Do not stay here
- Horrible location - Rooms are far away from lobby (they will call a cab for you when you check in, but to check out, you have to call a cab on your own or drag your bag 10 minutes to the lobby. - Internet signal depends on your room. I couldn't get any signal in my room, even though they said the signal would be strong. You have to pay to use, btw.

Overall experience was positive. The room was clean and staff was friendly and helpful. I paid more but it was nice to have someone meet me at the airport and guide me through the transportation through Santa Cruz.

Interesting Hotel But Not Worth A Second Stay
Interesting experience. How many times do you stay in a Mangrove swamp? Waiters in the restaurant were inattentive and unresponsive. Sushi was not good. Hotel reception was pleasant; however, getting a partial refund for airport transportation was difficult and at one point the desk clerk got unpleasant. Don't think they ever refunded the WiFi(which didn't work) access fee. Still haven't received a copy of the itemized bill I requested (they promised a copy via email).

Nice hotel but lacking personality
The booking of this hotel was suppose to include free internet connection, however the hotel did not honer this and said Expedia was wrong. I was charged for the service. The staff, including waiters at the hotel were not attentive to their guest and were walking around like robots. The food was okay. The room was located away from the main hotel, there were no phones in the room and the phone that was suppose to be used for emergency or to contact the main hotel did not work. The staff (appeared to be in their 20s) running this hotel did not have a leader to guide them or so it seemed. The plus is the beautiful view from the restaurant and the facility was clean.

Very bad hotel
The rooms is dirty. In the toilet, the flush can not stop, keep leaking water. So much dust on the fan. The air is not only noisy , it turned off by itself midnight. Overall speaking, terrible hotel. There is no staff in the lodge.

Great stay at Puerto Ayora!
Everything was great except for the additional cost to get wifi connection at the resort! Even cheaper hotels at the area provided some sort of wifi connection.

Nice accomodations. Poor service.
The hotel on the waterfront is very nice. We were greeted by sea lions and marine iguanas on the hotel deck. Great feature. We were disappointed that the hotel advertized as if our room were on the waterfront, but then were put up in the Divers Lodge, which is a few blocks away from the water. The hotel staff does not appear to have the phone numbers of a taxi company or individual taxis, so getting a taxi was a difficult endeavor. On our last day, we needed an early morning taxi. The evening staff assured us they would have one for us at the appointed time, but the morning staff knew nothing of it. The morning reception staff sent the guard to get us a taxi. I had to personally remind the guard three times as he was flirting with the reception girl and didn't want to be bothered by our urgent request. With still no taxi in site, my wife and I had to heft our gear all the way to the dock on foot. A big fail for customer service. Also, the hotel offers no bottled water, which is standard for all hotels and restaurants throughout the Galapagos and Ecuador. The restaurant prices were so high we didn't bother to eat at the hotel. I'd say the restaurant offerings and prices are not practical for the area. The reception staff assured us that our rooms were safe, but the maid left the door wide open with her keys in our door and the compound door wide open. Any one could have entered our room from the street or hotel during cleaning time.

Good value for money. Basic but reasonable. Clean, neat and tidy. However there are no staff to be found anywhere. Breakfast is served in the main hotel which is a short walk away.

Comfortable but...
The hotel is 3 blocks away from the principal hotel and you have to walk to take breakfast and to make the check in. If you need anything you have to call for somebody on the other hotel. The food is good and the room is clean but the staff is not to pending on the guests and neither helpful.

I cannot understand previous reviews
The whole point of coming here is the view, the room, restaurant and tours. The room was fine. The place for the view was the restaurant and verandah. The verandah furniture were full of sea lions and the floor full of the biggest piles of excrement you have ever seen. The seals then move through it and climb on the furniture again. We were told that two thirds of the menu was unavailable and we could not get service without going to the kitchen and asking... This over a couple of days.

