AROUND THE LOCAL AREA.
The Bolt Head is positioned on the outskirts of Salcombe. On the doorstep is the beautiful Blue Flag beach known as South Sands, where there is safe bathing and a regular and frequent ferry service to the town centre during the summer. If you are interested in the possibility of launching a boat, moorings are managed by the Salcombe Harbour Authority on behalf of South Hams District Council. You will need to contact the authority as it is also responsible for collecting harbour dues from resident and visiting boats.
Beyond the Bolt Head, the cliffs and headlands are owned by the National Trust and a walk along the coastal path is thrillingly spectacular.
Salcombe boasts some of the best sailing waters in the UK, sheltered for dinghy sailing and windsurfing. It is also within range of many amazing diving points. For the landlubbers, there are beaches, galleries, museums and scenery filled coastal walks.
The Bolt Head apartments are situated overlooking South Sands beach from where a half hourly summer ferry service links with Salcombe’s shops, quays and restaurants. South Sands Sailing School is just a five to ten-minute walk away.
