Duxey Cottage, Rookwith, Yorkshire Dales
This charming cottage offers accommodation for two guests and an extremely warm welcome. Set in the heart of Wensleydale surrounded by beautiful countryside, a short drive from Masham in one direction and Bedale in the other, both popular Yorkshire Dales market towns to explore whilst having a luxurious break in Duxey Cottage.
Escape to this perfect couples hideaway built in the 16th century and you will instantly feel at home in the elegant and luxurious cottage. Enter into the hallway leading to either the cosy sitting room featuring a wood burning stove set in Yorkshire stone, filling the room with warmth as you settle in for the evening; or the dining room, still with its original flagstone floor, range fireplace and exposed beams, creating the perfect space for a romantic dinner for two around the dining table. Leading you through to the rear of the cottage, the delightful traditional style kitchen nestled amongst the eves and full of character, looks out onto the stunning garden. Before heading upstairs you will find a laundry room, home to the washing machine, walk-in shower and WC.
Upstairs on the first floor, the double aspect bedroom has a sumptuous super-king size bed, picture postcard views from each window and a bespoke wardrobe; along with a period style en-suite shower room with Edwardian fixtures and fittings.
Outside really has to be the icing on the cake, especially if you are lucky enough to stay whilst the wisteria is in full bloom. Enjoy breakfast at the patio table and chairs on the lawn in the peaceful surroundings with uninterrupted views; or pop open a bottle of wine and get stuck into a good book on a balmy summers evening. You may never want to leave Duxey Cottage, but should you feel you want to explore without the car, there are endless scenic walks and cycle routes nearby, just step out of the cottage door to enjoy the day ahead.