Hotel did not have our Reservation
Hotel did not have our Hotels.com reservation! They had no idea we were coming. With luck of the low season they had a room available. Took hotels.com till our check out day to confirm payment and the reservation with the hotel. Hotel was good, well located, included free use of bicycles for the duration of stay which is very usfull there. Rooms were basic but clean.

Hotel was clean, well located, simple. The free use of bicycles was very usefull and a benifit of this hotel.

GALAPAGOS TOUR
Nice clean hotel in a quiet neighborhood, but to our surprise we found out that this is actually a branch of main hotel with NO amenities, the main hotel is about 5 minutes walk from this location. On our arrival we had to call main hotel through a phone located on a window sill and was told to come down to main hotel to register and pick up room key. We found this very strange and inconvenient. Also only main hotel has restaurant where you can have breakfast dinner etc,but you may not want to walk there every morning for breakfast. This location is walking distance from main street ,but make sure you remember some of the landmarks since there is no street name posted any where. We were lost on the first night! Also hardly any shop or Travel Agent will accept credit card in Galapagos, everything is in CASH.

Regular WIFI service, but EXCELLENT Room for rest
Well, the main building of the hotel, is excellent...really clean, with one of the best sights from the restaurant, but in the extension of the hotel, which is located 4 blocks aprox from there, has poor neighborhood, no sight...almost nothing around...and the internet service was regular. Also, you should know that Galapagos is for adventures, tours, cycling, diving/snorkelling...etc, and you will go to your bed just for the night...and thats where this extension is awesome, the room is really comfortable to rest.

A solid option
Ok so here is the scoop: it is important to realize that the Divers Lodge is different from the main Red Mangrove hotel. The divers extension is more like an annex - located a few blocks away - and it lacks some of the charm of the main hotel. A few ups and downs from our stay: + Staff were very helpful and speak good english + Location is great for Puerto Ayora - not smack in the middle of the bustle but only a 10 min walk to the center of town - The rooms need updating: we had a few ants, the hot water was sluggish after the first day, and our door lock was very difficult to operate Ultimately, those plusses were more important to us than the minuses, and we would stay again.

Ok but pricey
The hotel is at least 5 blocks from where the staff is so there was no assistance on site for anything. We stayed 3 nights and our room wasn't cleaned once while we were there. When we were leaving we had no place to leave the key and calling to the other hotel we were told that we had to go there to check out, packing all of our luggage with us. There was an office on site but it was never occupied. The area was ok but loud at night and early morning. Many other cheaper options in the same block with staff on site that were very helpful.

Red Mangrove "Extension"
I paid about 100$ a night in the extension which is about 500 meters off the main strip and not on the water. Its adjacent to their dive pool. I didn't know it wasn't the waterfront building but wasn't too concerned as I was planning on being out of the room all day. Tips: 1) Tours: You can book diving on the island for ~120-175$ a day depending on how well you need the shop to be equipped so dont book with anyone selling for more. All the tours have standard rates so before pre purchasing do some research. Red Mangrove tried to sell me expensive tours before I arrived. 2) The Extension Hotel: If you get a deal its worth it. The rooms are clean and the one I was in (#9 Piquena) had two singles and a double plus a great rooftop patio. However the air conditioners and the water pump are on the roof so beware if you're a light sleeper. They cycle all night. 3) The food at the mangrove is expensive.

False advertising
This hotel claims to be on the beach and have a restaurant and bar. In fact, it is several blocks away from the water and has no facilities whatsoever, except a small pool. It's sister hotel, Red Mangrove Aventura Lodge, is the one on the water and this is where you check in but then they take you to the Divers Lodge which is several blocks away.

Unique hotel fantastic staff
FYI We upgraded to a suite over looking the bay. Suite del mar incredible view small room but worth every penny. Our overall stay in the Galápagos Islands far exceed our expectations. I highly recommend a vacation here to anyone. There were many thing to do snorkeling, diving, turtles etc. or bike ride to the marina and watch the fisherman bring in there catch or just sit on the dock with the seals and the eguannas very close and extremely friendly. The people of Santa Cruz island were so nice and friendly they made us feel like royality.
