Oyster Haven is a renovated circa 1830 farmhouse that combines vintage charm with all the modern conveniences, including a state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen with two ovens and an enormous central island perfect for large family gatherings.
Located on the shore of Lake Champlain, this immaculate and comfortable vacation home boasts an acre and a half of property that includes a deck, a large patio with a fire pit, and a grassy yard that stretches out to where stairs lead down to a private beach. With 250 feet of lake frontage, a dock, two kayaks, a canoe, a stand-up paddle board, and a mooring for those who wish to bring or rent a motorboat or sailboat, guests can find a whole host of outdoor activities without ever leaving the back yard.

Located very close to the Adirondack Mountains, enjoy hiking in the summer and outstanding skiing on Whiteface Mountain in the winter. The Fall also provides for breathtaking leaf turning color!

So much history in the area, with museums featuring the Revolutionary War and War of 1812. The portion of the lake off our back yard was the site of the Battle of Valcour of the Revolutionary War! Attractions nearby include Ausable Chasm with rafting (even white water), tours, and even rock climbing. The area has a winery tour and a current explosion of craft breweries to visit. We have a connection with The Valcour Brewing Company located in The Old Stone Barracks on the old Plattsburgh Air Force Base.

For those planning a wedding in the area, we are located right next door to the Valcour Conference Center which hosts year round weddings and receptions. Our home is a short walk to this venue and perfect for housing out of town wedding guests.

Beautiful house
There were 9 of us and we had plenty of room. Tim was easy to reach and was a great host. The kids loved the kayaks and all the games. The beds were very comfortable and we loved all the outdoor seating. We spent most of our time on our boat and exploring Valcour island.

Beautiful view, lovely home, close to road.
The house was large and very nicely decorated. Kids enjoyed the ping pong in the basement. The views from the backyard were beautiful. The owners were very responsive and helpful both before, during, and after our stay. I gave only 4 stars because we are light sleepers, and house is situated close to a busy highway and a train also passed through the area several times a night. Also, if you are considering bringing a dog, we found out that the shore is lined with burr plants that became tangled easily in our doodles coat and we could not have them at the waters edge. It was October so not sure if they are there in the summer months as well. The private waterfront access would be very nice in the summer!

Second stay just as great as the first
This was our second summer staying for a week at Oyster Haven. Our multi generation group enjoyed every aspect of the property. The outside space can’t be beat - from the expansive back yard to the private beach area with use of kayaks and a canoe. We all love this property!

Family Lake Getaway
We have stayed on Lake Champlain before, but this property was even better. The house was very spacious, very clean, and very homey. We came with another family with 6 kids (11-17yrs) between us. We enjoyed the tubes, boogie boards, kayaking, canoeing, and SUPs. Great outdoor spaces. It’s the perfect place for a family lake vacation. We hope to rent this property again! Thank you!

Perfect in Every Way
We loved our stay at Oyster Haven. The house was comfortable, spacious, and accommodated four couples nicely. There were so many places to gather to eat, hang out, and play games, and the lake view was absolutely stunning. Groceries and supplies were close by in Plattsburgh, and there was so much to see and do within a short drive. We recommend this home to anyone looking for a relaxing lakefront getaway. Great stay, our visit was a fishing trip for our grandson's graduation. One of his fishing goals was to catch a pike. He accomplished that goal during our stay at Oyster Haven. It’s hard to describe how excited he was. We had a great time .

Amazing home for an annual family trip
I cannot say enough good things about this property and it’s host! The pictures do not do it justice, the house is big and spacious and homey. It included everything we needed. The fire pit, yard, and lake were literal perfection. We kayaked, paddle boarded and just enjoyed our time being outdoors. My 8 year old particularly loved the kids room off the kitchen and the ping pong!! We ventured out to Ausable Chasm and a few breweries in the area but we all just wanted to enjoy the house and the perfect weather we had. We had to reach out to the hosts and Tim was kind, responded quickly and such a nice gentleman. If your on the fence about this house, don’t be. It’s perfect!

