that are produced by the property as well as the main location in Chianti … there are wines available to purchase right in the kitchen for this wine loving group was perfect!

Wonderful Tuscan experience
Accomodation was expectional - only problem was we were only notified a couple days before arriving that the pool was out of order which was one of the reasons we chose the property. The onsite manager, David, was outstanding! The property was beautiful, spacious, very clean, had everything you need, well kept & safe. The listing was a little deceiving as it shows photos of a restaurant & tasting room however its 2hrs from the property. Otherwise it was almost perfect!

Beautiful Home in Camigliano
This was a beautifully designed and appointed home with lots of outdoor space for walking (and enjoying the pool in the summer). Davide who manages the house was welcoming and explained all of the aspects of the home to us upon our arrival. The house was incredibly comfortable and clean. The surrounding vineyard were stunning and the house provided plenty of outdoor vantage points to enjoy this. Two areas to consider with this home. The kitchen area has two beautiful windows/doors for natural light but the sink area was dark. Also, this home is located approximately 15 minutes outside of Montalcino so arriving before dark is advised. The owners provided a sampling of their wine and a welcome basket (along with eggs, milk, juice, pasta and sauce), which was lovely and then also had a a full complement of their wines for us to purchase and drink during our stay. We loved this as it allowed us to try out a few wines from their label during our stay with ease. Last, if arriving home after a long day of touring, the home is well equipped for cooking dinner at home (or arranging dinner with Chef Francesco who was wonderful!) with a full set of pots and pans, a grill and all of the dish ware needed for a full dinner. We enjoyed dinner with Chef Francesco on our first night and ate at home two other nights to avoid going back out after long days of sightseeing and visiting wineries. Great option for families. We would definitely return!

The Tuscan Retreat You Dream About
Our travel group consisted of two adult couples visiting Italy for the first time. Our itinerary included Rome, Venice, Bologna, and Florence before traveling to Tenuta la Fuga for much needed respite from an ambitious touring pace. As we made our way from Florence to Tenuta la Fuga (must have a car), we stopped outside Florence at the Folonari family's Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute - Tenuta di Nozzole for a previously booked wine tasting. Oliva, our host, met us with a warm and friendly welcome. The facility is beautiful and produces the best wines that we tasted during our visit to Tuscany. The quality is a result of this family's dedication to producing only the best wines with generational knowledge, expertise, and passion. This experience should not be missed. Next, we packed up and drove through the countryside arriving at Tenuta la Fuga, which, in a word, is breathtaking. As previous reviews have described, the pictures cannot capture the essence of this special estate, which indeed reflects it's name, "The Escape." From before we arrived, until our departure, the host Angela and property manager, Davide were communicative, responsive, and especially helpful. The estate is immaculately maintained and very well appointed. We booked a cooking class with Francesco, which was a highlight of our visit; I highly recommend. Tenuta la Fuga is the perfect "escape" from everyday life. Come to pause and contemplate the beauty that is Toscana and all that she provides.

Davide was an incredible host. He was very responsive and helpful. The property is absolutely stunning, and the area is beautiful. The pool was very chilly, but it was clean and was surrounded by gorgeous vineyards. We had a personal chef for the night; it was the best experience we had in our ten days in Italy! The beds were comfortable and the villa was updated, but still quaint. We would definitely return.

Memorable stay
Even thou we would like to keep this location as our secret, the stay here was just perfection. We were given proper check in instructions and directions to the property. The memorable stay started with check-in with Davide which included tour of the cellars. FYI… this is a working winery surrounded with Sangiovese vineyards and cellars are underneath the property. We picked up some wine during check-in which was apparently not enough as we bothered Davide couple more times for more wine. Davide was very busy that week as the Merlot grapes couple steps from the property was full blown harvest mode which we got to witness. Davide still made time for us. The highlight of the stay was the cooking class with Chef Francesco. Our family could not have asked for a more perfect evening. Francesco’s charm was the icing on the cake. The property was clean, very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed including washer which came very handy. Not to mention the views which were breathtaking and better than any of the pictures we saw as the vineyards were super green and full of grapes at their peak.

