The Night Hotel will do the job if you’re not planning on spending much time at the hotel. Staff weren’t the friendliest, place wasn’t the cleanest. In saying that, it was in a good location, just out of the way of the chaos, but a 5 min subway ride or walk through Central Park from it.

This was the most expensive no-frills room I have ever had. I know NYC hotel stays are not cheap, however, this hotel is in dire need of an update in the rooms. The lobby/hallways were perfectly lovely, but the room has carpet that has to be 40 years old and worn, there was an actual burn mark in the shape of an iron melted into the carpeting, the wallpaper was peeling...not ONE picture or even cheap piece of artwork hanging on the walls, the mattress cover did not fit and exposed the stained mattress, there wasn't even a bar of soap in the bathroom or a hook on the wall or the back of the door. It was clean otherwise, but sorely lacking in what a cheap fix could do. Go to the dollar store or buy artwork in bulk and get something hanging on the walls. Take the cheap, peeling wallpaper down and slap a cheap coat of paint in a striking color and call it nouveaux...get the right size mattress cover, find an art school and use practice works to display in the rooms.....you have guys sitting at the desks on their phones, give them some paint and have them repaint the numbers back on to the elevator buttons, it was so dark and they were so worn out, we couldn't tell what the buttons were for...add a hook to the bathroom door in the room, get cheap nightstands from anywhere that can fit more, rip out the nasty carpet and lay cheap plank flooring and a cheap rug-yes, this takes money, but for nearly $300/night, make this a hotel we would come back to:) Friendly staff helped this:)

The hotel is a great location. The room was extremely outdated - dirty, sink and toilet had broken parts, sink was dirty, floor reeked of pot, wallpaper and carpet were peeling. No outlets near bed, only two sets of outlets.

Whoever they hired to take pictures needs an award because this hotel was not as advertised. The rooms were far smaller than portrayed. The entire floor we stayed on smelled like a gym locker room. But the best part, when we pulled back the shower curtain, we were greeted by no less than 8 pubic hairs in various places in the tub, turned around disgusted only to find that the cleaners hadn’t swept behind the door. And we found wood chips under one of the beds pillows. While I expected small, not my first time in NYC, but teeny and filthy were not something you expect when you pay this much for a room Staff was nice but indifferent. Their parking was only a block so super convenient.

This property is conveniently located right near the subway with express trains to the bottom of the island and a simple bus line across the part to the east side. It’s a very old property. Things are shoddy. The plugs are not sturdy and some things fall out of them, there are no dressers for clothes. The drains back up, the heating and AC are very loud, and the carpet is like indoor outdoor with a very dark cover. I wore “room socks” and they were filthy at the end. Worst was one night, some random guy came knocking at the doors at 9:30pm to make sure we had heat as he was going off shift. As if, something had gone wrong they wouldn’t do anything?? But to knock on peoples doors was unsettling.

Comfortable and Affordable
The Night Hotel on Broadway is a great place to stay in NYC. Clean, affordable and a cozy place to rest your head each night. The bed was super comfortable. Location was great as the subway was a block away and you're sandwiched between Central Park and the lovely walking paths along the Hudson. We were there for 4 nights and on the last night the a/c unit would make some loud noises every once in a while but I don't believe it was on and there were some quirky placements of things like the hand soap dispenser in the shower and lotion dispenser where the handsoap should be next to the sink, but that wasn't a problem, just a funny thing. Other than that I would totally stay here again!

Note that there is a $14.99/night surcharge for internet, water and snacks that is paid on check-in. There were no snacks in my room, and the Wifi was spotty and frequently dropped. On the bright side, they were good about storing my luggage for a few extra hours after I checked out. The room was decent - as would be expected for a lower end hotel.

Hotel added a mandatory separate fee for "drinks and snacks", that was not part of the agreement, additionally, we never received the drinks and snacks. The good things are; You are in Manhattan, few steps from subway and multiple dining options. Bad things, it is old, dirty, it feels unsafe, the room was ugly, no decoration, parts without painting, it was the typical hotel from horror movies where a maniac will rob you and take your parts away, luckily that didn't happened.

The carpet is probably as old as the building…bring flips flops. I also found a condom wrapper under the one side of the bed so you can tell it wasn’t cleaned thoroughly. (At least it wasn’t the used condom!) The front staff and security are friendly and it feels safe.
