On the coast of Mona Lake sits this three bedroom, two bathroom Lakeside Retreat that people of all ages will find easy to love and hard to leave. From the views of the Mona lake to the peaceful sounds of wildlife, this little slice of paradise will have you breathing in fresh air and releasing any tensions you arrive with.

The Space:
The updated decor accentuate the already spacious interior of this home away from home and there is a space for everyone to relax and unwind. Each bedroom allows for privacy and space so nobody will feel cramped and the bunk room with 3 twin beds, and a full size lower bunk also includes a pull out sofa should you need some extra space to spread out. The primary bedroom has its own dual sink, shower and jacuzzi tub with a walk-in closet large enough that it could be it's own small bedroom! Combined with the private exits to the backyard, overlooking back patio and lake. This room has a gas fireplace and TV, you will never want to leave this wing of the house.

The open floor plan includes expansive sectional so entertaining with friends and family will be a breeze. Off the living room is a semi-private area with a Queen size daybed and work space with desk and chair.

The backyard and patio is set up with a gas grill, firepit and patio furniture, a further walk down a set of steps leads to the waterfront where there is another fire pit and large deck area overlooking the water. Please note that there is a staircase of 57 wooden steps to the dock/deck. Kayaks (two single-seat) and a dock (seasonal) are there for guest use. Please note at this time the deck, stairs and dock are not equipped with lighting of any sort.

This property is pet-friendly, and you're invited to bring your furry companions. Note there is a pet fee of $75 per pet. (kindly inform us upon booking).

Other Things to Note:
We'd love to welcome you to this lovely lake side retreat, but please know it is a wooded lot on the water. It's a rather outdoorsy area, and does include many trees, acorns, woodland creatures and this can also include bug friends especially in the spring and fall!

Great weekend at the Lakeside Retreat
This property was great for our annual girls getaway. The house was immaculately clean with comfortable furniture and beds. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed for our stay. The owner was very prompt in responding to my emails. We appreciated the upscale linens, but definitely needed more towels. I would highly recommend this property.

We stayed with 2 couples, one couple being older. The layout of the house was perfect. Beds were exactly how we like them. We opened the shades and had lake view our whole stay. The steps to the dock were a little too steep for half of us😀. Communication was the best we ever had. Our family enjoyed our stay very much! Property was clean and welcoming. Beds and living space were comfortable and kitchen well stocked, even for our large group of 10 people. The kids loved playing in the spacious grass area of the yard. Property manager was great at communicating too. Wonderful trip for us!

The house was filthy and not well kept. Rodent droppings in the kitchen, ripped sheets, mold/mildew in vents and musty smell, doors off hinges, greasy substance on floor, fall leaves piled up against the house with swarms of mosquitos breeding in it (making the backyard unusable)….and the list goes on. Our family rented three houses for our Michigan stay and the others were top notch. Fortunately, we could vacate the house during the day and hang out at the other places. I wish I could post pictures in this review…it was gross

Lakeside Retreat?
The house was as advertised, very nice and comfortable and spacious. The outdoors, not so much. Grass was tall, all outdoor furniture dirty, kayaks dirty and full of water. Limbs down on the roof and everywhere and gutters full. Deck not as accessible as picture shows. It was down a long staircase which was littered with branches and chairs from porches had been taken down there and we were not able to retrieve. The outdoors was a selling point for me and we weren’t able to use it at all! I expect properties to be as advertised, as that is why I am booking and what I expect to be paying for.

Great house!
House was great! Open and modern floor plan, natural light, big couch and good seating, lots of pillows and blankets, well stocked with everything! Added enjoyment of bald eagles flying over the lake. Adam was responsive with communication. Rented this house for a soccer tournament in Feb (so didn’t really get to enjoy the lake or outdoor seating) and it was located right in the middle of the 3 field locations. Reasonably priced. Would definitely stay again. Thank you!

Lovely Property
The house is comfortable and decorated so nicely. The owners have thought Of virtually everything one might need while away from home. I really appreciated fresh ground coffee, and a Keurig machine. Plus a wonderfully stocked kitchen to prepare anything you would like to Make. Thanks for a great stay and we will be back!

Lakeside Retreat
My family had a wonderful stay in Norton Shores. The house is perfect for family of all ages and located near Muskegon and Grand Haven with so much to do. Adam, the property manager was very helpful and easily contacted with quick responses. We enjoyed many family bike rides through the neighborhood. The dock is down a hill with many steps but great overall. We recommend Lakeside Retreat for a great getaway!

Nice visit at Norton Shores in February
The thing our family liked best about this property is the backyard that adjoins the lake. There were at least six bald eagles that were roosting in the trees and swooping down to catch fish in the water almost our entire stay. We could watch all this from the window--lots of fun! We arrived in February and it would have been nice that the snow was cleared away from the sidewalks, that's why we downgraded cleanliness. The master suite was beautiful with shower, jacuzzi tub and tons of storage space. The fireplace in the master bedroom was very nice and the room was very spacious. The rest of the house was fine for our son & his young family. The property is nicely located for easy access to local hiking along Lake Michigan, which we took advantage of since there wasn't enough snow for winter activities. We also enjoyed a visit to a waterpark that was about 30 minutes away. The kids especially loved that. We marked down for accuracy of listing in that it was unclear that this property was situated in a subdivision. We were under the assumption from the photos that it was in a secluded area. It turned out not to matter in the long run as we weren't outside much with the cold weather, and the view of the lake was great.

We very much enjoyed our stay, the house was beautiful, relaxing, and felt like home. The location of the property is awesome, in a quiet neighborhood and within 10-30 minutes of numerous things to do or places to go (grocery, ice-cream, frozen yogurt, pubs, restaurants, hiking trails, sand dunes, beaches, cideries, etc.). The view of the lake is beautiful and the amount of windows and natural light coming in is amazing. The property was very clean and the communication was prompt and very helpful. We recommend this property and will definitely be back!

A great week!
We (4 adults and 3 young children) just finished a great week at this nice home. The house was clean and comfortable. The lake setting was lovely. We spent lots of time on the patio near the house and on the deck closer to the lake. There was a level yard in-between where the kids could run around. Two kayaks were available for our use. While the sandy beach was good for launching boats, it wasn't so good for swimming, but there was a nice one minutes from the house. And of course, there are the dunes close by. Adam was VERY responsive to our questions. We'd be happy to return.

Beautiful Sunsets!!
The home is clean and updated. Check in process and communication was a breeze. The lake views and access were beyond expectations!! Loved our stay. If I ever make it back to Michigan in the future, I would stay here again.
