The floodlit council owned pay and display car park is just at the top of the hill a few minutes walk away however you are allowed to drive down to load and unload the car and there is a space just a few yards from the cottage where you can park up to do this. There is a car park permit for this car park provided free of charge for you and this will be fastened to the back of the cottage front door. Please display it on your dashboard during your stay and ensure that you park your car in the designated public area of the car park and not in the residents section. Please then leave the permit back at the cottage for the next guests when you leave.

The cottage keys will be provided for your arrival and details of where to obtain these will be emailed.
You can arrive anytime after 3.00PM and if you could vacate by 10.00 AM that would be great. Ideal position
Very small traditional fisherman's cottage. Ok for a couple of days we stayed longer but found the kitchen and bathroom awkward. The staircase doesn't have a bannister which could be an issue for people with mobility issues. Like all Staithes houses the stairs are steep. The cutlery, crockery and glasses were plentiful but the space to cook in is a struggle even for two people and it was a bit of a balancing act. There was more room upstairs but we found the bed uncomfortable and the pillows definitely need replacing. We didn't like the position of the bathroom in the sitting room. I hadn't noticed it stated in the property discription, otherwise I wouldn't have booked it. The yard isn't secure for dogs and wasn't nice to sit in. Being so close to the harbour this didn't matter to much but it was quite disappointing. It really could do with some money investing in it and some TLC. The carpets have seen better days, they are dark and difficult to hoover. This is evident all around the edges. All in all it would be ok for a couple of days, but I wouldn't book it again as there are some wonderful properties in the village where we have stayed before. The owners responded to questions quickly.

A two week stay
We have stayed at this property before and found it cosy and met most of our needs close to the harbour area. The kitchen is a bit small but has all the basic appliance's. Hot water pressure is lacking but water hot. The bathroom is functional but small. We had a problem with the shower which stopped working after the first week, it was reported but couldn't be fixed within our stay. Also the hot water basin tap sometimes was very difficult to turn off. Other than that a quiet area to stay at the bottom of the hill.

beautiful cottage at Staithes
The cottage was really nice, everything was clean, the double bed was very comfortable, there was everything that you could need really, just around the corner from the sea and the Cod and Lobster pub do lovely food at good prices. The only disappointing aspect but quite a big thing is that the cottage is advertised as having a log burner in the lounge, which it has got but unfortunately there was a note on it saying you couldn't use it something about the chimney, which was very disappointing as we were really looking forward to that and as we went in the middle of November we really needed the log burner to be working as there were electric radiators but they dry you out and make your nose sore and as soon as you switch them off it goes cold, so basically if you are planning a winter stay it's very cold without the log burner. I think it should be in the advertisement for the cottage that the log burner isn't allowed to be used as if we knew that the log burner wasn't working then I wouldn't have booked this cottage. It's a really shame as other than that it's a lovely cottage .

Great time had in Staithes.
Lovely, small, cosy, good location, well provisioned, appliances work with no problems. Could be clearer in terms of bin use, heating and possible issues with cliff top car park where there are 3 car parks, one of which does not accept pass provided.

Great location
Perfectly placed cottage, great access to the harbour/beach and easy reach of car park, parking permit was a nice touch. Really enjoyed sitting in the sun at the front and watching the day go by! Planters full of lovely flowers. We really struggled to seat three at the table as there were only two chairs and the table was too unstable when open due to apparent missing leg which made mealtimes difficult. We were self catering all week with the current restrictions and the kitchen was really well equipped. Very disappointed we couldn’t use the log burner for safety reasons. But very happy with the COVID safe arrangements for cleaning.

Great little cottage that's fully equipped with nearly everything you need. Games & toys, dvds and books. The all important crabbing lines and nets. In a great location just off the cobbled street and a very short walk to the beach, pubs etc. Great setting for long walks and water based activities.

