About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire cabin to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

Potomac Cabin: Riverfront, 7 acres, sleeps 14, hot tub, Starlink

The Potomac Cabin is located directly on the South Branch of the Potomac River boasting full water access for fishing, rafting, swimming and more! Situated on 7 acres of prime WV mountain land, this 5-BR, 3-BA cabin can comfortably sleep 14 people and is perfect for hosting your weekend or more getaway. Come explore the beautiful eastern panhandle of WV with this one of a kind, yet affordable mountain retreat!

IMPORTANT - This is a remotely located cabin but should have everything you need for a relaxing or adventurous stay. We, the owners, built this cabin ourselves and take great pride in it - but this is not however the Ritz Carlton so please do not have the expectation that you won't find a speck of dirt or an occasional lady bug or two in the house. We are in the mountains, not in a town and the setting is rustic, but rest assured we have cleaning crews that service the house in between each guest.

We have a wood burning stove that provides a great amount of heat during the winter and we also have an AC that provides a cool house in the summer. Each bedroom has its own individual Heat/AC unit. Wifi is now high speed so a full internet experience is available (video calls, HD streaming, etc) but premium app services are at the expense of the renter. There are hundreds of DVDs available at the cabin. That said, most do not come here for the technology. But on rainy days we also have several boxes of kids toys and board games. We just ask that you put them away neatly when done. A shed is located at the bottom of the property with water equipment available to all renters who fill out a liability waiver. Just inquire after booking if you plan on doing any river trips so we can assist.

A full welcome guide with area information will be provided after booking.

Pet fee: $30 per pet, per stay

CONTRACTUAL ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILTY
RELATING TO COVID-19

The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact, as well as through surface contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people.

The owner can not guarantee that a tenant, his or her family and/or guests will not become infected with COVID-19 while using the leased rental property. Tenant acknowledges that Lessor and Association’s respective liability insurance may not provide coverage for contraction of an infectious disease. Tenant also acknowledges the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assumes the risk that Tenant and any member of his or her party or Tenant’s guests may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 while using the leased property, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and even death.
Tenant agrees to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any COVID-19-related injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind that Tenant, members Tenant’s party or Tenant’s guests, may experience or incur in connection with use of the rented property.

Tenant hereby releases and covenants not to sue, discharges, and agrees to defend (through legal counsel selected by the indemnified party) and hold harmless Lessor and the Association of and from all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind, which arise out of or relate to to the contraction of COVID-19 by Tenant, members of Tenant’s rental party or Tenant’s guests. Tenant understands and agrees that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of Lessor, any of their respective employees, agents and representatives.
Tenant acknowledges that his or her contractual assumption of the risk as set forth above, for himself/herself and on behalf of all of his or her family members, party members and guests who use the leased rental, is a specific condition precedent to (i) Lessor agreeing to lease this vacation rental property to Tenant, and Tenant acknowledges this is a specifically negotiated term and that the monetary amount of the lease and the status of the recreational amenities as being open for Tenant’s use are based upon the inclusion of this term.

We all loved it! The trails are fun, and down at the river we had a ball! The beds were comfy. Fun at the Pool Table. The downstairs was great! The Hot Tub was a hit. Loved the whole place! Could use a couple extra outlets in the kitchen. The bathroom in the loft needs a light .

Beautiful and Spacious
The house is perfect for a large group and the property down by the river is a short walk and worth the trip (you can drive down too for the disabled). Some of the bedrooms could use a dresser or hanging space for clothes, but wasn’t a big deal. The only thing that threw me off a little was this weird kind of pay it forward with food. We counted at least 4 jars of peanut butter (all opened) and 3 boxes of pancake mix. It made it hard to make room for all the food we had brought in since there are no real grocery stores nearby. Overall it’s a lovely place and I would say it’s worth a trip!

good place for rafting
Stayed at the property thursday to sunday. The property is ON the water. The back country road it is on bisects the property. Top half is the cabin and bottom half is right on the Potomac. It is quiet, only a few cars that live there go down the road. It is well separated from neighbors. I have no real complaints, but I would say the fit and finish on the interior carpentry is not the greatest, but it is a fine house and provided us with everything we needed with no trouble. I would stay here again if it is available. They included kayaks which was GREAT! The rickety bridge from MD ro WV is fun but I would not plan to go over it in high water conditions. You can always come in from the WV side with a bit more driving if you want to avoid it. Cumberland is 20 min away, and we went there saturday to buy supplies. I hear there is good fishing too. Good bicycling around the local area.

Had a great time at this cabin, which was huge! Tons of room for everyone. We spent most of our time on the back deck. Everyone enjoyed this place. If you stay here, check out the overlook bench behind the house...up the hill. Great views up there!

Great Spot for a Getaway
We stayed at the cabin with a group of 9 guys to celebrate my brother's 30th birthday. We loved everything about the cabin. It was VERY clean and beautiful. We loved the wood burning stove, the hot tub, dart board and pool table... And the location is stunning. Views from the porch are beautiful, and the cabin sits on the side of a hill with a short trail to the top of the hill where the views are even better! 5 stars all the way, would definitely recommend.

Thanksgiving Getaway
My family and I decided to book this place and have Thanksgiving dinner at this beautiful cabin. It did not disappoint. The cabin was very clean. All of the wood is so beautiful and the decor is perfect. The location is amazing. From the trails, the views, and the river access, we did not have enough time to enjoy everything! There’s nothing like getting in hot tub on the side of a mountain! My son loved the swing down by the river. And we really enjoyed the game room downstairs too. Can’t wait to come back for a longer trip!

