I had an ocean front suite,which was very huge and spacious .The bathroom was amazing newly renovated, very modern and palatial . Some members of staff needs retraining, their mannerism and attitude is not befitting for a service industry but i must commend my house keeper Sharie, Melody and the female chef from the buffet dining their demeanor and helpfulness was so much above the rest. Entertainment was good.

I have been coming to this property on a mostly annual basis for about 15 years. The new changes being implemented by the Catalonia company didn’t really amount to improvements at all. The à la carte restaurants have a slightly higher food, quality, but will no longer let you choose extra options, and all of them were limited to a three course meal, even though they used to be four course meals and the menu still contains all four courses. If you have a big appetite, you will definitely be eating twice Unlike before the ownership change After witnessing people from corporate on the property, clearly being less polite to the staff than the people who have been working here usually are was very obvious and noticeable. The new uniforms that I saw being handed to several of theemployees were Safari uniforms. That seemed a little bigoted being that there aren’t really Safari in Jamaica… I normally wouldn’t think twice about this, but when I combine this with the behavior and attitude of Spanish corporate, Then there was the photographer from corporate the corporation didn’t choose to go the cheap route, and hire Jamaican photographers. They flew in a man and a woman from overseas to do the job. This is not something. There is no place to buy souvenirs any longer. The lottery for locals has been ended, and the men at the West End of the resort remained under threat of arrest if they got too close. Painting isn’t remodeling no remodeling has happened. &my room upgrade was a lie

An unexpected guest
Previous guest informed me that this place was a Holiday Inn prior to being bought and the transition hasn't been good. I can see what they mean but for the price and location to the airport, it's worth the money. The ground are kept clean all of the time. The staff was courteous and helpful. I definitely took advantage of the food buffet and all inclusive drinks. There were activities available but I'm not sure if they're included or not as I didn't partake. I would've recommended this place to the public until the following issue. During one of my nights, I went out and stayed out late. I decided to sleep in so I put the DND sign on my door and flipped the latch. Sometime after breakfast (i slept through breakfast) a loud bang shook me out of my sleep. The sound was of someone opening my door, with a key, and the door hitting the latch. I opened the door and a gentleman with a clipboard stood there saying this room was marked as vacant and was going to be painted. I had already been there two days so how would you not know that the room is no longer vacant? Did you not see the sign? Didn't think maybe to update the list or knock? When I told management, all he did was say sorry and not to worry, it won't happen again. They complete minimized the level of fear I had as a person traveling alone.

We enjoyed our stay at Catalonia and liked the food at the buffet and restaurants with exception to the Jamaica themed restaurant which could have been more authentic to Jamaican cuisine. The staff was very helpful, polite and accommodating. The entertainment was quite good for the holidays especially for children and we loved the Jamaican vibe of the hotel. Access to the beach from our building was very muddy and full of weeds. The hotel is clean but definately needs updating especially the bathrooms and furniture. We didn't like the noisy air conditioner which needs replacing. We will definately return after the upgrades are completed. Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Room service top notch as always, staff is great as usual oh something noticeable front desk faster check in and less paper work, yeah my get away spot for a quick visit to the island,food was much better than my last viist no fancy stuff just layed back as usual other than this privilege thing more money same crap and i guess the bar wasnt too please with my tipping this trip sevice sucks, hay sometimes $20 sometimes $1

The food was great. The staff was sarcastic and rude, especially the women for some reason...some of the staff make you feel scared to order food or a drink they appeared very angry. Not the vibe I was looking for on holiday with my family. Will find another location next time.

Staying at the Catalonia hotel was excellent. The food was amazing, the service was good and the staff was ever friendly. The nightly entertainment was good. I will definitely stay there again.

The experience with the staff was so poor I regretted spending my money with this property as I’ve never felt like this before at a resort and it’s a yearly treat for my year of hard work. If your skin tone isn’t clear the service will be garbage! Never felt so humiliated before! I went to Ocean Eden Bay last year and Grand Palladium the year before and was never treated like that! Ali at the front desk was very helpful though and Bellboy Christopher was a gem. At the dining hall we had to be asking for drinks and all while they would go to the light skinned tables and ask if they wanted any beverage. As a Jamaican you really don’t stand a chance here at good customer service.
