Recent improvements to all our outdoor spaces, include a wrap around upper and lower deck with plentry of outdoor seating. Sun deck dock with lots of room to enjoy the sun and swimming, along with the other water equipment we offer.

Spend quality time with family and friends and enjoy the endless lake and mountain views from this 4BR/3BA home located inside a gated community on Lake James. The private double decker dock offers space for a boat, not included, and two decks for lounging. There are area options for boat rentals and other water toys. Included, are 4 kayaks for guest use and 2 paddle boards. The outdoor entertaining space is great with a large back yard with fire pit and plenty of outdoor seating for dining. Your eye goes directly to the water! There are upper and lower decks on the rear of the home, facing the lake, and both offer seating options. These decks have just been updated and expanded! Our lot has expanded to include the cove to the right and we are working to make this space usable to our guests by adding walkways for kayak access.

Boat trailers are not allowed to be parked in the driveways, if you bring a boat, you will need to secure off site parking. The manager can send you information on a location and costs.

About the house:
Upper or main level has master bedroom and bath with patio doors to the deck overlooking the lake, a second bedroom with another king bed, large hall bath, and great room design with kitchen, eat in dining, and living room with vaulted ceilings and gas fireplace. New larger doors now lead out to the deck with extra dining options and expanded seating.
The lower level has a large den and smart TV, bedroom with queen and new larger patio doors to the lower deck, and one more bedroom with a queen and also a bunk bed. Large hall bath. The laundry area is located off of the bunk room. Home offers internet and 3 TVs for convenience.
Lake James is located in both McDowell and Burke Counties and offers 30% of it's shoreline to the State Park, so it's no wonder that there is no shortage of outdoor activites to enjoy in our area. We have boating, swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoes, hiking, biking, trails and mountain climbing. Marion and Morganton are nearby towns that offer shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities. Come explore the great outdoors at Lake James and see what makes our water stand out .

Relaxing weekend
Our family had a great visit for a long weekend trip. The house was nicely set up for different family members to have their own space. The kayaks and paddleboards provided were in great condition and plenty of life jackets in a variety of sizes were available. The firepit was very nice and seating was available for the whole family around the fire. There were two outside picnic tables and outdoor tables for enjoyment. It was a wonderful location for a relaxing weekend.

Great Time
The house was prefect, the location was perfect. We created some great memories with our adult kids and grandkids. The swimming and fishing were a great, Lake James is beautiful. The stairs to the dock were a bit of a climb for the 76 year old grandparents, but provided some good exercise! The beds are comfortable, although some new sheets would be nice. Karen was wonderful to work with. We would rent again!!

Fantastic House - great family trip to the mountains
Great layout for family with children - the adults stayed upstairs and the kids had the entire downstairs. Really great onsite items for a getaway - kayaks, paddle boards, grills, cookware, etc. Super convenient to Marina for boat or jet ski rental - we did a half day jet ski rental and it was super easy. All instructions and communication was very well organized. Our family lake getaway will be forever memorable!

Repeat visits
We have spent a summer week in this home for the past 4 years. It works well for our family. Our grandchildren love the small quiet cove beside the property. Having two dens makes it great for the younger ones to enjoy their own space. The extra refrigerator downstairs is a big help. We enjoy the kayaks and paddle boards. The view is awesome. The neighbor has added a large deck on the left-hand side of the house which takes away from the privacy we previously had; however, that quiet cove on the right hand side does provide a good option.

Great Spot
We brought our own boat which was perfect with this house. A great home for two families with teenagers. The kids had their own spot downstairs, while us adults enjoyed the upstairs. We spent most of our time out on the deck and down on the dock. Karen was a great host! I highly recommend this home if looking to relax on Lake James!

Perfect for a quiet getaway.
We enjoyed our visit to Lake James. The view is spectacular and the property is set on a quiet cove. We rented a pontoon for a day from Lake James Marina and made use of the kayaks provided. In the evenings we relaxed by the fire pit overlooking the lake after watching the sun set at the upper deck of the dock. We will definitely be a return renter.

What we needed
Our adult family of 7 had a delightful time. The young adults had hoped to use the kayaks but it was too windy and cold. We did use the fire pit, though. For any “older” folks with knee issues, all the toilets are LOWER than standard. Also, do NOT follow GPS instructions—which are very curvy and like a roller coaster. Use the directions VRBO gives you! The kitchen has lots of pots and pans. We found the dish towels on our last day because they were in the dryer. No liquid measuring cup. Otherwise, everything we could want.

Anniversary trip
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful property on the lake. The views were spectacular and we enjoyed kayaking around the lake, sunset drinks on the dock and morning swims. In the evening , we sat outside by the fire pit, soaking in the peaceful spot and watching the local wildlife . The house offered everything we needed to complete a perfect weekend . We will definitely be back with our teenage kids.

Unparalleled views
Absolutely gorgeous views, spacious rooms, lots of wonderful games, kayaks and paddle board were a plus. The young adults in our group (20 something’s) loved the fire pit and everyone enjoyed fishing off the fantastic dock! Karen, the property manager, sent tons of information to help with our stay. Easy check in and check out process. Just a few things that would have made the stay perfect: while there were plenty of pots and pans, we needed casserole dishes, but ended up cooking several things on top of the stove. There weren’t any kitchen towels to dry dishes, the can opener barely opened cans, and the dishwasher was hard to open and close. We loved that there was an American flag on the dock, but it was in shreds. Otherwise, our stay was excellent and we would highly recommend this gorgeous place for a vacation. The views were truly stunning!
