The lady working the desk in the lobby to this building was a super star (LaSondra). This building is run remotely by International House, one block away, but there was no notice on the booking page that the street was torn out and guests would have to drag their bags down a street under construction. The elevator, hallways and room were not clean, and the Studio we rented had not real privacy curtains, just shear panels. Also, cable TV never worked. Great location, but the owners need to be more transparent with the street condition and remote access and need to put more attention into building cleanliness and amenities functionality.

This hotel was really lovely! The ladies at the front desk were always super helpful and welcoming whenever I came in. My room was hands down one of the best Iā€™ve stayed in.

This lodging is no longer owned by the original management group. The lounge is closed - all you get is a room. Staffing at the front desk is minimal - often there is no one there and you have to go to the International House for service. Very disappointing experience

If you are picky and expect good hospitality, this is NOT the hotel for you. They treat this hotel like an after thought. The sister hotel is a block away. That is where all the amenities are located. There is construction going on right outside. The toilet is annoying. It runs for 30 minutes after you flush it. The shower is awkward. The shower head sprays out awkwardly and you can't adjust it. You basically have to fend for yourself. The luggage cart we had to roll down the block to the sister hotel and then take it back. Tub is nice but not large. Again, not too bad but not for me. I like people willing and available at all times.

This hotel is like an unfinished thought. It wants to be a nice place, but itā€™s like the money ran out before they could get there. No full-time staff, anything you need pretty much has to incur a walk to the International House hotel. I was given a different room after complaining of a malfunctioning, toilet and television, as well as no refrigerator present room. The new room fixed two out of three, but the television literally had nothing connected to it, not even power. It was fairly standard touch to include coffee and coffee mugs, there was literally no way to make coffee. No kettle, no machine.

All you need to know about Loft 523!!
Great location near Canal Street, really nice room and building with a minimalist feel, and awesome price. We loved it! However, to forewarn those looking for quiet, restful sleep... this is not it!! Loved the cement floors and big windows, but we stayed on a Sat night and it was LOUD! Party bus came down the little one way street around 2am and it was like we were partying with them! The music from outside was echoing in the cement room!! We did not mind it, but those reading this review may want to know that! Also, you have to check in a block down the street at International House, the building itself is literally just rooms right now, no personnel in the building; we were not aware of all this when booking. Not an issue for us, but would have liked to of known all the details in advance. We will def being staying again, we still loved it!

The maid took my bathrobe after the first day and never gave me a new one. Because of the air conditioning you really need one. The sink was clogged the entire time I was there - maid would have noticed that, and the lighting was poor. Maid also didnā€™t replace tissues or toilet paper when out, but Iā€™m a big boy so I did it. Bed was comfortable as were pillows. Location was excellent. Windows allow noise from street, but not the bed of the world. Did sleep well there. Oh - the shower heads are lame.

Check in was confusing wasn't informed had to check in at the sister hotel. Air conditioning quit working they moved us to another room at the sister hotel, the International and that air conditioner quit as well so had to move again. Stayed 3 nights two were HOT.

Staff was very friendly. Itā€™s in a convenient area so you can walk every where,but the shower did not have enough pressure, the room had a weird smell and it didnā€™t look like the pictures. It was like staying in an abandoned building. The lights in the bathroom are very dim.
