Beautiful and Cosy Countryhouse Overlooking Orvieto

This is the guesthouse of a beautiful countryhouse located in the middle of a vast estate of vineyards and olive grows ,overlooking the ancient city of Orvieto. From here you can easily reach, by train or car, many important cities like Rome,Florence ,Siena, Perugia ,Viterbo and many others. Lake Bolsena, 9 km away, offers nice beaches and water sports.
The house is on two levels: on the ground floor there are a nice living room with pelletstove, a master bedroom, a bathroom with shower and a studio or second bedroom with one or two bed.
On the second floor there are a fully equipped kitchen , a bathroom with shower and a terrace with pergola for eating al fresco overlooking Orvieto. A large garden surround the house.
18x8 metres swimming pool to be shared with another house at 500 metres.

During the winter months the cost of heating is separate, normally a bag of pellet is required per day ( approximately 9 euros)

Great Winery Escape
My wife and I came to Italy from a big city in the US. Weve realized when we vacation we want peace and tranquility and feel like we're one of the few people left on earth. This place was just what we needed, but our host was right there if we needed anything. Don't sleep on Orvieto either - the churches are beautiful, there's the amazing underground tours, and some of the best (while still being the cheapest?) food we had during our two week stop.

Pretty house in beautiful Orvieto
The house is very nice and in beautiful position looking across the countryside with views towards Orvieto and the Cathedral, which is easily reached via the funiculare railway, there is much to do in the town with lovely shops and cafes. It would have been nice after a long journey to have had some milk in fridge, we were visited by a lovely old dog and a little cat everyday, both being animal lovers, we enjoyed this. Unfortunately the mosquitos and other biting insects were not so welcome! The pool is lovely and although not far it is a shame that it is not close to house. mosquitos and other biting insects.

Pretty property in a great location
This very well equipped and comfortable property was in a very quiet location with magnificent views. Just 10 minutes drive from the centre of beautiful Orvieto, everything we needed was provided with space and peace to truly relax both inside and in the lovely private outside space. Simonetta, our host, was very welcoming and helpful, and available should we have needed anything. Although we didn't use it ourselves, there was a private swimming pool available on the owners property just a short distance away. There is much to do and see within quite a short distance and Orvieto itself is a fascinating place. The Orvieto Card which gave entry to a number of historic buildings and museums was definitely worth buying. And the Duomo was truly beautiful! This was the first time we have stayed in Umbria and the combination of lovely countryside and wonderful villages and towns to explore made it a really good holiday destination. We couldn't fault anything.

Just Perfect!-The real Italian life
When I first saw this listing, and all of the previous reviews were a perfect 10, i had two thoughts: Either the place is perfect, or the reviews have been "fixed". Its perfect! Small "out-building" on a working vineyard, just far enough from town. The space is on the smaller side, but set up in a modern decor so everything works. 2 good bathrooms, great washing machine, outside space for dining and cocktail hour, peaceful pool, and the best view imaginable. The winery tour and the cooking lesson/lunch are not to be missed. The property has a cat and 2 dogs who visit occasionally. very friendly! When I return to Orvieto, i will not need to scroll through all the property listings. I will just book this place again. A unique gem!

Peaceful and Relaxing Stay
Four of us enjoyed this cozy, charming house for two weeks. It was clean, well supplied and close to Orvieto which was wonderful. We quickly felt a connection with Simonetta and her family who were welcoming and responsive. The setting was quiet and the view overlooking the valley and Duomo was terrific. A touching, memorable experience.

So beautiful
This apartment was, without question, the most beautiful place we stayed during our 2+ week visit to Italy. Adjacent to the apartment is a patio and green space (which is part of the winery, but feels completely private), with spectacular views of Orvieto and a very green and lush valley. The apartment itself was clean, comfortable, quiet, and charmingly decorated. We arranged with the host to take a tour of the winery and a cooking class, which we all enjoyed immensely. The host was very responsive and helpful both before and during our stay. I feel lucky to have stayed in this beautiful place, and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Cozy Vineyard Cottage
The pictures are spot on. Its beautiful, cozy, quiet and complete with all the kitchen items you may need. There is a washer & gas stove. You have a gorgeous view of Orvieto. If we make it back to Italy we will definitely stay here again. Simonetta was a wonderful host.

