Welcome to the view from above the clouds! Our expansive, sunlit, two-floor penthouse condo right on the ridge at Wintergreen Resort has stunning views of the mountains and ski slopes – and, thanks to a
recently completed top-to-bottom renovation, it exudes a cool modern vibe. Wall-to-wall windows span the width of the condo, offering spectacular vistas. Sunlight floods the spacious vaulted living room,
perfect for curling up with a good book. On warm days, you can soak in the sun and dine al fresco on the enormous wraparound deck, stretching the entire width of the living room and wrapping all the way
around to the primary bedroom suite. On chilly nights, there’s a wood-burning fireplace for cozying up.
And, no matter the weather, you can soothe your muscles in the state-of-the-art infrared sauna.
As soon as you walk in, you know something’s different. This place is laid back, playful, and all about relaxation and discovery. Whether you’re looking for peace or adventure, this is the place!
The space
The living room has a soaring vaulted ceiling, a bookshelf full of good books, a wood-burning fireplace, a game cabinet, a beverage fridge, a big 4K Roku TV, a Yamaha Bluetooth soundbar, and sleek, comfy
furniture. The kitchen is open, spacious, and equipped with everything you need to create fabulous meals. The condo has high-speed internet, of course. If you need to work, two of the bedrooms have desks. If you feel like working out, you’ll find a couple of yoga mats and hand weights in the closet under the stairs. And, if you’re feeling musical, there’s a guitar and ukulele hanging on the walls and just waiting to be played.
With four bedrooms and four full bathrooms, there’s plenty of room for family and friends to get together for fun and relaxation.
There are two bedrooms on the first floor. The primary bedroom has a king-size bed; a spacious bathroom with a large walk-in shower, double sink vanities, and an infrared sauna; a Roku TV; a desk; and a private entry to the wraparound deck. The second bedroom on the first floor has a queen-size bed, a Roku TV, and a small balcony overlooking the Devil’s Knob golf course. There is a full bathroom, with a walk-in shower, right next to this bedroom.
There are two additional bedrooms on the second floor, both with private baths. One of them has a queen-size bed, Roku TV, a bathroom with a big walk-in shower, a desk, and a big window with a
commanding view of the mountains. The other bedroom has two twin beds, Roku TV, a bathroom with a tub, and a small balcony overlooking the golf course.
The experience
You’ll sleep like a baby in our high thread-count, pure cotton bed linens. Bathe in luxe showers, and dry off with our plush, oversized bath sheets. Soothe aching muscles in the infrared sauna. Marvel at the Milky Way on the huge deck or cuddle up on the comfy sofa in front of a crackling fireplace. Pick up one of the couple dozen how-to books on the bookshelf and learn how to navigate the stars (or use a compass, waltz, play the guitar, learn Italian, or write a novel). This condo is all about comfort and exploration.
Wintergreen offers countless activities throughout the year, including 30 miles of walking and hiking trails, lakes, pools, an adventure center with lots of activities for kids and adults – and, of course, skiing,
snowboarding, and tubing during the winter. There are 25 ski trails, from Green Circles to Double Black Diamonds. USA Today ranks Wintergreen’s tubing park, The Plunge, the best in the nation!
The resort spans the mountain and valley. During the summer, you’ll have access to the Chestnut Springs pool on the mountain and the Rodes Farm pool, tennis and pickleball courts, and golf down in
the valley. If you book a spa treatment during your visit, you can also use the Resort’s Aquatics and Fitness Center on the mountain. In July, Wintergreen hosts the month-long Wintergreen Music Festival,
with daily concerts, master classes, open rehearsals, and much more.
And Wintergreen is a great base for exploring the scores of breweries, wineries, distilleries, natural attractions, historic sites, and charming small towns within the region. A few of our favorites:
1. Blue Ridge Parkway: America’s longest linear park (469 miles!) offers hundreds of walking trails and breathtaking overlooks. Mile 0 is at Rockfish Gap, just a stone’s throw from Wintergreen.
2. Humpback Rocks: A hiking trail from the parking area at Mile 6.1 of the Parkway leads ¾ mile up to a stunning rock outcropping.
3. Crabtree Falls: One of the tallest sets of waterfalls east of the Mississippi.
4. Blue Ridge Tunnel: The tunnel, which goes under Afton Mountain, offers hiking and biking in near darkness.
5. Sherando Lake Recreation Area: Part of the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests, Sherando Lake is a 25-acre spring-fed lake with sandy beaches, picnic tables, and multiple trailheads.
6. Craft beverages: One could spend a week just exploring the region’s numerous breweries, wineries, and distilleries, including Devil’s Backbone Brewery, Bold Rock Hard Cidery, Silverback Distillery, and
Flying Fox Winery.
7. American Shakespeare Center: Nearby Staunton is home to the American Shakespeare Center and its Blackfriars Playhouse, the world’s only replica of Shakespeare’s famed indoor theatre. Staunton is
also the home of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum, and its bustling downtown won the prestigious Great American Main Street Award.
8. James River Runners: Go canoeing, kayaking, tubing, or rafting on the historic James River. This outfitter, based in Scottsville, handles all the details.
9. Charlottesville: A mecca for history buffs, Charlottesville is the home of the University of Virginia, two Presidential homes (Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello and James Monroe’s Ash Lawn), art museums, galleries, and scores of great restaurants.
10. Walton’s Mountain Museum: Nearby Schuyler is the boyhood home of “The Waltons” creator Earl Hamner and the inspiration for his many novels and screenplays.
Guest access
Guests will enjoy exclusive access to the entire condo, ensuring complete privacy and freedom during their stay. There is private on-site parking in front of the building. Guests will receive a code to unlock
the door 24 hours before their scheduled check-in.

Other things to note
The condo is on the top floor, and elevator access is not available, so it might not be a good choice for guests with limited mobility.
During ski season, there’s a shuttle bus to the Mountain Inn that stops in front of the condo every 30 minutes. Or, it’s about a 10-minute walk from the condo to the Highland Express chairlift, on Black Diamond ski slopes.
Chair lift and tubing tickets sell out quickly! We recommend buying tickets before you arrive. You’ll find links on Wintergreen Resort’s website. You may need to reserve ski rentals ahead of time, also (you can
rent ski equipment in winter and bicycles in summer from The Ski Barn, at the intersection of Rt. 151 and Rt. 664, at the bottom of the mountain).
Motorcycles are prohibited on the mountain. Guests driving motorcycles may park them at the entrance to the WPOA community office building during their stay.
There is a Ring doorbell next to the front door (for security) and a Ring camera on the deck, looking out over the valley and ski slopes and pointed away from the condo. You’ll have complete privacy inside the
condo and on the deck.
We welcome friendly, well-behaved, completely housebroken dogs under 45 pounds. There is an additional fee for bringing your dog.
