Summary:
A lovingly restored carriage house originally built in the 1880's, the Mandeville has been designed as a low-carbon vacation option in the heart of Wellington. Powered by 100% solar energy (and ready to charge your ZEV), the Mandeville is a passive house design restored with energy efficiency, sustainability, and circularity in mind. Minutes walk to the beach and the village core. Bring your bike to explore some of the finest wines and tastes the county has to offer.
The Space:
The Mandeville has an open-concept design with 12’ cathedral ceilings, a fully equipped kitchen, a three-piece bathroom, and a separate bedroom with a queen-sized pillowtop bed. Named after the original landowner’s family this one-bedroom suite occupies the whole upper floor of the original post and beam carriage house. It has a separate private entrance and large terrace overlooking the rest of the property. The design maximizes natural light with a wall of windows overlooking the terrace. Inside the space, you will be surrounded by natural materials grounding you for your time in the County. The Mandeville shares the driveway with the current property owners, who occupy the main house with their two young children. As a family residence, the property owners can often be found on-site and ready to provide suggestions for things to do or places to eat, as well as or answer any questions about the accommodations.
The Neighborhood:
Across the street from The Good Place lunch counter and organic grocer - great for morning coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Minutes walk to Wellington Beach (access fee on weekends in summer) and the village core (i.e., Midtown Brewery, East and Main Bistro, La Condesa, Drake Devonshire) grocery, pharmacy and hardware stores as well as other great little shops and galleries. For cyclists, access to the Millenium Trail is just 0.5 kms north on Belleville Rd.
Getting Around:
Bring your bike (or rent one from Ideal Bike in town) and take to the back roads and Millenium Trail to explore some of the County's finest wineries, breweries, shops and galleries. Within a 20 km loop, you can find Closson Chase, Rosehall Run, By Chadsey's Cairns, Karlos Estates, Hinterland, Huff Estates and Oeno Gallery (and outdoor sculpture garden), Carson's Marketplace and Flossie's Sandwiches, the quaint shopping village of Bloomfield, and more.