Just outside Orvieto at its best.
It was just relaxing and lovely. The host is gracious, friendly, and unobtrusive. The views of Orvieto from the pa tio and private yard just make you relax and enjoy life. Walking the vineyards, tasting the wine, and petting the donkey are all added bonuses. And the city of Orvieto, its culture, and its amenities are just a few minutes away.

Highly Recommend!
We stayed here for a month and couldn't be happier with our choice. Simonetta was a wonderful, responsive and accommodating host. The guest house offers the best of both worlds ... a quiet get away overlooking vineyards and Orvieto. Perfect for watching sunsets while sipping on the excellent wine from their Le Vellette winery. It's a short drive to the ancient city of Orvieto, filled with great restaurants, shops and old world places to visit. Highly recommend staying here!

Amazing !
One of the most relaxing properties we have stayed at. The house is charming and when you arrive you can tell that you are in a special place. The hosts are truly lovely people and their grounds are beautiful. The house is clean and equipped with everything you would need. We made dinner at home 2 nights and enjoyed the sunset over Orvieto while dining outside. Definitely do a tour of the winery on the property, we enjoyed learning the history of the winery and the property. The drive into the city is a quick 10 minutes down the hill. We highly recommend this property.

Truly a "cozy country house" in a beautiful part of Italy
The house was comfortable and well maintained with just about everything we needed to make our three weeks in Orvieto comfortable and memorable. The owner, Simonetta was very helpful and speaks fluent English which was a big help to us with no Italian! The house is on the Le Velette estate of 250 Ha with 100 Ha of vines so the wines, which are good quality and very reasonably priced, can be tasted at the winery. Orvieto itself is about 10-15 minutes away by car (and some careful driving on the switchback mountain road) so there is plenty to see locally and many good restaurants. Simonetta's two dogs and very friendly cat will also make you very welcome!

Slice of heaven!
We loved our stay in this delightful cottage. It was so tranquil and beautiful - felt like our own private vineyard with an amazing view, great sunsets, wonderful wine, and even visits from the family dog! We enjoyed our tour of the vineyard and history lesson with Teresa. The cottage is a nice blend of antique and modern, and well-appointed with a very comfortable bed, and full-stocked kitchen. Would love to come back again when the grapes are growing - can only imagine it is doubly beautiful! Grazie!

A peaceful, beautifully situated cottage with fabulous shared pool.
A lovely, comfortable cottage with everything you need for a good stay. Simonetta could not have been more helpful and friendly. And the views from the terrace overlooking Orvieto will be long remembered.. To add to all this you can buy discounted (and delicious) wines from their own vineyard. What’s not to like!

Book here. It's as simple as that.
We're a family of 4. We have teenagers. We're British....but don't click away just yet. And we've travelled a bit over this planet. I've always said we'd never got back anywhere. Never. The world is too big. There's always a different corner. The familiar business of 'we must come back' written by a guest in cheap biro in a dusty dog eared visitors' book never rang true. I'll tell you what though; we'd love to come back to Il 2. Seriously. It is that good. Come here. See the sun set over these hills behind Orvieto and tell your grand kids. Taste the wine from the estate and boast about it at the pub. Kick back and relax by the pool and just let time run slowly. The house and the grounds allow stresses to drain away. Read this in November. It's dark at 5:00pm. It's cold. It's Sunday. You're watching Antiques Roadshow. Now think of a place where sun, sky and rolling hills merge. Think of a vineyard and wine and endless rolling views over southern Umbria. If this place is available and you've read this much then click on. Book it.

Amazing Stay
Although our stay in Umbria was relatively short, it was the most memorable part of our vacation. Simonetta and her family are the most wonderful people in all of Italy. And the 2-story countryhouse was clean, cozy and well stocked. We did not want to leave. The view of Orvieto and the country side was amazing and directly from the kitchen area. We spent a lot of time waching sunsets. We had an opportunity to do a little wine tasting and swimming on the property. But the highlight was the cooking class with chef Patricia. Simonetta arranged a class for my family to make pasta, ragu, pizza, bruschette, and ciambelline al vino. We had the most wonderful sunset feast that evening. il 2 is a cozy 2-story cottage with the kitchen, table, bathroom and sitting area on the top floor and 2 bedrooms, bathroom and living room down a spiral staircase. It has a washing machine for clothes, tv and wifi. Perfect for myself, wife and two teenage kids. The location was 12 minutes by car to Orvieto, 5 minutes to the train station and close enough to many towns in Umbria/ Tuscany that we took a few day trips. Overall this was the highlight of our trip.