Our stay was absolutely amazing. The Villa, the vineyard, Montalcino, the Tuscan Hills…all breathtaking. The pictures do not do it justice. We would sit and stare at the surrounding beauty. David was a great host and very helpful and showed us the cellar, which was very interesting. We did a wine tasting at Tenuta di Nozzole in Greve and Ilaria, our host, was so lovely and informative. Perfect Brunello Getaway
My family and I spent two weeks at this property, and we did not want to leave. The moment we walked in the door, it instantly felt like home. The pictures do not do this property justice - it is even more beautiful in person, including the house, the grounds, the views, and the overall feeling and vibe of the estate. It is a working winery, so this is a totally unique opportunity to be living among the vineyards and see the winemakers working their magic on the beautiful sangiovese vines. This is particularly perfect for a family traveling with a baby or small children - there is lots of space to spread out and run around, but it is still very contained, safe, extremely clean and very well organized. It is in a peaceful, secluded corner of the Montalcino region, only a 15 minute drive from the center of town and very close to many gorgeous wine estates. Driving around Tuscany in this area is an absolute dream, but you can also choose to happily spend your day walking the Tenuta La Fuga vineyards, relaxing by the pool, doing yoga on the terrace, picking wildflowers in the fields, gazing at the secenery, birdwatching, etc.. Overall this is a treasure of a property that I expect mny family will return to often. Thank you to Davide and the owners for a magical vacation.

Fairy Tale Villa
Oh, our week at Tenuta La Fuga went by so quickly-it rained everyday so we were disappointed that we couldn't enjoy the pool and grounds but we certainly did enjoy everything else! The place is magical! The house was very clean and was the best stocked place I have ever seen! We had bread, wine, eggs, fruit and all sorts of goodies waiting for us! The views of the olive trees and vineyards were amazing! We had the most unbelievable double rainbow one evening that was breath taking-it looked as if we could reach out and touch it! Davide was very helpful and available but otherwise you didn't know he was on the property. The beds were comfortable and the linens/towels plentiful. The washing machine was great as we traveled with only carry on luggage and counted on it.The location was perfect and oh, so peaceful!Make reservations at Locanda Demetra-a farm to table that is wonderful!I could write about this place all day but you have to experience it-just ask for some sunshine😜

Perfect stay in the heart of Tuscany
My husband and myself brought my parents here as part of a 50th wedding anniversary celebration trip to Italy. I can't even describe how much this villa exceeded our hopes. It was so clean, beautiful, great layout (perfect for two couples especially), the view was spectacular and the pool was also spotless. The surrounding vines and olive groves were just perfect- sitting outside for apertivo and watching the sunset while the birds sang- you can't beat it. The surroundings were so peaceful, and again did I mention the view? We also booked a cooking class (as recommended by Angela) with Francesco and his mother-in-law- they were amazing and we all had such a great night. He went above and beyond to put together a surprise treat and gift for my parents for their anniversary, we just loved them. All in all, staying at this lovely property was one of the highlights of a perfect trip. I just got home and want to go back already. Highly recommend!

Couldn't Imagine a Better Place
Everything about this villa was absolutely perfect from the moment we first walked through the door. The villa itself was clean and beautifully laid out. The bedrooms, great room and kitchen were all well-appointed and comfortable. We had arranged for the estate chef to have a pre-prepared meal waiting for us on our first night, and when we arrived, he was in the kitchen, finishing up the cooking, making for a wonderful welcome. The outdoor spaces were truly special, with an upper deck with a table to enjoy meals, then an expansive lower deck with incredible views over the vineyards. Yet another patio with table and chairs was set next to the pool. We enjoyed having an afternoon glass of wine and meats/cheeses that we purchased in Montalcino, watching the kids swim, while surrounded by vineyards. Cooking class with Chef Francesco was a highlight of the trip, don't miss out on this opportunity! Even our 10 year old had a blast. Going to Montalcino for dinner or wine tasting meant a picturesque 20 minute drive through miles and miles of vineyards. Although there are countless amazing restaurants in the town of Montalcino, we often opted to take meals at the villa to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the countryside while we ate. If we are ever lucky enough to return to Tuscany, we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!

