Lakeview Fishing Cabin

Wonderful cozy, rustic wood cabin, we call the Lakeview Fishing Cabin that sits on a beautiful location overlooking the lake and mountains at the Preserve in Johnson's Creek. The Preserve is located on the southwest side of Lookout Mountain in Rising Fawn, GA. We are just 35 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, but located in the mountains in a quiet retreat!

This wonderful cabin is at Lookout Mountain in a 2800 acres Preserve! Renting the cabin gives you access to multiple fishing lakes that back up to Johnson Lake. There are miles of hiking possibilities and creeks to explore. We are 35 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, the Tennessee Aquarium, Rock City and Ruby Falls. We are 15 minutes from the famous Canyon Grill restaurant and Cloud land Canyon State Park and many more outdoor activities! We are 20 minutes from Mentone. We are a hour away from the Sequatchie River in Dunlap, GA where you can canoe in the river. There is also a fun drive-in theatre in Trenton, GA just 15 minutes away!

The cabin affords beautiful mountain and lake views at the Preserve. The cozy, 700 sq ft, two level cabin has just what you need for a romantic getaway or a trip away with the kids. The back porch sits directly on the lake and is a prefect place for relaxing with mountains views and beautiful sunrises and sunsets!

This cozy cabin sleeps up to 4 people. On the main level, there is a stocked kitchen, comfy couch and living space, bar stool seating, TV with Dish Satellite and a full bathroom with a shower. At the top of the hickory lined stairs, you will find a loft with 2 twin beds and a private bedroom with a double bed.

This cabin is surrounded by beautiful trees and mountains and sits directly on the lake.

Fishing is allowed on your lake right off your back porch and with another lake within the Preserve. Just bring your own fishing supplies. There is also on site horse trail riding! I can give you the contact information!

You won't find a more serene and peaceful location. We were fortunate not to have anyone else staying right next to us so it was really peaceful. The cabin is ok but far from being worth what is charged per night. The master bed is uncomfortable. We had to sleep in the two smaller beds and they were fine. The kitchen was not very clean. The towels and utensils were old and in need of updating. The few seating options were all uncomfortable. The place just needs to be updated in several areas for the amount of $ being charged...the review would have been much better.

Horrible stay.
Upon arrival, there was trash and working equipment laying around outside. Apparently someone had been working on the fire pit and just left his stuff laying around. I was upset about the fire pit not in use for we had taken food to cook while around the fire pit. The outside of the cabin hadn’t been cleaned in a very long time. Loose nails in the wood. A broken step. Broken patio chairs. Could hardly get through the front door because the knob was messed up. And we woke up after staying one night to mouse poop literally all over the cabin, including inside pots and pans, that I was going to use to cook with. A roach was found in the bathroom and the upstairs ceiling fan didn’t work. It was so hot inside the cabin so my husband burnt up all night. I really don’t like complaining, but we were hoping for a nice, relaxing weekend and it didn’t happen. We had to leave early and find a hotel and had to throw away a lot of food because we weren’t able to keep it in a freezer that we had planned on using.

Ignore the bad reviews about this place it is amazing. The cabin was well cleaned and stocked and the owner is quick to answer any questions and also gives great recommendations on restaurants and activities. The neighbors were also very friendly too. Will definitely be back!

We loved fishing off the dock and watching all the wildlife. We made s’mores and caught fish. The house is quaint and has everything you need however it could use updated couch, outdoor deck chairs, and possibly a new grill. We loved our stay and the host was great! We would definitely go back!

Cute fishing cabin
We enjoyed staying here for a couple of days after Christmas. The cabin was decorated for Christmas with a Christmas tree, which was fun. The cabin is small, but it suited our needs and we enjoyed walking right out to the lake. The loft area does get hot during the day if the heat is running, but we opened the window between the beds a little and kids slept fine. Easy drive to Chattanooga.

The view was the best part of this whole trip, it was amazing to come outside waking up early in the morning with coffee and just breathing in and sight seeing the mountains and water. Amazing Labor Day with family
Because we read a bad review, we were worried what the cabin would look like. When we arrived, it was amazing! It smelled great, everything was clean and sanitized! The bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well maintained and stocked, and the deck was awesome; complete with a polywood picnic table and 2 polywood rocking chairs. We enjoyed time with family who were staying in nearby cabins and yet had our own place to retreat and watch TV or sit outside on the deck watching the sunrise and set. The cabins are surrounded by acres of beautiful forest and yet close enough to buy supplies if needed at the Dollar General. We also enjoyed hiking at Cloudland State Park which was only a few miles away. Don’t believe the bad review. This cabin is amazing and we will definitely be back!

Dirtiest VRBO ever!
~ Hot in the entire upstairs, only a small jerry rigged ac window unit to cool the whole area upstairs and the window unit was in the room so the loft area got no cool air, our daughter was hot ~ Ceiling fans upstairs were as dusty as it gets to the point the dust bunnies were over the edges ~ The blinds were covered in layer of dust and had dead bugs on the them ~ The entire outside of the house is covered in dead bugs and needs to be pressure washed, especially around the doors and windows ~ Dead bugs on the first floor ac control panel ~ Pots and pans were just thrown under the cabinets, it was a mess, I had to pull it all out and organize it just to use one or two items ~ Half empty containers of left behind food. ~ Broken plastic chair on the back deck that would absolutely have collapsed if even a child would have sat in it ~ Extremly low ceiling fans upstairs, this is dangerous, one fan hit the hat on my head almost knocking it off, this was the fan in the bedroom, the blades on that fan sag down as they are warped from the heat, so we left the ceiling fans off during our stay to be safe, it should be considered to just remove the ceiling fans upstairs. ~ No wifi available to renters but a quick check on your phone and you can see there is wifi in the area but it shows up secured, very low cellular signal, and the tv only gets a few minor channels and those channels you do get are nit soemthing most people watch ~ Back deck is in need of serious repairs due to rot
