Hawks Cottage (Lower Unit) was built in 1924 and is located just a few blocks from historic downtown "Mayberry", The Andy Griffith Museum and Wally's Service Station! Relax and enjoy fireflies and warm evenings on the big wrap-around porch. Let the feel of an old southern home in a friendly town bring you back to the good 'ol days. (Rental includes the entire downstairs of the home as shown in listing pictures)
Hawks Cottage (Lower Unit) was built as a duplex, and there is an additional upper level unit available for other guests to rent although you will have complete privacy in your indoor and outdoor areas.

Wonderful stay in Mount Airy!
We had a wonderful stay at this lovely old home in Mount Airy, within walking distance to town with a delightful wraparound porch, in a very quiet neighborhood. We had the entire downstairs including a vintage record player! It does look like someone lives there when not being rented (personal items in the bathroom, kitchen cabinets full of typical cooking/baking items, not like a usual VRBO property), but fairly easy to work around. We absolutely loved submersing ourselves in "Mayberry" and would consider this home if we ever return.

Celebrating our Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary
This is the third time we have stayed at this property and we made sure we were able to have it to celebrate our fiftieth wedding anniversary together. It’s a great house located on a quiet street in a wonderful neighborhood just steps from the Main Street of shops like Floyd’s Barber Shop ( where I make sure to have my haircut) and the Snappy Lunch and steps away from the Mayberry Jail and Courthouse and Wally’s Filling Station! It’s like going back in time to the sixties. All of the townspeople are so nice. We will be back again.

The home was clean, comfortable and what we needed for a one night stay. There was one small issue (not with the home) however, the host took care of it immediately. I would recommend if you are wanting to see the town of Mt. Airy.

Upstairs or downstairs. Great place.
Rented the entire house with some friends. This place is great! Lots of room. Great location. Looking forward to visiting this home again. Upstairs is more modern and a bit nicer than downstairs but downstairs has best access to the wrap around porch. If you’re going to be in town this is a great place to stay.

Property was very roomy and clean and had an old fashioned charm that I love. The bed was super comfortable and I loved the record player and old vinyl records we played. The back yard was roomy for outdoor gatherings.

Things that I would liked to have had
I would have liked it better if there was a TV in the sitting area so we could have watched TV as a group. There needed to be a curtian on the side door - especially since the pull out couch for 2 people to sleep was in that room. All in all it was enjoyable and close to everything we wanted to do.