Great Lake front
My family and I had a great time at this lake house. Overall was a great place accommodating all of us (kids and adults). We made use of the kayaks and other items on the outside shed, kids and adults we all had fund using them and being on the water. The water was still too cold for some of us but that did not stop us from being on it. The only suggestion would be to update the stove, its workable but it could be upgraded to meet the needs of those of us who enjoy cooking variety.

Beautiful Lakefront Home
This is a beautiful home and property on Lake Champlain. The house has been updated and decorated to perfection. The pictures are great but it is so much nicer in person. We loved the kitchen and the gathering area with a large table we could all sit around for game nights. The deck and firepit patio are amazing! Close to the house, great lighting for after dark, a large firepit and very comfortable seating. Loved the wicker seating set!! The water front area is sandy and the kids had fun playing in the sand. The water was very warm and it was really nice having it stay shallow for quite a ways out. The kids could play, swim, kayak and paddle board without us needing to worry about them being in deep, over their head water. It made it very enjoyable. Tim was great about answering messages both before and while we were there and was very responsive when we had a small issue that needed to be fixed. We had a great time and greatly enjoyed our stayed there. Highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in that area.

Fabulous Lake House in a Beautiful Part of NY State
Our vacation expectations were absolutely exceeded with this rental. Oyster Haven is a beautiful old farm house sitting right on Lake Champlain. It feels very secluded and it was easy to forget we were just a few miles from Plattsburgh and not in a remote area. The house has a ton of character yet has all of the modern updates one would hope for in a vacation home. The kitchen/dining area is where we spent almost all of our time when we weren't outside or boating on the lake. The house is large enough that you can 'get away' from each other to read or relax without feeling like you are apart from the action. We brought a croquet set and had epic games on the giant lawn overlooking the lake (croquet in our family is more of a blood sport!). We kayaked, canoed and also rented a pontoon boat from the marina down the road. We were able to dock the boat on the dock itself but also had the ability to using their mooring buoy if we needed it due to bad weather. The house has more than 200 feet of lake front beach and there are fewer rocks on the shore now as my 3 year old granddaughter spent her time trying to fill the lake up with them! Tim and Laura (the owners) were extremely helpful and very responsive to our questions. Make sure you check out the pictures in the kitchen and see if you can figure out how many kids and grandkids they have - truly blessed family. If you wonder how much we all loved it we have already reserved it for two weeks next summer! FIVE STARS only because I can't give more!

Wonderful week
Our group of 9 had an incredible week at this property. The outdoor space, from the deck and patio to the beach and lake, can’t be beat. We started our days with breakfast overlooking the water and often ended our days by sitting around the fire pit. We fished, swam, kayaked, built sandcastles, floated and relaxed. The house itself was spacious and offered opportunities for us all to be together as well as space for privacy. Already we have begun to think about returning next summer.

Perfect lake vacation
Our group of 10 had an outstanding time. We stayed for a week and hiked a mountain, visited Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain, and spent a ton of time on the water. Highly recommend Adirondacks Boat Rental for a day out on a pontoon boat. The lake was amazing and the house had everything you need for a great time (including 4 kayaks, a canoe, and two paddle boards). Kitchen was well appointed, beds were comfy, and there was plenty of room for our entire group. Tim was quick to respond to any questions even before we checked in. Highly recommend!!!

We highly recommend this place for anybody who likes to enjoy nature. The owners were very thoughtful and have everything you may want to relax in this house from kitchen utensils, TV, comfortable beds, spacious rooms, toys for kids, ping pong table, barbecue area, fire pit with such comfy furniture around d it that you want to stay there all night. Lost for words! This property went above and beyond from what I had imagined. Such a beautiful house with an AMAZING view of the lake! Everything was set up with nothing but perfection!
