Perfect for wedding guests,&concert goers. So much to see and do in SE Minnesota! Biking,Fishing,Hiking and Golf. Lanesboro is 6 miles away. Across the street from Branding Iron Supper Club. Feel free to use garage space for bikes as well. Forestville State Park 15 mn away!Perfect for snowmobiling with a heated garage you are welcome to use. I really try to be accommodating, so message me with any last minute reservations and I will see if Ican make it work!

Nice place! Great experience! Wonderful host!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Root River Retreat and would stay here again! Easy check-in and check-out process. The space was clean, cozy and contained everything we needed for a short stay to enjoy golf and biking. Beds and furnishings were very comfortable. Towels and bedding were soft and new. Host was a gem, providing bike storage and parking space. She answered our questions very quickly and provided delicious cookies to enjoy upon our arrival. Safe, quiet neighborhood with easy access to state bike trail and very close to golf courses and local restaurants.

Long Family Weekend
The neighborhood was quiet and great location to visit the many attractions in the area. We went to Lanesboro & Mystery Cave, and this was the perfect middle location. We ate lunch at B&B Bowling and it was great! Highly recommend it.

Driftless Area Motorcycle Visit
This VRBO was a wonderful retreat while we where in the area motorcycling. Our host, Lori, even allowed us to park our motorcycles in the garage to protect them overnight from the weather. We would certainly stay with Lori again.

Biking weekend
We had a very nice stay at the Root River Retreat. The home was clean and welcoming. There was a lot of "extra" things provided like shampoo, soap, oatmeal, coffee and even fresh bananas and cookies! Having the garage for the bikes was very nice. The host, Lori, was easy to communicate with and was helpful. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay again sometime.

Fabulous getaway❤️❤️❤️
This was a fabulous weekend stay! When we walked in the door, Lori left these huge Halloween buckets full of delicious treats for my kids! Then my husband and I were supposed with gourmet cookies!!! We felt so welcomed! The fridge was stocked with water and sparkling water and plenty of coffee to keep us caffeinated all weekend! It Smelled wonderful when we walked In and decor was Pinterest amazing! Plenty of books and magazines and activities listed for us to do for the weekend! There was also kid art supplies and options, it was awesome! We decided on going tandem biking for one afternoon in Lansboro, went to Nightmare acres on Sat night for free (haunted houses at the fairgrounds) and the free drive in haunted movie in Harmony. Ample room for board games and beds were SO comfortable, haven’t slept that well in a long time! My kids both loved it!! They both kept telling me how much they loved it there! Honestly I can’t say enough about this place ❤️ Great communication with Lori, she was amazing to talk to and so helpful and extra kind!!

Fall Getaway
This was our first time visiting the Preston/Lanesboro area and Lori's place was just perfect. The unit was clean and comfortable and tastefully decorated. Some sweet goodies awaited us when we arrived, which was an unexpected but appreciated surprise. It was conveniently located for getting to bike trails in the area. We hope to return again next fall!

Stay at Root River Retreat
A friend and I stayed here to spend some time in this part of the state. Just beautiful area. Staying at the Root River Retreat was just great. Very well furnished from the furniture to the beds to the treats Lori put out. Lori was very responsive to any questions we had. There were so many extras in the place, things you might not think of but they were there when you needed them. The place is very easy to find and located in a good spot for exploring the area. I would definitely stay here again.

We had a great visit to the area for some biking along the Root River trail. The location was good - a short drive from a number of the small towns in the area. Lori was a great host. She provided a wonderful, clean place. The beds were comfortable, she had lots of information about the area, and provided some wonderful treats and basics for our stay.

Cozy Place
We enjoyed our time in Preston and Lansboro. It is a wonderful area for biking on the Root River trail. Lori supplied us with some wonderful cookies and drinks and was good about getting back to us when we had questions. Since it rained we were thankful to have a garage to store our bikes. Good access to trail and B & B was a great restaurant within blocks of where we stayed.

Long weekend family stay
We stayed at this location for a long weekend family trip to the Preston area. Lori was great to communicate with and answered messages quickly. The space was a good size for our small family and easy to locate in the little town. The place was very clean and well accommodated. The mattresses were very comfortable to sleep on! The tv was of great quality and my boys were impressed. We had a nice note to welcome us along with delicious cookies, and a well stocked fridge and brunch area. We enjoyed our trip and this location made it very relaxing place to come back to.

Perfect biking getaway
We came down from Minneapolis to ride the Root River trail. The location in Preston was convenient to the trail head and having a garage to park the bikes was a huge plus! Even though it's a basement it didn't feel like it, there are plenty of windows and it's very spacious. Our host thought of every little detail, from coffee supplies and drinks to shampoo, body wash and plenty of towels. Extremely cozy and comfortable after a long day of riding. The huge TV was great, with multiple streaming options for watching movies etc. There was even popcorn! The beds and pillows were very comfortable as well. There's really nothing we would change, and we would definitely come back.

This was the perfect location for us to enjoy the areas offerings - biking, shopping, parade (in nearby Harmony), etc. We appreciated the simple check-in, welcoming atmosphere (complete with cookies), and clean and beautifully decorated space.
