Great base camp.
Well situated for making several day trips in the area. Cabin sits on a very spacious lawn - I doubt we would have heard anyone in the neighboring cabins.

Lovely place to stay
My fiancee, dog and I spent a couple days at this cabin and it was lovely. Fair warning the area does not have any reception, but the cabin's wifi worked perfectly. Everything in the cabin was fresh and clean and it felt like home. Would definitely recommend.

WV Mountain Retreat
SemperFi cabin was the perfect home base retreat for our excursions around the Elkins WV area. The cabin was perfectly located and a quiet peaceful retreat when we were relaxing. The babbling trout stream and the birds singing made for an idyllic atmosphere. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed.

Great Little Cabin!
There was a mix up with the booking and the property had not been cleaned thoroughly from the last visitors. The property manager and local contact remedied the issue and the stay was still fantastic. I would absolutely recommend this cabin for anyone wanting to visit the mountains of West Virginia.

Beautiful place but no internet or wifi
The place was beautiful. There was wifi available but did not work. The only TV that was suppose to be available was Netflix, which is good. But the wifi wouldn't work. They have a router but it wouldn't work. So if you stay and want to watch TV before bed bring a DVD player. And bring a radio.

The stay was awesome. The cabin was very clean. Everything we needed was there...clean linens, dishes, refrigerator I mean Everything. My husband and I had a very relaxing time. The property manager checked on us to make sure we were fine when the electricity went out, not by phone but came by. It was a great experience. 👍

Nice rental
The property is is well taken care of and had a beautiful view of the stream running beside it. If staying there bring bottled water, the water had an awful smell of chlorine. When taking a shower, water went all over the floor, used 2 rugs and a towel to take a shower, there is no mop there. The fridge wouldn't freeze popsicles. There is a fire pit and picnic table. I found that the cabins were to close together for me, I like more privacy. All in all we had a wonderful time with what we had planned on seeing and doing near the area.

Cozy Cabin in the Countryside
Charming little cabin. The rustic interior is clean and well kept. It was a bit small for our family of 5 adults but would be perfect for a couple or a family with younger children. My only real complaint is the water. It cannot be used for drinking or cooking, which was fine, but it had a rusty tint and smell. Owner is currently working on rectifying this problem. We would stay here again.

Great peaceful getaway in the fall foliaged mountains with a stream in the back
My wife and I were looking for a quick peaceful getaway and that's exactly what this was. The scenery from the cabin was incredible as the leaves were in full fall foliage and the sounds of a babbling brook in the backyard with all the chirpings of crickets and birds really helped recharge my batteries. Nothing like roasting some sausages over the fire with a glass of wine to the sounds of the crickets while the moon rose over the trees.

Wild, wonderful WVa
We were looking for an out of the way base to enjoy the outdoors in West Virginia. This place fit the bill for sure. A cozy cabin, with wrap around porch, reasonably furnished, on the bank of a babbling brook. The cabin is great, although it could be cramped for more than two adults, and a child or two. It was reasonably close to things we wanted to see, Blackwater Falls, the towns of Davis and Thomas, and incredible scenery. This is one of five cabins, each dedicated to a branch of the military; this one was the Marines, so Semper Fi! The water supply is apparently not considered potable, but we were given more than an adequate supply of bottled water. The only other negative is the TV. Our first night there we tried and tried to get the TV to work to no avail. The next night we were advised that the TV only works for Netflicks. We couldn't even get that to work.

Family Disconnect from Virtual Everything!
The property was absolutely beautiful. Far away from anything. Little to no internet most of the time. Netflix, but in and out due to internet- which is ok. We enjoyed playing all the kid board games and walking around the10" of snowfall from the day prior. The feel of being in a cabin in the snow by a river with big mountains was a truly amazing experience. I would recommend this cabin, however I would want to know that these 3 things are addressed. 1st- A special note within the check in instructions to not follow GPS directions to follow Sugarlands Rd and stay on Seneca Trail Rt 219 if coming from the east. Sugarlands rd is a wide 1 lane, direct drop down cliffs on both sides with no guard rails and no visibility due to elevation with fog. Locals will ride your butt if you aren't moving fast enough. 2nd the coffee maker was completely corroded with orange gunk. I attempted to clean it, but no use. Easier to buy a new one. So, this resulted in us going to Mcdonalds - 8 miles away - to get coffee. I didn't call the owners as this wasn't something they needed to address at that time. We made due. 3rd the floor in the bathroom around the standup shower had completely gave way. One step and the floor sinks down. The shower floor and the bathroom floor are flush, water was easily pouring into bathroom floor and rotting the wood underneath. There were no smells or real inconvenience, but I have seen other reviews mention this and would think it would be a priority to fix. The owners were quick to respond via text message when we were looking for some local grub. Really nice couple.

Decent pet friendly place
My wife and I had a pretty good time in this cabin overall, though it wasn't quite what we were expecting, so maybe I can add some clarity for future renters. First, this place is run by a non profit that caters to veterans, so the whole place is decked out in military-themed decor everywhere (google patriots4 for details). It's not as comfy-cozy as we would have liked for a winter vacation, with thin blankets, few pillows, and no carpets. The wrap around porch was nice, though it doesn't face the river, which is a shame since the river is beautiful. The property itself was nice as well, there are other cabins nearby but not so close that you feel bothered. The location near Parsons was reasonably close to the hiking we wanted to do, though it would be a long drive on treacherous roads if you wanted to ski every day so don't rent it for that. The only real issue we had besides lack of comfort was that the bathroom floor had some serious water damage that made it feel like we were going to fall through it, though staff assured me they were getting that fixed (presumably after our stay). I was genuinely worried about putting a foot in the wrong place in that room, which made even brushing my teeth an uncomfortable proposition. There also isn't a ton of hot water, but it's workable once you know you should wait a while between showers and not expect a really long hot shower. Overall a reasonable cabin, but I expected something a bit higher quality for the price. If it were less expensive, the floor was fixed, and it wasn't winter, I'd likely stay here again. As it stands, I think I'll look elsewhere next time I'm exploring the area.
