From the very beginning of our trip, our host Sonny, took care of our every need. When our luggage was lost for 3 days, he took us to the local mall to obtain a few necessities.... like clothes LOL!! When the heavens opened up and we had torrential rains just before the boat trip to the house for our first night, he provided us with rain coats. Whenever we mentioned our desire to go to somewhere or see something he and Rosina were quick to arrange it. Souvenir shopping with Rosina and going to West End with Sonny were enjoyable and at a leisurely pace Their pride in the island was infectious and the information about the area they gave us was invaluable. Hint---Ask Sonny where you can get a good hamburger!! The house was very clean when we arrived, with plenty of bedding and towels. The beds were very comfy and bathroom was adequate and as pictured, with hot water in the shower. The kitchen appliances were relatively new and all in good working condition. Bottled water is available just a 1 minute boat ride from the house or can be delivered by Sonny or the store. We did not drink the local water, as it was rather salty (but was fine for cooking or washing dishes). Loved sitting on the deck with a good book and just watching the comings and goings of the town and fishing community. We saw Fred, the spotted ray, lobsters, a blue octopus (it's real -- look it up!!) a lion fish (only one), and tarpon right in front of the deck of the house. Go to the swimming platform to see flounder, sea cucumbers ( over 2 ft long), squid and other tropical fish close to the reef. The grounds are immaculate with Rosina's extensive gardens and beautiful flowers. Her pets and animals (monkeys, toucans, parrots, macaws and the Honduran "rabbit") are all well loved and cared for and it shows. We rented the boat for our over 30 day trip, it was easy to drive and well maintained. My husband likes to fish and I enjoy snorkeling. Sonny was able to accommodate both our interests, taking me to Pigeon Cay ( highly recommended--- incredible snorkeling, better than Hawaii!!) and my husband off fishing --- they brought home 15 red snappers that day!! Do bring bug spray, as there are no-see-ums and mossies everywhere on the island. We were treated like extended family by everyone, including their daughters, but given our space when we desired. Would we stay there again?? ABSOLUTELY!!! Already looking at dates for next year..........
