*Do not book all inclusive through Expedia!* I selected the all inclusive option when booking in October 2023. We arrived at the hotel on April 15, 2024 and they said we were not on this package, but I had paid extra for it. We spent half of the first day on the phone with Expedia customer service and they ended up reimbursing us the cost to “upgrade” to the all inclusive, but so stressful and such a waste of holiday time. The resort told us we were not the first to go through this scenario, and I saw another Expedia comment about this too. That being said, this resort was stunning and absolutely worth going to. But definitely do it as all inclusive otherwise it’d be quite pricey if you’re planning on spending most of your time at the resort. When I was planning a trip I knew I didn’t want to stay in any sort of commercial hotel, so the casitas were perfect. They were private enough to enjoy spending time on the balcony in the hammock while still being close and accessible to the available amenities. There was always chairs available at 1 of the 3 pools and it was just beautiful everywhere on the grounds. 5th Ave was a couple minutes walk away which we ended up going for walks every night for something to do. I’d absolutely stay there again in a heartbeat...just be cautious of that all inclusive option while booking!

Great lil spot
This was our second stay. It’s a lovely resort and you will enjoy your stay. If I could give some suggestions to the resort- I would recommend better shower heads with more water flow, cozier higher quality mattress and bed pillows. Also, it’d be great if lunch could be served at the pool starting at 11, rather than 12. The spa is lovely, but my therapist was not good. Very overpriced for the lack of trained professionals. Great servers and staff throughout and a nice stay for a week.

We absolutely loved this beautiful place! We stayed in a bungalow right off the beach and it was just gorgeous and comfortable! It was a super romantic spot for us to enjoy our 9th wedding anniversary. The hammocks and private pool were a fun addition. Didn’t care for it to be right by the public beach area, but it gave us some people watching entertainment! There was also round the clock security so we felt very safe. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Even though we secluded ourselves from the crowds on our beach chairs by our place, a waiter came by regularly to bring us drinks and snacks. The food was delicious and the drinks were top notch. I have already highly recommended this quaint little place to several of our friends and family. We are definitely going to be back again! We travel ALOT and it’s definitely on our top favorite destinations!

The Mahekal Resort is absolutely wonderful. We only had one night there but we immediately wanted to stay a week. Beautiful grounds, helpful staff, great assortment of amenities and restaurants. The room was lovely and bed and pillows very comfortable. So many activities and amenities, and the beach and pools wonderful.

They nickle and dime you. Even though the reservation says dinner is included, it is only included to a certain dollar amount. Anything over that, they charge you. For the amount of money I paid per night for this property I could have stayed in a very nice all-inclusive where EVERYTHING is included.

The property is more relaxed and quiet. Which is great for taking it easy and not a big party going on all the time. The Staff are wonderful and very helpful.

I came here for my honeymoon and it was the best spot we could have ever picked. The staff was welcoming and polite. Highly recommend!

Mahekal resort & spa was excellent choice for our 25th anniversary trip. It is very private feel onsite yet perfect distance to down town (a minute walking to restaurants and shops) All the staff were very helpful and respectful. Only thing I wish for the resort was more on site parking space. Since I didn't request a parking when I made a reservation, we had to park on street for 5 days and finding coins for machine was not easy. I wished I was notified when I made a reservation. Other than that, it was very pleasant and we'd love to go back again!

Most stunning property. This is not your huge all-inclusive resort…rooms are spacious and clean, grounds are impeccable, food great. It is so close to the city to walk around and explore tons of food options. Loud on Saturday night with all the parties; in case someone’s sensitive. Check out is at 12pm and if you have the all-inclusive package that ends as soon as you check out- you can enjoy the property until your flight, but will have to pay for everything. Cannot wait to be back