Great Experience
Our family or 13 thoroughly enjoyed the cabin for a long weekend (Friday-Monday), The cabin itself was very inviting and spacious with lots to do. Everyone enjoyed the pool table, darts, arcade game and hot tub. We took walks to the lookout and the river everyday that's just outside the back door. At the river our adult children loved the added swing which gave us lots of laughs. We saw lots of cows in the river but left when we showed up. The views from the lookout were amazing. There were a few downsides but that's to be expected, the grill was unusable and we had to rethink a couple of meals as we like to cook on the grill but all turned out great. We could not regulate the temperature in the house but was not a big issue. There was lots of firewood for the Wood stove which we loved. We also made s'mores in the fire pit which was a hit. Thanks for opening your cabin for our family to enjoy

Love the house!
We had a great time. House was big enough for 8 adults with no problems. We loved the seclusion and quietness. Some upgrades need done (i.e., dressers in bedrooms for clothing, lamps, kitchen pots). Plenty of firewood for inside and outside fireplaces, downstairs was used alot. Too cold for any water excursions. Thank you for letting our family use your house!!

Discrimination inaccurately describes cabin
Although we had a great time in the hot tub and down at the river, the discrimination of the cabin is inaccurate. The house was nice, location was great, with good amenities. Unfortunately we spent a lot of time on the first day cleaning whag should of already been clean. The dishes still bad food on them, and the toilet and showers had mold around them(I would recommend bringing some shower shoes). We were expecting a lady but or two but we were not expecting a face full of gnats everytime we turned the water on as well as a couple cockroaches. We were also disappointed in the fact there were multiple light bulbs out, outlets didn’t work, and there were no deadbolts on the doors like the description said their would be. The grill as well needed some cleaning. The cabin overall needed some TLC.

Last week of august hot No AC in kitchen main house or club room Only units in bedrooms Apparently air has been out for over a month ?!? I just didn’t expect to be uncomfortable during my stay for the nightly rate Owner only refunded 1 night - should have had more of a discount No love or care seems to be taken for this property Pictures must have been from when cabin was first opened Lopsided pop table with stains all over it The game room floor was popping up from a flood we were told happened and smelled like mildew Bath mats look like they could be washed - wait throw those poor things away The best thing was the Potomac river Worst cabin we where rented over the past 10 years Renter beware - better ones out there

If you are looking to disconnect, this is your place. If you want to be in the beautiful woods of WV, this is your place. It is a great place to go and be with the family or friends and re-energize yourself. We were there in the summer and it is a great season and time time to be in WV, but I have to imagine that each season offers something special. It provides a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with friends and/or family. You will enjoy.

Unique spot
Spacious, clean, well appointed home situated on a unique piece of property. Walking up to the lookout and down to the river was an adventure each time. Highlight of our trip was the 2 hour float down the river to the boat ramp. The water at the house was too rough for swimming, but we had a great time swimming, fishing (caught nothing), skipping rocks, and watching thousands of tadpoles at the very nearby calm water access point. Loved the frogs that hopped all around at night. Everyone enjoyed the darts, poker table, pool table, and arcade game downstairs. Kitchen was well stocked and we saw NO stinkbugs! I don't know that I would have felt comfortable having very small kids climbing up and down the outside paths, but it was perfect for my 15, 13 & 10 year olds.

Overall good, but was underwhelming
I've been trying to decide how I really feel about our stay. The cabin was clean, spacious, and had the basics. But...things were just unfinished and/or just not practical. Two of the three toilets were not even screwed/mounted to the floor. You wobbled whenever you sat down. Light switches were in completely inconvenient places (think behind doors in the rooms), so you had to walk into a dark room and fumble around to locate them. There was only one outlet in the kitchen, and the oven shut off if the temperature was set over 400°. I'm not picky about linens matching and whatnot, because nothing matched or seemed newer, but every bed was covered with that plastic mattress covering and the sheets and pillowcases were too big and didn't fit well. Not to mention, we had to make the beds when we got there. I was kind of hoping for a bit more of a welcoming atmosphere. It seems like this is something of a family home when it is not being rented, because cupboards and vanities had used personal items (toothpaste, deodorant, used soap, shampoo, etc.) and the kitchen had junk drawers and cupboards with half used pantry items. I felt like we were invading someone's personal space. I wish there would have been better instructions on the electronics, as the tv's were difficult to figure out. Roku is great, but it seems only one of the 4 sets in the cabin had the Roku plug. DVD players and game systems didn't work, and the TV on the lower level was burnt out on the left side. Some of the highlights were the poker and pool tables, and we played darts and the arcade console multiple times. The hot tub was OK once the excessive chemicals dissipated. We brought a canopy for it since it is uncovered. The grill would serve better on the deck, instead of by the fire pit, as you had to walk all the way downstairs and through the game room and back when grilling. I think the cabin temperature was difficult to regulate, as there is no central air or heating. I felt like it was either freezing or sweltering. The lighting on the main floor is too dim as well. Again, overall we enjoyed our stay because of the people there, and the basics were provided. In comparison with other cabin rentals we have had, this was underwhelming in terms of feeling like we were getting quality. Hiking was difficult due to the steepness of the terrain, and the water was too high to utilize the canoes or kayaks. And we didn't mind the stink bugs - it's the woods, for gosh sake!

Pure awesomeness
We had an awesome time, we fished, we cooked over the fire pit, sipped bourbon in the hottub, hiked, drove to some beautiful trout streams, tried to fish the Potomac but the rain had it too high and cloudy, visited an amish market, shot some pool, played cards and darts...and my 11 year old son loved the retro mini arcade. Absolutely a great cabin with plenty to do.
