The Coach House is a detached property situated in the centre of a small modern development on the south coast of Cornwall in Par. The nearest beach is Par Beach which is about a 25 minute walk away (10 by car). Not the most scenic beach in the area by any means - that has to be Porthpean near Charlestown, or Polkerris or Readymoney - but it’s ok for a look at the sea & a nice stroll on the sand. Charlestown is 4 miles from us & it’s lovely. The harbour is very pretty & has been used for Poldark. Some nice pubs & restaurants here & some good antique shops. Porthpean Beach is very close to here & is really nice. The beautiful harbour towns of Fowey and Mevagissey, often used as locations in BBC's Poldark, are just 6 miles away. Crabbing at both these towns is excellent! My personal favourite is Fowey as in Summer you can use the pontoon. Just grab a spot and a pasty and wait for the crabs to roll in! The Eden Project is just 10 muinutes away & well worth a visit. There is also a lovely family beach at nearby Polkerris where there is a great variety of watersports & a cafe. This beach is also home to The Rashleigh Inn, one of the oldest pubs in Cornwall, and, Sam's On The Beach restaurant, both hugely popular all year round. This is a lovely, clean apartment that sleeps 4 people comfortably. There is parking right outside the front door. You go upstairs and the whole top floor is the apartment!! We have free BT Fibre broadband which is reliable. The living area is open plan with a TV & DVD player so no one is banished to the kitchen. Great for spending time with family and friends. The kitchen is lovely and modern. It includes a dishwasher, microwave and full size fridge freezer but no washing machine. There are two bathrooms, one of which is an ensuite shower room. The family bathroom also has a shower over the bath. All towels included. The nearest local pub is about 10 minutes walk away, The Par Inn, which doesn’t do food. There is a fish & chip shop close by (Holmbush Fish Bar). Also The Little Plaice & Val’s Fish n Chips. You’ll need to drive to these. My personal favourite is The Fisherman’s Chippy at Mevagissey. There is a brilliant Nile’s Cafe/Bakery along Holmbush Road which sells gorgeous pasties & cakes. They also do good breakfasts & lunches. There are lots of corner shops within walking distance & a nice Co-op. There is also a big Asda and a Tesco about 10 minutes drive away. We have two 18-hole golf courses near us. One at Carlyon Bay & one at Lanhydrock. Lanhydrock House is owned by the National Trust and is one of the few houses to still have its original kitchen. It also has lots of new bike trails & beautiful walks. The walk to it from Respryn Bridge is lovely. We also have Par railway station about 15 mins walk away where you can take the train easily to St. Ives, Falmouth, Truro & Newquay. There is a cut through to the station opposite Val’s Fish & Chip shop. We have even taken the train as far as Plymouth to visit the aquarium & to stroll on Plymouth Hoe. A great option when it rains! The train ride to St. Ives is gorgeous as you get to travel along the stunning Carbis Bay. Traffic and parking to St. Ives can be a nightmare so this is a great alternative to driving & struggling to park. The train to Plymouth takes you over the River Tamar using the Royal Albert Bridge which was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Views are amazing! A walk on The Hoe is a must! You can even get the train direct from Paddington station (London) to Par! This really is a great location and we have tried to make it a home from home. Whether you want to go “proper shopping” in Truro, take a boat trip from Falmouth up the Helford River or enjoy some amazing cliff top walks, you will have a great Cornish getaway. (We are more than happy to consider short breaks of three nights or more nearer to the time of booking) . We do ask for a damage deposit of £75 which is paid separately. I then refund it back at the end of the stay.
