The Moxy is absolutely amazing. It’s a nice Chic Hotel. I just wished it was 2-3 blocks away from where it is currently at. When you’re within the walls of the moxy it’s a different world But outside it’s Gotham city.

Hotel good, location not so much
Green light- hotel nice and clean, staff friendly and helpful. Yellow Light- It has a party/ youth hostel vibe. Red Light- It's in downtown Oakland without parking at the hotel. The only parking lots were unsecured -> park at your own risk or don't bring a car. Even the surrounding businesses' staff said it wasn't safe. I was also woken up at 2a Sunday morning by 2 cars who wanted to play chicken with each other doing doughnuts in the intersection in front of the hotel.

Incompetent Management. Not maintained property, (HVAC been out for over two months)! Oversold rooms that are habitable, forgot to tell customers and “can’t refund because booked through Travelocity”. Basically can’t take any responsibility for maintaining property or reservations. Also worst part of town: dangerous after dark and no room service. So risk a knife fight or go hungry or gribhub.

There was no parking included and then there was not even valet service. We spent almost an hour looking for a parking spot instead of relaxing in our hotel on a 24 hour getaway for my birthday as a mom of two kids. Very frustrating. And the the mini fridge was so noisy, turning on and off all night, we couldn't sleep. This hotel was not worth the price.

Having stayed at a "Moxy" location in San Diego, I was happy to book at this location in Oakland. Some may not enjoy the "concept" of the Moxy hotels, but I find them to be a fun, quirky, adventurous option for weekenders/shorter stays than a more "traditional" hotel. Location was good/felt safe.
