Pontoon is a tranquil destination where Lough Conn and Lough Cullen meet. Lakehouse apartment is on the shore of Lough Conn, with stunning views over the lake and islands with majestic Nephin Mountain in the background. Set on our secluded property you will be able to relax , walk our beach , explore the woods & garden , swim in the lake , soak in the hot tub, try your hand at fishing or feed our friendly donkeys . A perfect base to explore the west of Ireland, the Wild Atlantic Way , with Ballina , Castlebar & Foxford nearby

The Lakehouse Apartment has been refurbished in June 2023. The main house is divided into 2 self contained spaces independent of each other with separate entrance and driveway and free off road parking. You have access to private beach, more than 5 acres of private woodland, garden, outdoor seating and BBQ area. The hot tub is exclusively yours in the panoramic lakeside terrace. The area is perfect for relaxation and outdoor dining. Your personal Infra Red Sauna is located in the master bathroom . The kitchen has a large fridge /freezer, coffee machine and all mod cons. New deluxe beds, good Wi-Fi and Tv in each bedroom .This beautiful ground floor holiday apartment is on a semi-detached premises that has stairs to access the entrance from the parking area.

Just footsteps from the water & beach it is ideal for families who like to bring their own kayak, paddleboard, do some lake fishing or just pack a picnic. A row boat is available to rent from May to September. Swim from the jetty or the beach , we supply beach towels just remember to pack beach shoes. This is a dream place for anyone how appreciates nature .

The house is a childrens haven to play and explore. It is gated and safe and secure from the road. They can play on the swing set or pat and feed our friendly donkeys , they always love a good chat and a tasty carrot treat .

We have our own private jetty , boat hire from a local supplier is available locally . (SUP) stand up paddle board instructor can be arranged to come on site for private lessons at the jetty and they supply boards and wetsuits.

If you are relaxed and enjoying the lake and need a grocery delivery, local online home shop delivery from Tesco and Super Value in Castlebar are available to deliver to the Apartment .

For larger families of up to 11 , the Lakehouse Apartment and neighboring sister property the Waterfront Cabin can be booked together.

We are very centrally located in the County for touring with lots to do. Achill or Belmullet are with an hours drive for day trips and Westport is 30 minutes drive.
Knock Airport is 30 minutes drive , Dublin Airport is 2.5 hours drive and Shannon Airport a 2 hours drive .
Galway City 1.5 hours drive and you drive to Sligo in 50 minutes .

The location and the property were both superb... Mary the owner ought to be cloned for every B&B. She was THE BEST....loved our interactions with her. This is a place to be highly recommended and it comes with resident donkeys. One could not ask for more. Warmer and sunnier, maybe. But hey, it's Ireland! We did have some sun!

The property was amazing and the view is so incredibly beautiful. Rain or shine, it doesn't matter when you are staying at this beautiful property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we even got to feed the donkeys!

Beautiful lakeside stay
We had a great time staying in the lakehouse. We were looking for somewhere we could bring our kayaks and have direct access to the lake/lough and this was the perfect location. The house is very nice and we enjoyed the sauna and hot tub. We also liked having access to the beach area and the presence of the donkeys was a bonus too. Mary is a lovely host and we couldn't have asked for more.

Couldn’t have been better.
Our family of 4 spent 6 nights at this lovely place and had a great time. Good location - we were able to explore the area (Balleek Forest, Westport, WAW coast) but you would need a car. The house way wonderful - lots of space and super comfy beds. My kids didn’t want to leave - swing sets, hot tub, beach, and donkeys - what more could they ask for.

A hidden gem
We arrived in Pontoon at our apartment overlooking the lake in a rain and wind storm . The forecast was bleak and as we had young children with us were worried that our two week stay would be marred by weather. We needn’t have worried however as the property had everything we needed to enjoy a family gathering in the most beautiful location right on Lake Conn . The weather broke enough for us to be able to swim off the Dock almost daily and the younger children enjoyed swimming and playing on the private beach which was only steps away .. It also proved to be an ideal location from which to take day time fishing trips and excursions to other areas such as Achill and having golfers in the group who played locally in Ballina and also the incredible course at Enniscrone . Mary is a delightful host and was never too busy to answer any questions we had and her recommendations were really helpful. The donkeys w are permanent residents on the land and part of the family ! The children were smitten. They were also smitten by the hot tub and the sauna which were a welcome treat after a bracing swim in the lake . The apartment which feels more like a house, was very comfortable and suited our needs perfectly . The views and sunsets can be seen from the large lake facing windows of the living room and while the weather didn’t exactly permit alfresco dining , we were still able to enjoy looking the lake while eating inside. Ten out of Ten for a family holiday ..

Great family holiday at Pontoon
We stayed with Mary at Pontoon for 7 nights. Family of 5 with 3 young kids. The kids loved feeding the friendly donkeys every day and playing on the beach. We went paddle boarding and also rented a rowing boat to explore the lake and islands. Mary was very welcoming and attended to our every need. I would highly recommend Pontoon for any family with young kids looking for a safe environment with loads to keep the kids happy. It's also a great base to explore the rest of Mayo, a beautiful part of the country.
