Our family was looking for a secluded retreat that could accommodate our furry family member. We ended up driving over seven hours to get to this place, but we found it well worth the drive. The home was extremely cozy. It was very clear that the owners were out to provide their guests with a pleasant experience. This was accomplished with super comfortable beds, numerous comfy blankets, space heaters in every room, fluffy towels, ample Tim Horton's coffee for the Keurig, and all the kitchen necessities for some home cooking. The property was very thoughtfully landscaped. There was a great fire pit with the requisite Adirondack chairs. Little walking paths down to the super clean river, much-appreciated floodlights, and available canoes and a paddleboard were great touches. We didn't brave the watersports this winter, but we did explore the great hiking trail that we found within a five-minute walk of the house. This trail ended up being part of the Stone Valley Trail, an 8-mile loop with fantastic views of multiple waterfalls. The home was in a terrific location for short drives to take in the beauty of numerous other waterfalls. As you can tell, we really enjoyed our stay. For the sake of being thorough, there are a couple of critiques. The bathroom was on the smaller side with the shower tucked under the stairs. At 6'2", the shower was a struggle. However, considering that the hot water starts to run out after two showers, we weren't in there long anyway. Also, the bathroom would have benefitted from an exhaust fan. Any hot water made everything fog up. However, we made it work and split up our showers over the course of the day. The only other concern would be the lack of a door to the upstairs bedroom. The teenagers staying up there were woken up by the adults downstairs making their Tim Horton coffee. A nice barn door at the bottom of the stairs would be a great addition. However, these are small concerns that barely detracted from a wonderful stay. We would definitely return if the occasion presents itself.
