NEW - Coronari Suite

Description:

Delightful apartment in the heart of Rome, in one of the oldest Roman buildings, where the first Roman bank was located. Precisely located on Via dei Coronari, on the first floor, with internal and silent view, this splendid 40sqm apartment consists of an open living room, with sofa bed, dining table, kitchenette, double bedroom and bathroom.
The apartment is equipped with the greatest comforts, TV, air conditioning, wifi, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher.
Ideal for a small family or a couple. With its optimal position it makes every attraction of the city easily reachable on foot.

Neighborhood:

Via dei Coronari is a famous street in Rome, about 500 meters long, which starts from vicolo del Curato and ends in via di Sant'Agostino in the Ponte district. In the street there is also the homonymous theater.
He appears in numerous works of Italian cinema, including for example Identification of a woman by Michelangelo Antonioni.
It owes its name to the sellers of sacred objects, in particular rosary crowns, who sold their goods here to pilgrims in transit on the way to St. Peter's Basilica.
The origin of the road dates back to the Middle Ages and was then called Via Recta, since it was one of the few regular roads in Rome at that time; moreover, it was the fastest way to reach San Pietro from the Port of Ripetta. For this reason, the street was very popular with pilgrims and, consequently, by the sellers of "crowns" (precisely the coronaries, who give the street its name) and sacred images that established their shops here.
From the beginning of the sixteenth century the road and the surrounding areas were inhabited by some of the main courtesans (high-edge prostitutes) of the time, including the famous Imperia and Fiammetta.
Also in this period, the road is conventionally divided into two parts: the first called Scorticlaria, due to the numerous leather vendors present, and the second Immagine di Ponte, due to the sacred aedicule built here in 1523 by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger on the palace of Cardinal Serra di Monserrato. The image, which represents a Coronation of the Virgin - today difficult to read, but still in its original location - was commissioned by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger to Perin del Vaga.
The street was known until the sixties of the twentieth century for the numerous junk dealers that characterized it, which then turned into antique shops.

Great Location
We were warmly greeted by one of the hosts who had also arranged transportation for us from the airport. The apartment is very small and the bathroom and kitchen areas are so compact you can’t easily turn around in them. The apartment is requiring some up keep and repairs and had broken tiles on the floor outside the bathroom. Unfortunately during the first 24 hours of our stay the building’s water had been shut off for repairs so couldn’t wash up or flush a toilet the first day and night. The building is ancient and part of the charm and we understand it was out of the host’s control. He eventually got someone in to create a work around to get water into the apartment- which was essentially a long garden water hose piped through the kitchen to the outside. He did say he would reimburse our first day for the major inconvenience- but we are still waiting. The location however is perfect and nestled in a charming and historic neighborhood.

Great stay, with some notes.
This was our first trip outside of our home country. The building is beautiful, and within walking distance to so many beautiful sites. We had some hiccups along the way which arent always prevalent, but happened nonetheless. Upon our second day, we had a note on our door from the tenant below us stating a water pipe had burst in his unit and he was forced to shut the water off (including our unit) jdjswe were able to work around it

Perfectly Quaint Location in the Heart of Rome
I am traveling solo and your accommodations were perfect due to location and sense of safety. The checkin was easy and the only challenge was that housekeeping had not yet arrived by the time of scheduled checkin. They arrived at 5p. In true form, I made the best of it because anything I needed was right outside the door.

Amazing
We paid for the service where we were picked up from the airport and taken straight to our accommodation. As soon as we were dropped off, we were met and taken into the apartment. Everything was explained to us and all of our questions answered. It was such a smooth transition from plane to the apartment. The apartment was close to everything and in a wonderful area. For the whole experience.....Highly Recommended!

If location is your only criteria then it’s great, but…
If location is your only criteria it’s great but, many drawbacks otherwise. My husband and I aren’t even big people and it’s extremely difficult to maneuver in this space, ie the bathroom especially. Besides it’s definite need for some TLC. They have cracked tiles which cut my foot open by the bathroom, not even a blanket on the bed (only sheets, we ended up using the couch cover as a makeshift blanket), and no response when I asked about it. The girl that met us was good but overall I wouldn’t probably recommend the property. This was the end of our three week stay all over France and Italy so we did have some perspective I’ll just say.

Great location
It has a great location and has everything you need. Just know it is on the 1st floor (what we call the 2nd floor in the US) and there is no elevator.

Dangerous rental
After renting more than 20 apts in the Centro Storico, over 30 years, this was by far the worst, despite its excellent location - poor maintenance, dangerous layout, almost unusable kitchen ( tiny and poorly equipped), bathroom unusable for anyone overweight or handicapped (which we are not). Description on VRBO should specify that the apt is completely unsuitable for anyone not in excellent physical condition (up 2 flights of steep stairs) The excellent location does not make up for living conditions.

Un petit studio bien placé
Studio à 15 minutes à pied des principaux sites de Rome. Bien pour 2 adultes et peut-être 2 enfants mais pas plus.
