Situated in the village of Balnaguard six miles form Aberfeldy and Pitlochry and jut over an hours drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow, the cottage offers spacious accommodation over two floors. Built over 150 years ago and totally renovated 17 years ago the cottage now offers a comfortable,modernised home from home for up to 6 guests with all amenities to ensure a comfortable and peaceful home from home.
On the ground floor is a large farmhouse style kitchen the heart of the cottage with large American style fridge/freezer, large kitchen table seating p to 8+, dishwasher, electric ovens and gas hob. The utility/boot room is off the kitchen with washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities. Wet outdoor clothing and footwear will dry overnight thanks to the underfloor heating and we advise to remove shoes and boots here to protect the wooden floors and carpets.
From the kitchen you enter the original part of the cottage where there is a cosy hub with wood burning stove, SMART TV, two couches and a great place for the chldren and adults alike to hang out and play board games. A handy separate toilet and the en-suite bedroom with king sized bed and bathroom. (bath with electric shower over) are also on this floor.
Stairs lead you to the upper floor where there is the twin bedded room, super king sized bedroom, a large walk in shower with toilet and a stunning upstairs lounge with balcony off. Large comfy sofas, SMART TV,Sonas speaker and beautiful views of the garden, hills and mountains making this the place to relax after a days sightseeing.
With underfloor heating throughout the ground floor and full gas central heating upstairs, the cottage is available all year round.
Bed linen, towels, electricity, gas and logs are included in the price and for the little ones we have a travel cot, high chair and portable stair gates.
Leading from the kitchen through sliding patio doors is the secluded garden with garden furniture, off street parking for up to 4 cars and a locked shed for bicycles. Double gates make the garden a safe haven for children.
Within walking distance of the cottage is Ballintaggart Farm where you can enjoy lazy Sunday lunches, feast nights and a cook school (booking is advisable through their website). They also own the Grandtully Hotel a short drive away in the village of Grandtully, a lively bistro with both inside and outside eating and here you will also find the Inn on the Tay, the Highland Chocolatier and lovely coffee shop serving light meals.
Pitlochry,Aberfeldy and Dunkeld have many eating establishments and coffee shops and Pitlochry also has a vibrant theatre, a salmon leap where you can view salmon coming back to the river of their origin.
Fishing permits can be obtained for local rivers and lochs, golf courses welcome visitors, water rafting on the river Tay and Tummel is not for the faint hearted but lots of fun especially for the young ones!
