Basic, cheap and not that cheerful
We stayed last minute after a cancelled flight so was just a place to rest for a few hours. Room sad and tired and old. Staff at check in not overly friendly but the breakfast staff lovely. It’s not luxurious but at that price I guess can’t be surprised. Bed was comfy despite the room looking in need of improvement.

Worst hotel stay in brazil ever!!!
I do not recommend this hotel at all its run down in bad shape no air conditioning working in room also mild and bacteria in washroom and when I complained they said they cannot switch room because they are full. They didn't even give me the room I booked. Also two nights they weren't going to allow me to my room because I didn't have I.d. As who carries a wallet in brazil so they can get robbed. The worst hotel ever stayed in brazil and I have been to brazil many many times.
Mold in washroom
More mood in washroom
Holes in walls
Went to open curtain and this happened no one bothered to fix

Simple hotel in a great location
Don’t expect luxury, but it’s clean and safe in the heart of Ipanema. The fridge and room safe worked great. Breakfast was good, with eggs, cheeses, breads etc

Terrible
Before writing this review, I have been thinking of something positive but really couldn’t find one. I don’t like writing bad reviews but people need to know that for what this hotel costs, they can certainly find a better deal in the same area. Everything was bad, the hotel needs an urgent and serious renovation. Breakfast was just basic. Rooms are old, ancient and dirty. Bathroom? Terrible... and I had to change room 3 times because of the noise. Wifi? Don’t even rely on that. I better stop here because this hotel made my stay in Rio unpleasant.

What a bad hotel. Breakfast kept changing hours everyday. The hotel’s wifi service was extremely bad. Kept crashing all the time, and the staff played stupid about if— everytime we would tell them it wasn’t working they would drum up a different excuse. Once they even said it might be because “it’s raining” —in Rio it rains everyday!! The staff in the breakfast dinner was extremeley bad. They would shout at us when we arrived late to breakfast. When we arrived the first night, the night staff was clearly drunk, and as I was making my way in with luggages in hand, the clerk asked ME for change... in Reales! Because he wanted to get a coke or something down the street. I had just arrived! And this is not something to ask a tourist for. The hotel was very pricey and the only thing you are paying for is the proximity to Ipanema beach —- absolutely nothing else.

Very basic room but provided me with a good base to explore Rio, clean but a bit run down. Good value for the money. What made it was the location, right on the main bus route and s short walk to the underground station. Ipanema Beach very close by and Copacabana 30 minute walk, but could easily use the transport links if you didn’t fancy the walk. The breakfast was again a basic selection but was adequate to get the day started. The staff are very friendly and most spoke a good level of English. Would definitely consider staying again

Simple hotel in a great area
This is a little gem, it is very basic but comfortable. The beds are comfortable, the shower is strong, there is a fridge and safe in the room, the room was very clean (though small) and the desk staff friendly. The breakfast is very good (eggs, juices, cakes, etc). The location is great: only 2 blocks from Ipanema beach and on the same block as a supermarket and the world HQ of H. Stern jewelers. It is a very safe area and this is very important in Rio.

Hotel is very convenient in it's location. Ipanema beach is just 2 streets away. The Hotel is also near the Subway which is walking distance. It' also located on a Main road so you have Multiple stores and Supermarkets on the same street.

Horrible hotel, Worst Customer Service EVER
To start off, we had a simple question so I emailed them, with no response. Finally I found a second email address for the front desk, so i shot them my email, again no response. I sent the email again a few days later, yet again to no avail. I sent a fourth AND fifth email and NEVER HEARD BACK from them. We decided to try calling. Someone picked up, i asked if they spoke English, they said yes, so i proceeded to ask my question and they hung up on me!! I called back, and as soon as they heard it was me they hung up on me, repeatedly four times!!! By this point, i was very hesitant about my upcoming stay, but we had no other choice as it was our reservation. We arrived at the hotel only to find that somehow our reservation got messed up and they had us down for two twin beds (which mind you, were MUCH smaller than your normal twin). When we brought this to the attention of the front desk and asked to please be placed in the correct room (with one double Bed), the front desk man simply stared at us and told us there was nothing he could do...wow. No apology, no offer to call Expedia for us....NOTHING. No customer service skills what so ever. We also asked him who handles their emails in the hotel because we had been completely ignored, and he wouldn’t tell us. Overall horrible customer service and a very lousy hotel. No AC in the lobby, tv in the room was broken. Do not stay here if you expect any standard of customer service or quality of room.

Reception staff very helpful location was ideal in a lovely part of ipanema with lovely restaurants and bars. The hotel itself very basic rooms and bathroom very small but in fairness the price does reflect that. About 45eur a night for 2 people and felt safe there.

Basic hotel in a great location.
Very basic but clean and safe and in a great location. Very nice breakfast buffet. We were a group of 6 with 2 couples and 2 separate people who shared a room, so I asked for 2 double rooms and a room with twin beds. "Double" was interpreted as 2 beds, so we ended up with 3 rooms with twin beds. Not a big problem, but if you really want a double bed, you should probably request as "matrimonial" room.

Outstanding location
The hotel is simple but the location is outstanding. Two blocks from the beach and steps to supermarket, beautiful stores, restaurants and bars, and two blocks from the subway! I have been going there since 1999, and will continue for the rest of my life. Rooms are small, no real view, but they are clean and have a frigobar, safe, tv and ac. Being where you are you don't want to be in the room for too long.

Lack of space for things, one small cabinet. Very noisy and ineffective air-condition. Late breakfast (at 7) and lack of possibility of breakfast package, the staff sends you to the coffee shop in the neighbourhood.

Perfectly decent
Decent hotel if you have reasonable expectations of South American standards - massively overpriced during carnival season, but that's to be expected. My room was clean, quiet, and perfectly adequate. Staff are very friendly, free breakfast is surprisingly good. Location is perfect for Ipanema's carnival blocos (street parties) and the beach. Big supermarket almost right next door, lots of cheap and good dining options nearby. I'd struggle to find a genuine reason to complain - except maybe that the aircon was a bit loud and not the most efficient.

The Hostel Hotel
I booked this stay at a friend's recommendation for a basic hotel. This was more of a hostel in my opinion. The key was very tiny (the size I use for a mailbox back home). The lock itself didn't feel safe to me and we had to hand the key back every time you left the building. This reminds me of my hostel days! The room is VERY basic. Night stand is a piece of wood bolted into the wall (it's decorated but you get the idea). Bathroom and shower is one room so everything is wet. You get about 4 hangers and no closet. The wifi only works in the area by the check-in desk. You cannot get it in your room as it's stated on Hotels.com. This was an issue as I had to pay for wifi through my cell back in the States, which was not cheap. As I stated, if this were listed as hostel, it would be completely different. I do want to mention that Ana at the front desk was very helpful! She really went above and beyond to mention things I would like and help me get my bearings. So if you enjoy hostel-style stay, this hotel is fine. This is a little below bare bones for me and just didn't suit my needs.
