High mountain climate: At altitudes between 1000 and 3000 meters above sea level, the so-called high mountain climate prevails, which benefits people suffering from asthma.
Almost all components of the air change with increasing altitude above sea level: oxygen content, air temperature and humidity decrease, solar radiation and average wind speed increase.
All allergens - whether animal or vegetable - occur much less frequently in the high mountains or are not there at all, which can have a positive effect on asthma sufferers.
Dust mites, for example, cannot survive above 1600 m because of the dry air. Even mold can not develop in the low humidity. Because of the long winters, pollen flies in less concentration and later than in the valley.
The clean, low-pollutant and allergen-free air reduces the overreaction of the respiratory tract and the immune system.
