Close to Oxford and Miami U. Pet friendly, and away from college shenanigans

Come stay at the historic Brown farm (circa 1818). The cottage is the farm’s original ice house, but is far from chilly. The cottage has been completely renovated, while saving a few historic details. We recently went solar and have an auto generator, so you can feel good about environmental impact, while never being disturbed by a power outage.

The cottage is best described as a studio apartment. It has a full kitchen, bedroom/living space and full bath (shower only). The bedroom/living space has a queen (medium firm) bed. The cottage is optimal for 2 guests; however, two inflatable twin mattresses are available for additional guests. It will be tight quarters with the inflatable beds, so be prepared for that.

Guests have access to a heated pool (May15- October 1) and hot tub (year round).

Come enjoy our 14 acre property including our native prairie restoration project. Our stocked pond and paddle boat are there for you to enjoy along with a pond-side fire pit.

We are pet friendly ($20.00 fee), but do not have fencing to contain your furry friends. There are two dog parks close by and our entire property is available for leash walking.

We are less than 2 miles from uptown Oxford and Miami U, and 3 miles from Hueston Woods State Park which offers mountain biking trails, road riding, Acton Lake, hiking trails, horseback riding (summer only) a dog park and great birding. The Hueston Woods Lodge has a nice restaurant that rarely has a long wait.

Delightful stay in this great VRBO. Perfect location next to Hueston Woods, but close to Oxford. The pool and hot tub were very nice with floats, toys and a great table with umbrella. The Ice House had a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need. The hosts were very accommodating and available. We will definitely return!!

Checked in Wednesday evening , was supposed to check out Sunday but unfortunately we are on our way back home. :( We enjoyed our stay up until this afternoon (Friday). My wife and I were on our way out of the rental cottage, I had just shut the door when I see the owners dog come charging at my wife. He was viciously lunging at her, showing his teeth and barking. Thankfully the owner heard and stepped out of the barn to yell several times to get the dog to stop. We were warned upon arrival the dog is aggressive and protective of Kathleen. Usually he was behind the fence but today he was running freely, not on a leash. Please beware of him!!! I am still in tears and pretty shaken up.

A Hidden Treasure
We wanted a place not too far from home just to unwind and relax. Adorable clean little cottage. Close to so many things - yet you feel like you are out far away. We have rented 15+ properties over the years on Vrbo including ocean front etc and this property is easily one of my favorites. The attention to detail with the guests in mind is near perfect. Gracious, kind, attentive host we felt welcomed and very comfortable. Hot tub and heated pool were amazing conveniently located outside our door. Gorgeous pond to relax by and or fish while enjoying the view of the lovely property. Literally 5 min drive to Mia of Oh, you would not believe it based on the serenity of the location.