Lovely Tuscany
The property was very nice and comfortable. Beautiful setting. We could not communicate well in English with the property manager and he became inpatient with us when we had questions about the kitchen appliances and other parts of the house. We were amazed when he charged us 50 euros extra cash for being an hour late in finding the place the first day. We kept him informed of our progress but he seemed angered. He told us the charge was in the contract, which we never saw. Also , we were charged a tourist tax before our departure date. Again, we never were told of this either. We were told we could see the wines in the cellar below the villa, however, the property manager seems bothered by our request and never arranged a time for our visit. The property and facilities were amazing but these unknown requirements and lack of communication took away from the overall rating of the place.

Truly Spectacular
We had a truly spectacular stay at La Fuga in Camigliano! This was a trip for myself, my wife and infant daughter as well as my wife’s parents…and this property was perfect for our needs. The layout of the rooms allowed for privacy (two primary bedrooms on opposite sides) and also had a nursery (or third bedroom) directly adjacent to the one bedroom where my wife and I slept. Exactly what we needed. The communal spaces were also wonderful -large and spacious with very comfortable seating. The outdoor dining area and large veranda overlooking the vineyard was everything you’d hope for at a Tuscan Villa - views for miles in every direction and nothing but the wind blowing and birds singing. The kitchen seemed to be recently upgraded with all modern appliances that made cooking for our family very easy. And although it was too cold too enjoy the pool, we appreciated sitting under the covered patio area and on the Sun deck with a book with the water bubbling next to us. :) Angela and Davide were fantastic hosts and very communicative ahead of our stay and helpful with any needs we had. Davide also showed the cellar and helped select some wines for us during our stay. We would absolutely stay here again and hope to do so on our next trip!

Tuscan Dream
This is the most beautiful property I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. You drive through the tuscan hillsides lined with cypress trees, and fields of vineyards, olive groves and rolling hills. Tenuta La Fuga is a magiacal Italian farmhouse, very clean with many attention to details, from the heated towels racks, comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. The interior is beautifully done and the gardens and fields are gorgeous! Davide the caretaker responds to any needs immediately and communication and check in was seamless. Renting a car is necessary to travel around Tuscany, nearby town of Montalcino has everything you need, Grocery, bank, cafe, and beauty. Davide stocked the fridge for us with a few necessities so we had dinner and coffee, breakfast, all the basics to make our arrival very stress free. I highly recommend this stay for charm and stunning beauty. We arrived in early march so everything was starting to bud and bloom. Such a peaceful beautiful place, we can't wait to come back!! Highly recommend Chef Franccesco's amazing food and fun, it was the highlight of our Italian adventure! Thank you Tenuta La Fuga for an amazing experience. I wish we would have stayed longer!

Outstanding.
This is our third visit to La Fuga and I don’t think we would ever stay anywhere else in Tuscany now. The property is simply stunning with a great view, amazing terrace, great pool and garden, and is set in a really quiet/private location. Everything is as described and works perfectly (not always the case in the four or five other Tuscan villas we stayed in before we found this one!), including the air con which, in our experience, is quite often poor and unreliable in other properties. The little touches are just right too - essential groceries are generously provided so you don’t have to worry if you are arriving late; decent toiletries are provided; big, soft and plentiful towels are there for each of your party; and beds/chairs are really comfortable. Communication, booking and check-in/out are slick and quick. David (the on-site property manager) is always available if you need anything and unobtrusively ensures the pool and grounds are clean and tidy every day. The only thing you need to know is that you really need a car as the villa is wonderfully remote and a good 15-minute drive to Montalcino. We love this as it is what makes the place so private and quiet, but most people probably won’t want to regularly walk the 10-12km into town! We recommend La Fuga without any hesitation (except the fear that we might struggle to book it again if everyone knows about it!).

La Fuga is a charming farmhouse on a beautiful estate. We have already recommended it to others traveling through Italy. For a family of four it was plenty spacious and we enjoyed several dinners at the kitchen table. We arrived later in the day and were so happy to find that the wonderful caretaker, Davide, had stocked the kitchen cabinets and fridge for us so that we did not have to venture out again for dinner. Everything we needed was there. The views from the house and the deck were amazing with vineyards, olive trees, and wheat fields stretching out on all sides and no other neighbors in view. Davide gave us a tour of the wine cellar and it was impressive to see how much wine was being aged right below the farmhouse. It was about a15 minute drive into town where there were several restaurants and a descent grocery store. We hope to stay there again in the future!
