This Bed and Breakfast was like a fairy tale getaway for our family. The beautiful pictures of the space were absolutely true to reality, only they can't quite convey the full charm of the old home with its mixture of modern convenience and lovely decor w/ the creaking of old wood flooring and the shine of an old banister. One night we had a HUGE thunderstorm and I lay sleeping with my youngest in the larger upper guest bed and felt like I was Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz about to get carried away!--with the lightning visible from the windows and the eaves above the bed offering a Dolby stereo experience of the thunder and rain. I found it highly romantic. The antique dressers and other furniture pieces, drapery, and rugs are really tasteful and elegant. The kitchen is just the perfect size for a group of, say, 4-6 (my group was 4) and the single bath has a lot of character, well-stocked with all kinds of towels. We were worried about having to share a bathroom, but found it no trouble at all. The front porch is set-up for some nice relaxing "chill" time, conversation, or card playing (etc.) but we found the mosquitos a deterrent. Note to all: BRING MOSQUITO REPELLANT!!! The star of the house is the huge live oak in front which is so exquisite it's breathtaking. We liked the fenced-in front yard for our dog and we liked the back entrance (where we parked) with its accessibility to a laundry space that easily serves as a "mud (sand?) room," leading into the kitchen. The fridge is large and brand new. The dishes, towels, and other supplies well in order. Our dream would be to see a Keurig coffee maker on the kitchen island instead of the very basic drip brewer that was there, which we were not able to succeed in using effectively (we tried twice). We DO imagine that our hostess would have surely helped with that had we asked her about it--because she responded beautifully to what we DID ask her about: from local restaurants and eateries to help when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the house! She always answered very quickly, within the hour, and mobilized her people admirably to help us get back into the house. She was a great hostess. We found downtown Georgetown to be very charming, in particular, the Shipping Museum and the Homemade Chocolates and IceCream Shoppe. We would have taken a tour but it did not work out with our schedule. Having the Grocery Store, literally around the corner was really, really great perk.
