Abernethy is steeped in history; it is known as the home of the Pictish Kings and there is much evidence of their time here. Visit the 12th Century Round Tower, one of only 2 in Scotland, and climb to the top to enjoy panoramic views towards the Firth of Tay. The Fair City of Perth is a short drive away, with its concert hall, theatre, museum, art galleries, great shops and superb restaurants. There are many golf courses in the area, including St Andrews, less than an hour’s drive. Along the way, explore the beaches and villages of the east coast of Fife or head north for a day in the Highlands. An hour’s drive will get you to Edinburgh or Glasgow, to enjoy the history and culture of these major cities.

Fantastic
A fantastic location. Very central for visiting just about all of Scotland. The cottage was wonderful. Clean, warm, comfortable and the renovation of an old traditional building was to the highest standard. Our host, Bob, was exceptionally helpful on our arrival and easily contacted if required. Other than the odd wave if we saw him, he left us to enjoy our holiday. Although Abernethy itself has little to offer, there is plenty of shops, pubs and restaurants all within easy reach. As a family of 3 oldies, 66 – 90, we had a thoroughly good time and would highly recommend to anyone.
