Welcome to the Balfour Farm Shearer's Quarters, set in amongst a large, established garden. Located on the main road just south of Pahiatua.
We are 2 hours from Wellington, 30-40mins from Palmerston North and Dannevirke.
We have 2 bedrooms one with a double bed and the other with 2 singles, both off a cosy living area with woodburner fire. Old style kitchen with all amenities. Bathroom has a basin, toilet and shower. Small deck with outlook onto lovely lawn with chooks and pig grazing in the paddock beyond.
This is a working farm, you will hear dogs and motorbikes close by.

A brilliant & beautiful agricultural location
Excellent - does exactly what it says. It is quite but just off State Highway 2, it is situated in a working farm with socialable hosts. Everything about the property works well.

We had a lovely stay for two nights. It was a wet weekend so we didn't get out to do much walking but what we did see of the farm was gorgeous! It was nice being able to sit on the deck and watch the animals, was my sister's favourite part of our trip. It's an easy place to find and a good space to park your car, we had a Toyota Corolla hatch and even in the rain we didn't find any trouble in the driveway. Hosts were great, they don't bother you at all and are very friendly when you do see them. Beautiful place, lovely time, thank you so much again for letting us stay on your gorgeous farm!

Real glimpse of a busy, well managed farm. Loved the animal antics, cow with calves confronting busy dog. Loved the log fire. Shower was great. Would like to come again Pity the booking fee was a bit expensive.

It was lovely being on a farm and reading all the information about the farmers, farm and location. Helpful walks outlined which we availed ourselves of and enjoyed the farm! Views were beautiful. House clean and comfy with artistic touches!

Life on a working farm
A lovely rural setting yet so close to town. Sheep, lambs, kunekune and ten crazy hens right at the doorstep was a delight. Lots of room in the shearer’s quarters with a lovely fifties rustic style kitchen. Friendly hosts made for a great stay.

Handy to township is a tidy property previously shearers quarters on a working farm. Served its purpose for our overnight stay & would stay again. The chooks, dogs & pig were a great part of the experience. The wood fire made the property very welcoming

Clean, warm, tidy, relaxing.
Having a TV to blob in front of would have been the cherry on top. Regardless of no TV, the surrounding area outside was entertaining, inside was good, having the fire going warmed the place up - it was raining. Beds comfortable, awesome shower, relaxing sofa / chairs. Clean, warm and tidy. Thanks.

Beautiful location on farmland amongst an array of animals. The Bach was very well equipped, immaculate with a log-burner for cold nights. Lovely hosts who showed us some great walks on their farm with stunning views . Thank you :)

Lovey rural escape
Great communication with the host from first booking. The place was set amongst farmland and lots of animals. A real treat and perfect place to escape the city. Very well equipped kitchen, great log burner (which was even lit ready for our arrival)and comfy sofa and beds. Would definitely return.
