I don't understand the reviews for this place. It's an old motel that was originally built in the 60's or 70's and it's been patched on too many times. The drive way areas the walls are in need of major repair. The bed I slept on was a worn out coil spring unit that has to be one of the worst I've slept on.

They have large dog friendly rooms...we love how campy and friendly this place is, but it covers the basics and it is nostalgic for us. Cold beer at the restaurant isnt bad too!

Amenities are what you expect for price. No issues with room. The free breakfast with option to upgrade is a scam. We were talked into purchase 2 additional complementary breakfasts upon checking in which we did. The option to upgrade your breakfast is an addition $12.99 each plus they charge you again for the coffee or tea that is included with complimentary breakfast. I do not recommend dining here.

A sad review of a once very good place.
Raton is a dying town, several boarded up motels, abandoned gas stations, empty store fronts, this one is left over from when Raton was in its prime with a big rail yard, coal mining, a steel mill, all now gone. Half way between Denver and Albuquerque, it hopes for people to stop over and stay a night. Casa Lemus is doing what it can to stay alive, resturant is decent, rooms are decent, but maintenance is expensive, so tub drain would not open for me, but staff did it, toilet had to be flushed by taking tank top off, staff will probably fix it, room was a little musty, but window opened, and A/C (a through the wall standard window A/C worked) and freshened the air some. Included breakfast was OK for the price. Parking lot pavement is very broken up, but with only a few rooms occupied on a Sunday night in June I can see why they cannnot afford to fix it. In a bigger place its next life would be a welfare hotel, but there are not enough welfare people left in Raton to fill it, so it will probably be gone in a few years.

Rooms were spacious and generally quite clean. Our rating was affected by a large number of moths that were flying around in our rooms. Moths are pretty harmless and don't mean the rooms are unclean or unsanitary. But it was a little disconcerting for my wife and kids. So we have to do a bit of debugging before we went to sleep.

Okay for a night, a good place to stop in and sleep. Food was good and so was the shower. Wi-Fi was basically non existent, couldn’t really use it for much of anything. It is an older place, which isn’t a huge problem for us, but could have been a bit cleaner. Several dead moths and such. But over all an okay stay.
