There are parking issues. When we arrived from out of town there was no parking available and we had a drive over to a near-by mall and park underground. It was inconvenient to not have the ability to park on-site.

The room look and smell stink from the mattress and furniture are broken. Part of wooden furniture fall off in the washroom and fell on my feet. The door need a guy power to push through to be able to open. Don’t expect this kind of experience at this hotel.

Pay for the valet parking. Trust me. At $52 / night it may seem like a lot, but the parking garage alternatives in the area are very undesirable. We stopped for one night in Ottawa both to and from Que City so we're at the Chateau Laurier twice in a week. The first night I lost my ticket in the Byward Market lot and was charged $60 as a result. On the second stay, in another parking garage in the area we, along with everyone we encountered during the ten minutes we were in the lot, had trouble understanding how to download and use the indigo app to pay for parking. These lots are unattended so no one to ask and instructions were unclear. We eventually gave up, drove out and went with the Fairmount's valet, who had our bags delivered by the bellhop to our room immediately after we checked in. Also, we upgraded to Gold membership for an extra $100 / night, providing access to expedited check-in and access to the lounge for one of the best buffet breakfasts we've ever had, and dinner ordhouerves and deserts that we used as our dinner. Between those two meals for the two of us, we probably recouped the $100 right there.
