Welcome to the Martin Country Store, a one of a kind Hocking Hills lodging experience located at Fiddlestix Village. This authentic country store was built approximately around 1920 by Samuel Jarrett Martin. The Martin Country Store once stood beside busy cross-country U.S. 50 as it passed through rural Vinton County , Ohio. For many years it provided its hospitality to local residents and travelers alike serving up food, groceries, and gas. This beautiful building was donated to Fiddlestix Village in 2012 and since has been preserved and restored for guest lodging.
The Martin Country Store now welcomes travelers with a tremendous historical charm with all the comforts and amenities of home. Inside you will find a king sized bed for the grown-ups along with flip chairs that become beds for the kids in sleeping bags. Lining the walls are some original and reproduction shelving to match filled with period country store artifacts you can carefully handle and play with. Your bathroom has modern water-saving fixtures along with an amusing little red cupboard re-purposed as a vanity. Step up to the counter of the adorable soda-fountain-style kitchenette and have yourself a drink while sitting on a vintage stool overlooking the restored pot-belly stove now used as decoration only.
Although our Martin Store was never used as a postal station many country stores did serve as locations for mail pick up. Within the walls of the country store you will find a antique postal station that purportedly once served the neighboring village of New Plymouth. Outside you'll find a large covered front porch very typical of the time period as well as a back deck with a view of the gardens and woods.

Needed Time Away
Arrived at location without any issues with directions given. Just wasn't sure were to park at. Attacked by a wasp. But it didn't know who it was messing with. RIP Wasp. Shower and tub was very much-needed. Satellite signal and internet connection was not very strong. Needed to get away from the world for a few days. But it was okay with me.

Great location
Cute cabin with in 5 min of hocking hills attractions . Reasonably priced . Would like to see the raspberries trimmed back a little off the back deck but nothing major , would also like to see independent fire ring . But really is a great themed cabin and nice to stay in well worth staying . The family really enjoyed the get away !! Will recommend .

Nostalgia and comfort
We had a nice stay and enjoyed the nostalgia of the days-gone-past general store atmosphere. The bed was very comfortable and the other cabins and guests were friendly. It is close to d Man’s Cave and Ash Cave. I would just recommend that the entry drive be fixed (terrible potholes). The WiFi is still nearly non-existent, but if you want an escape from technology and be able to enjoy a true getaway…this is a very nice place.

Great for what we needed
We enjoyed our stay. We traveled 4hrs to take our pups on a long hike in Hocking Hills. This rustic little cottage had everything we needed for our short stay. I would definitely stay again in the future!

Quaint and fun
For any "vintage" lovers, this is the village to stay in. We enjoy antiques, history, etc and this is such a great place to enjoy those things. We recommend taking an electric skillet or slow cooker as there are no ways to cook for yourself. The microwave is currently out of commission so plan for that or check before you go. We were visiting our daughter who is in school at OU and this was only about 35min from her. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying in the other buildings in the village!

I am in agreement with Kathy R. The picture used shows a well manicured yard which was not the case. The bathroom sink does not drain well. We did not have a back up in the shower. Couch is well worn and you slide to the middle. Kitchen sink was dirty. Over all the floors appeared clean there was a dog treat on the floor under the shelving. The entire place needs dusting. I was going to use the ceiling fan in the bedroom until I seen the amount of dust on it. A furnance filter is stuffed down in the main floor vent and really needs changed. On the upside the furnance did work very well. We will not stay again!

I’m sorry to say we did not stay the second night. We were very disappointed in the condition of the rental. Not only did the smell irritate my allergies but the dust all over everything compounded it. The bathtub and bathroom sink both do not drain while using it. The kitchen sink was also dirty and floors were dirty with dust and leaves. I was totally taken back by him not letting people know the distance you have to carry your luggage and other items since you couldn’t drive to the front. The so called “ walkway “ was horrible especially when we came in after dark and there were no lights for us to see. The extreme disarray of the deck and disgusting table and chairs there to use on the deck was unbelievable. When I open the back door and saw the deck and furniture, I was stunned to see thousands of ants crawling all over the back door and trim. How he has a premier status is completely astounding.

Going back in time
What a great place to visit. I appreciate that you're able to hold the stuff inside. It's quaint, cozy, but also social. Not luxurious or spot free, but it is the 1920s, after all. Had a great time. Go if you're interested in history and the outdoors.

The cabin is adorable!! Very clean.
The only issue was finding it on a dark raining night. Need to put in the description that you park in the parking lot then walk the path between two cabins to get back to the general store. Need the lamp post on the walk way to light up. We had to use the flashlights on our cell phones to walk the path.

Step back in time!
My wife and I loved it. Just loved it. We had a great time. Five Stars and highly recommend it. Two minor points to be aware of: WIFI is listed as an amenity but it works so poorly it really shouldn't be. Cell phones don't work either. It's something to be aware of. Second, there js some dust if you have allergies or issues. Honestly, it's probably impossible for their not to be dust given the location, but if you are sensitive it could be a concern. Neither of these things bothered my wife and I, but wanted to share. FIVE STARS! FIVE STARS!!!!!

Great first trip to Hocking Hills!
We enjoyed our stay at the General Store in Fiddlestix. It has great personality, was clean and super quiet. We wished the wifi or our own cell service worked, but it was nice to detach from the world for a little bit. The location was great since we didn't need to drive very far to HH hikes, Logan, or Nelsonville. Overall, a great stay!

Better than we expected
Our stay at the general store was great. It was the perfect size for our family and was really cute and unique. We hiked all day and it was nice to come back to a clean, quiet, cozy, place at night. I am prettty sure based upon cars in the parking lot fiddlestix village was entirely booked, but we would have never known if we didn’t see the cars in the morning! Everyone was so quiet coming and going. We would book again.

Overall enjoyed the stay
Nicely decorate on the inside but it just needs a little TLC in the cleaning department. Lots of dust and cob webs. That being said most areas of important were clean like bathroom and kitchen. For those people who like to be connected to the internet their wireless service provided didn't work. The water while showering had a bad smell. Not sure what caused that. Other than that we enjoyed our stay there. I liked the idea of the village and other rental properties. The exterior of all these properties and grounds could use some landscaping to make this place very special.
