We had a wonderful time at Catalonia Playa Maroma. This was the second time we have stayed at this resort. The restaurants are very. Lean and had a nice variety of food. The dishes at El Pajarito restaurant are excellent. Lots of wonderful meals, fruits and desserts. The attention of the wait staff is excellent, especially Alberto, Angel and Jose. The beach is very nice and it has many, many beach beds. There are activities like beach yoga daily and some days beach volleyball. The swimming pool has clean water at a very nice temperature. I like that when I enter the pool, it is like a ramp to slowly enter the water. The bar at the pool is very nice. The bartenders Robin, Adriana, Cristian and Victor made us feel really happy with the nice drinks they prepared. They are very knowledgeable, especially Robin, and very kind. The restaurants for dinner are top quality and service. We loved the steakhouse with excellent meal choices. The Japanese restaurant was wonderful too. Our waiter Theodoro, treated us very well and very promptly. We loved the octopus at the Spanish restaurant. The lasagna and the Milanezza at the Italian restaurant and the delicious tacos at Adelitas. The animation team was superb. They greeted me, learned my name and made me feel at home. Especially Romario, Marlon, Estefany (happy birthday) and Fernanda. They are wonderful to host the aqua gym, zumba. We met several guests and became friends with them. It was very nice We will be back next year.

It was just ok. The best part was all of the animals around the resort. With the heat, the pool was way too warm. Room service is very lacking. They were often late, and when they did come, the food was ice cold. Also no way to get smaller pesos for tipping. It was a beautiful resort though, and everyone was so kind. AC in this place is not very good. 27 C in my room. My daughters was a little better. Overall good experience, but wouldn’t stay again.

Catalonia Playa Maroma was a very unique experience compared to other hotels as it is basically situated in a jungle. This was personally a good thing as we enjoy being around nature and seeing the wild life. Our stay had many positive and a few negative situations. Positive: The staff was amazing! I would name people here as a shout out but the list will get very long. Everyone was friendly, communicable, and always eager to serve. The ambience of the hotel was amazing. The jungle vibe instilled peace and tranquillity. You would see the coatis constantly crossing your path and from time to time you would see monkeys. The hotel was not packed with many people. The food in the buffet was good with a nice variety for selection. Adelita was good for a quick meal as no reservation was usually needed. The food truck burgers were tasty. Breakfast at Beloved restaurant was good. The hotel overall was well kept, especially the beach as staff members would clean the sargassum every morning. The beach water was always turquoise, with little waves, and surprising warm. Negative: Very weak central air conditioning in building 2 with a smell of humidity within the rooms. After being relocated to another room and multiple visits by staff members were made to come and fix the air conditioner, we were told that this building is running on an outdated air conditioning system. All the drinks were watered down. You are better off doing shots *Caution: The coatis WILL steal your food!

I visited this hotel for the first time in 2021 and had a pleasant experience. The hotel was clean, and the staff was helpful, which encouraged me to return this year. However, my recent visit was an absolute nightmare. The hotel was filthy, the staff was incredibly rude and unhelpful, and the food made four members of my family sick. To make matters worse, there were countless issues with dinner reservations. Their website was down, preventing me from reserving a birthday dinner for my daughter, which was the entire reason for our trip. I am beyond furious and deeply disappointed. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel and will never be back.

My husband and I went to Catalonia Playa Maroma for our delayed honeymoon (got married during the pandemic and this is the first chance we got to travel), and we were impressed by how much there was to do. We never left the resort as we spent our days by the pool, on the beach, eating, and partaking in the various activities offered by the staff. The first impression of the resort was that it was very overwhelming. There’s a lot of places and a lot of land you can travel, and the first arriving can make someone anxious. Our room was nice (we got premium), however there were stains on the bedding/pillows, hair in the bathroom, and I wasn’t too happy with that. However, as the week went on our housekeeper stepped up their game and our room got cleaner as the days went by. We were satisfied with the amount of dining options there were, and we loved the buffet! The drink options were numerous and anything you wished for, they would make for you. All of the staff was incredible and patient, and overall it was a fantastic experience once we got the hang of the resort life. We would absolutely come back again, and maybe try a Privileged room.

In general I like this resort, I like the beach and the pool also the staff is very friendly, but the food is terrible, really bad, from the bars to the hamburgers to the fancy restaurants, the food is bad… l have already received this resort and l have been here 3 times and the food still terrible, this place needs a REAL chef to come and advise the restaurants because they are clueless on what is Japanese food or spanish food or italian or even how to cook a steak… when this place fix the food issue then this place will be very good because the grounds are beautiful and they have great staff

Literally this was the perfect trip ever I have recommend it. Every worker was so nice and greeted u always. The place was exceptionally clean and they had different events everyday!! I love this place and definitely would come here again.!!

The room was very clean. The property was also well maintained. The only issue we had was the coati. They are everywhere ! We didn’t care if they walked around what we didn’t like is they would grab food right out of your hand if you weren’t paying attention ! Or sit on the table while you would be eating and try to grab your food! Speaking of food. The food was not very good ! The buffet was terrible and the Mexican restaurant was not good! The Grill was the best! I must say the staff was very helpful and accommodating As a whole this is a very clean resort. The beach is beautiful and the pool area is very nice. They keep the property very clean!
