The Hummingbird Backpackers B&B (Bed 2)

Come join us in our high-end, backpackers style accommodation on beautiful Salt Spring Island. You'll stay in a comfortable single bunk bed in a co-ed dorm room, and have access to all the beauty the island offers. We are a 5 min drive to Ganges, on the bus route and walking distance to 2 lakes and a nature reserve. We have a modern living space with plenty of room to cook and mingle. There is also a large outdoor area for enjoying the garden and fresh air as well as a yoga platform in the woods. For more than one guest, please book the individual listings we have on VRBO. We have 4 of them and each listing is for an individual bed in the dorm room. If you'd like to book the whole room with 4 beds there is also a listing you can book for that. I enjoy my stay in this place. Very well located. Pratical to go in town by bus. I've just make a comment that the bathroom has to be cleaner ! Thanks.

Ultimately disappointing
My bicycle touring friend and I showed up, and while there was no one else staying at this hostel (it's not a B&B), Colin acted surprised to see us. He had no idea who we were, and asked questions about how we reserved and when we reserved. There is no microwave, no ice in the freezer (needed for an injury), no washcloths (only one towel per lodger). All the lighting is overhead, no reading lights. No instruction sheet with information about using the facility. Dirty windows, dirty floor (I walked across it barefoot and my feet were covered with debris from the floor). Old mattresses and broken pieces of furniture stowed on a staircase hidden behind a curtain at top of stairs in main living area. Poor storage in a bedroom for four people. The one accessible closet was full of stuff and the other was blocked by the bunk beds. Hooks would have been handy. There is lots of counter and dining space. Great shower. Good washer pressure. Lots of road noise.

Good Vibes
We went on a spur of the moment cycling trip to Salt Spring Island. The hills were tough but at the end of that error in judgment was the gem that is Hummingbird B&B. Highly recommended accomodations for those impulsive cyclists out there when Salt Spring Island beckons. Thank you to the hosts for their hospitality. Everything went off without a hitch.
