We were happy with our stay here at Larkspur. The room was updated and very clean. I needed more pillows because I had surgery and my head needed to be propped up and the staff was very helpful.

Hotels in Sacramento are primarily located in the downtown area, around the Convention Center, and scattered along highway corridors, leaving East Sacramento and the areas further to its east across the American River a complete hotel desert, so Larkspur Landing is pretty much the only choice if you want to be close to Cal State Sacramento. The exterior looks nice, the interior looks a little dated, but it was warm and inviting when I arrived late at night. The room was spacious and clean despite some obvious signs of age, especially in the bathroom. The main detractors for me were the horrible pillows that offered no support, and an uncomfortable mattress, which made for poor sleep quality. The breakfast was also a bit sad, with only pre-packaged items in refrigerators, just a step or two above vending machine food. For the price and, in my case, the convenience of its location, it served its purpose for a couple nights.

Very comfortable clean peaceful and relaxing stay. 2nd time staying there and Larkspur Landing is my official go-to whenever I'm visiting Sacramento

There was an odd smell upon entering the room. The room didn’t have the accompanying couch that is shown to come with the suite accommodations through Expedia. The dishes were left in the dishwasher instead of being cleaned and put away in the cabinets. This LL used to have higher standards but those appear to have slipped since then.

The room accommodations did not match what was posted on the website. While the room layout was good, the room was very outdated and grimey. The staff was friendly but I will not return back to this hotel.

Just ok

Hotel room is in need of freshening....scratches and discolor on bathroom sink, peeling bath cabinets, rock hard/unusable couch for example. Also, though nonsmoking, the smoke smell in hallway (first floor) was overwhelming at times, as was the corner of end room we stayed in that had adjoining wall with next unit. Notified front desk on check-out on smoke (and dried dog poop in hallway by our door) and they said they'd let manager know. Location was convenient for us and fortunately we didn't spend much time in room. Bed was comfortable though filled up most of room.
