This unique 1930's character home was constructed along side the historic uptown waterway of Dry Creek Park, a sweet example of the rainforest found throughout Pacific Rim National Park. When you're traveling in a small group, the Nurturing Nest has what you need to make this upcoming trip one of the best.
The space
Over the century, the unique character of this property has tastefully evolved to encompass the best of both worlds; secluded homestead living in the grand rainforest of the Pacific North West, with the convenient access to the urban waterfront amenities and historic landmarks.
When you're traveling with a small group, this 3 bed 2 bathroom rental option here at the Nurturing Nest can comfortably sleep up to 6 adults under one roof.
If your group has any individuals with mobility needs, the Garden View Suite would be be the most appropriate option as it is on the main floor of the house.
The master suite has a bedside view of the garden, queen size bed, high vaulted ceilings, walk-in-closet with ample shelving space, two bath robes, and convenient kitchenette with fridge, electric kettle, coffee, and tea.
There is a full bathroom on the main floor that will be shared with the Nurturing Nest Host that lives in the basement full-time and manages the property.
On the top floor of the house is the SunRise Room. A memorable feature unique to this room is the hand crafted fir & cedar live edge queen bed that truly compliments the charming contours of this upstairs dwelling. Outfitted with adjustable reading lights and floating side tables. Enjoy full access to shelved closet space, house robe, reading chair, books, and the very special sunrise through the green canopy of the forest.
On the top floor is the third room of the house called the SunSet Room. This special area is coveted for the bright view of the sunset over the forest, inlet, & mountains. Perfect for the dynamic duo who doesn't mind taking the stairs, appreciates the unique quirks of 1930's architecture, deep baths, and textile art. Up here, the powerful breeze coming up off the inlet keeps the room renewed and comfortable while making use of the bright private workspace.
Upstairs is the second full bathroom in the house, with the large deep soaker tub.
Guest access
Enjoy the ample parking in front of the house along the street please keep the driveway clear.
There is ample seating inside and outside, please use coasters and placemats on the wood tables as we made them by hand with love.
If you would like to use the small bbq or propane fireplace, please let me know so we can review the fire safety protocol.
Please only smoke outside in the yard and only dispose of the your cigarette in the ash trays, NOT in the garden or in the grass. Be conscious of the extreme fire hazard throughout the spring & summer.
All guests are welcome to choose a book from the wide selection shelved in the small library and lay back in hammock, or various other lounging areas throughout the property. Please ensure the book is returned at the end of your stay. In this area you will also find board games and my well loved acoustic guitar.
Light use of the kitchen is encouraged, please use the designated guest shelf in the cupboard and fridge area to store your food items. Please refrain from using any of the food items that are not in the communal spice shelf as they are not included in the rental.
There is coffee and tea available for morning use.
Please turn the hood fan on above the stove when cooking.
There is a well seasoned cast iron pan stored in the oven, please use the metal scrub pad at the sink when cleaning it with hot water and re-season it with the olive oil in the communal spice cupboard.
Guest are expected to use the appropriate green bin, recycling bin, and garbage throughout their stay.
The Host of the Nurturing Nest lives on the property full time in the lower level of the house. Please do not enter that space as it is not included in the rental. Please text/message in the event of emergencies.
The main floor bathroom is shared with the host of the property. Please wipe down the shower and sink after each use, and always ensure the fan is on when showering to reduce humidity and potential for mould to develop.
Other things to note
A note for those with mobility needs. The top level of the house where the soaker bath, SunRise and SunSet rooms are located may be difficult to access, so be mindful of your specific abilities.
Sorry folks, we don’t have the infrastructure to safely house unregistered guests, any pets, or children under 12. This is a sober home, please enjoy this rental responsibly. Use the designated outside smoking areas and ashtrays provided.
The BBQ & fireplace is available until 23:30 daily.
