Room needs cleaning
Room was not clean. Everything literally stuck to the dresser—all areas of dresser top, not just a small area. Box of supplied Kleenex was empty. Bed had ill fitting pad that curled and was lumpy. Lighting is terrible. Facility site is beautiful. Food very average in taste but quite expensive.

Historic hotel
Old hotel so nothing in bathroom except toilet and shower. The king bed took almost the whole room except for a small desk and the sink. You stay here for the ambiance and history. All staff were very nice.

This property is beautiful and historic. Well maintained for how old the building is and they do a great job to preserve the history of the space. The only areas where they could improve would be to provide free wifi (you get a free 30 minute connection per day, beyond that you have to pay) and to provide a mini fridge or even just a larger ice bucket. We visited in July, it was HOT and the small ice bucket provided wasn't sufficient enough to keep our drinks cool. Regarding the wifi, I understand this place is about being present and connecting with nature, but because there's no cell service at the lodge and surrounding areas we really were relying on wifi to get directions/do research to plan our hiking routes and activities. We paid over $800 for a two night stay which is a bit steep in my opinion for the lodge to not provide free wifi for guests. I still definitely recommend staying here, the building is beautiful and the views are insane, I would just suggest temper expectations in regards to amenities.

There was a bit of an error when we first arrived- they had given our room away to another couple, but the young girl at the front desk was very apologetic & though it took a while got us fixed up. The hotel is wonderful, historically old parts to the buildings and rooms but clean. Landscaping and views were exquisite. We ate breakfast & dinner at the restaurant and recommend both highly. Staff everywhere was friendly, polite & helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The property is beautiful. Many nature trails and other outdoor activities. Rooms are very basic. No amenities like A/C, fridge, safe, phone, or high speed internet. This is expected for the experience of a staying in a 100 year old lodge, but when your room is 85 degrees at 10pm, and the resort is out of fans it is miserable. Our coffee machine still had coffee in it from the previous guests, window screens had multiple holes letting in bugs, and overall everything feels a little run down and dated. Food in the area is very limited and on-site dining is very expensive and overpriced for what you are getting, except the in house pizzas which are reasonably priced and delicious. Overall it’s a great setting and location, but for $400 - $500 a night it left us feeling like we overpaid for a kitschy summer camp experience.