Lovely cottage in the perfect location.
From booking to checking out, we can not fault our stay at Kildale. The cottage itself is great, well appointed and situated right in the heart of the village. We had a fabulous week swimming, building sandcastles, rock pooling, crabbing, exploring the many little alleys, nooks and crannies of Staithes and enjoying the slower pace of life. We ate in and had takeaways from The Cod and Lobster, both were excellent. Cobbles Pizzas are also highly recommended (Spanish being a firm favourite!) along with everything and everything from the butcher's ; fresh sausage rolls, pork and apple pie and divine sausages ❤️ Be sure to find time to pop in to Dotty's for scones, cake, cream tea or fab bacon butties. You won't be disappointed. All in all a perfect family week. We can't wait to get back.x

Great location, however cleanliness a disappointment. Also feel that a folder of information regarding the property would have been useful. Such as not to light the fire, which we didn't. And genera info. However a quaint quirky cottage.

A little gem
We have been visiting Staithes for around 14 years and have stayed in a number of properties in the village. This one is a real gem. Perfectly situated for the beach, pubs, butchers etc and everything you could possibly need all wrapped up in a charming, cosy parcel. The seating in the front is great for soaking up the afternoon sun. The back garden gives a more private outdoor space if needed. The cottage is clean, bright and beautifully decorated. The kitchen had everything we needed and there was a cupboard full of games in the lounge. Having a washing machine was great, meaning no mountain of laundry to haul home. Happy end to the holiday for me! Staithes, as a holiday destination, really has it all. Beach, crabbing, rockpooling, wildlife watching boat rides, scenic walks, great food at a choice of pubs and cafes, great food to cook yourself from Richard and Marianne at the butcher's, delicious ice cream, sweets and deli treats, art, crafts and above all the most wonderful people you could ever wish to meet. You'll never regret a stay here, just be aware you'll want to keep coming back for more.

Fantastic
Lovely little Cottage has all you need and good value. The location is fantastic being yards from the beach and 2 pubs with great walks on the cliff tops. My 10 year old said it was the best holiday he had had in the UK. The dog would just wander down to the beach and have a swim all by herself so we had to keep an eye on her! Everyone seemed so friendly , apart from 1, and would stop for a chat. Just a warning though if you dont like dogs there are a lot of people who had them although everyone kept the area clean. There is so much to do in the area and the nearby North York Moors. Not a moan but if you are over 5ft 7" the shower is low but hey its a traditional small cottage and adds to the charm. The locals get upset when unloading so make sure you leave room when you park (there is not much though) as we had a nasty experience with one and lots of bad language in front of the kids. Remember the name of the Cottage too when you arrive. We forgot and there are lots of blue ones! Go for it you wont be disappointed!

Great cottage in the perfect location
We had a lovely week with our dog in the cottage. The location is perfect - right by the beach and the pub in the centre of Staithes. The cottage was cozy, but more than big enough for the three of us. It was well equipped with lots of crockery and enough cooking equipment to cook simple meals on the hob or in the oven. There was a good selection of games and dvds which kept us entertained! As other people have mentioned, it’s not really possible to stand up in the shower, but easy enough to have a shower kneeling/sitting in the bath. Also, having a bathtub (and lovely bubble baths!) was a real treat! Staithes is the most delightful fishing village, and the walk from the car park (maximum 10mins) gave lovely views over the higgledy-piggedly rooftops. The car parking works really well and the permit makes it free ( and completely stress free!). Unloading at the bottom of the hill by harbour works well (there’s a parking spot right by the cottage) although it is a narrow street down to it and can get a bit busy. That said, we managed to park in the loading space at both the beginning and end of the week with minimal fuss. We’d recommend doing the loop walk along the cliff tops towards Port Mulgrave - lots of lovely views - and the Studios Gallery (opposite the pub) is excellent. Also, make sure to visit Dotty’s Tea Room, which has an amazing array of delicious cakes, including lots of gluten-free options. Overall, we’d like to thank Chris and Sarah for a wonderful week in their cottage - would highly recommend to anyone :)
